Study of the pressure transient behavior of directional wells considering the effect of non-uniform flux distribution

During the production,the fluid in the vicinity of the directional well enters the wellbore with different rates,leading to non-uniform flux distribution along the directional ***,in all existing studies,it is oversimplified to a uniform flux distribution,which can result in inaccurate results for field ***,this paper proposes a semi-analytical model of a directional well based on the assumption of non-uniform flux ***,the direction well is discretized into a carefully chosen series of linear sources,such that the complex well trajectory can be captured and the nonuniform flux distribution along the wellbore can be considered to model the three-dimensional flow *** using the finite difference method,we can obtain the numerical solutions of the transient flow within the *** the aid of Green's function method,we can obtain the analytical solutions of the transient flow from the matrix to the *** complete flow behavior of a directional well is perfectly represented by coupling the above two types of transient ***,on the basis of the proposed model,we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the pressure transient behavior of a directional *** computation results show that the flux variation along the direction well has a significant effect on pressure *** addition,the directional well in an infinite reservoir may exhibit the following flow regimes:wellbore afterflow,transition flow,inclined radial flow,elliptical flow,horizontal linear flow,and horizontal radial *** horizontal linear flow can be observed only if the formation thickness is much smaller than the well ***,a dip region that appears on the pressure derivative curve indicates the three-dimensional flow behavior near the wellbore.

This study endeavors to formulate a comprehensive methodology for establishing a Geological Knowledge Base(GKB) tailored to fracture-cavity reservoir outcrops within the North Tarim Basin. The acquisition of quantitative geological parameters was accomplished through diverse means such as outcrop observations, thin section studies, unmanned aerial vehicle scanning, and high-resolution cameras. Subsequently, a three-dimensional digital outcrop model was generated, and the parameters were standardized. An assessment of traditional geological knowledge was conducted to delineate the knowledge framework, content, and system of the GKB. The basic parameter knowledge was extracted using multiscale fine characterization techniques, including core statistics, field observations, and microscopic thin section analysis. Key mechanism knowledge was identified by integrating trace elements from filling, isotope geochemical tests, and water-rock simulation experiments. Significant representational knowledge was then extracted by employing various methods such as multiple linear regression, neural network technology, and discriminant classification. Subsequently, an analogy study was performed on the karst fracture-cavity system(KFCS) in both outcrop and underground reservoir settings. The results underscored several key findings:(1) Utilization of a diverse range of techniques,including outcrop observations, core statistics, unmanned aerial vehicle scanning, high-resolution cameras, thin section analysis, and electron scanning imaging, enabled the acquisition and standardization of data. This facilitated effective management and integration of geological parameter data from multiple sources and scales.(2) The GKB for fracture-cavity reservoir outcrops, encompassing basic parameter knowledge, key mechanism knowledge, and significant representational knowledge, provides robust data support and systematic geological insights for the intricate and in-depth examination of the genetic

Main controlling factor and mechanism of gas-in-place content of the Lower Cambrian shale from different sedimentary facies in the western Hubei area, South china

The Lower Cambrian shale gas in the western Hubei area,South china has a great resource prospect,but the gas-in-place(GIP)content in different sedimentary facies varies widely,and the relevant mechanism has been not well *** the present study,two sets of the Lower Cambrian shale samples from the Wells YD4 and YD5 in the western Hubei area,representing the deep-water shelf facies and shallowwater platform facies,respectively,were investigated on the differences of pore types,pore structure and methane adsorption capacity between them,and the main controlling factor and mechanism of their methane adsorption capacities and GIP contents were *** results show that the organic matter(OM)pores in the YD4 shale samples are dominant,while the inorganic mineral(IM)pores in the YD5 shale samples are primary,with underdeveloped OM *** pore specific surface area(SSA)and pore volume(PV)of the YD4 shale samples are mainly from micropores and mesopores,respectively,while those of the YD5 shale samples are mainly from micropores and macropores,*** methane adsorption capacity of the YD4 shale samples is significantly higher than that of the YD5 shale samples,with a maximum absolute adsorption capacity of 3.13 cm^(3)/g and 1.31 cm^(3)/g in average,*** with the shallow-water platform shale,the deep-water shelf shale has a higher TOC content,a better kerogen type and more developed OM pores,which is the main mechanism for its higher adsorption *** GIP content models based on two samples with a similar TOC content selected respectively from the Wells YD4 and YD5 further indicate that the GIP content of the deep-water shelf shale is mainly 34 m^(3)/t within a depth range of 1000—4000 m,with shale gas exploration and development potential,while the shallow-water platform shale has normally a GIP content of<1 m^(3)/t,with little shale gas *** the geological and geochemical conditions of shale gas formation a

Sedimentary paleoenvironment and its control on organic matter enrichment in the Mesoproterozoic hydrocarbon source rocks in the Ordos Basin, southern margin of the North china Craton

The black shale of the Mesoproterozoic Cuizhuang Formation in the Changcheng System in Yongji city,North china Craton, is a potential source rock. Understanding the organic matter enrichment mechanism is crucial for evaluating source rock resources and understanding oil and gas accumulation *** this study, we evaluated the sedimentary paleoenvironment and organic matter enrichment mechanisms of shale using thin section observations, mineral composition analysis, organic geochemistry, and elemental geochemistry. We found significant differences in the sedimentary paleoenvironment and organic matter enrichment mechanisms between the lower Cuizhuang Formation and the Beidajian Formation shale. The Cuizhuang Formation was deposited in a late-stage, restricted basin environment during the rift phase, and elemental and geochemical indicators showed that the Cuizhuang Formation was in a suboxic-anoxic water environment, that was influenced by a warm and humid paleoclimate and submarine hydrothermal activities, which promoted the accumulation of organic matter. However, the enrichment of organic matter in the Cuizhuang Formation was mainly controlled by redox *** formation of suboxic-anoxic water environments may be closely related to the warm and humid paleoclimate and submarine hydrothermal activities. Warm conditions promote continental weathering and increase marine productivity, thereby consuming oxygen in the bottom water. Moreover, acidic hydrothermal activity also helps to establish an anoxic environment. Our results reveal the effects controlling various coupled mechanisms dominated by redox conditions, which may explain the development of source rocks in the Cuizhuang Formation.

The effects of various factors on spontaneous imbibition in tight oil reservoirs

Slickwater fracturing fluids have gained widespread application in the development of tight oil reservoirs. After the fracturing process, the active components present in slickwater can directly induce spontaneous imbibition within the reservoir. Several variables influence the eventual recovery rate within this procedure, including slickwater composition, formation temperature, degree of reservoir fracture development, and the reservoir characteristics. Nonetheless, the underlying mechanisms governing these influences remain relatively understudied. In this investigation, using the Chang-7 block of the Changqing Oilfield as the study site, we employ EM-30 slickwater fracturing fluid to explore the effects of the drag-reducing agent concentration, imbibition temperature, core permeability, and core fracture development on spontaneous imbibition. An elevated drag-reducing agent concentration is observed to diminish the degree of medium and small pore utilization. Furthermore, higher temperatures and an augmented permeability enhance the fluid flow properties, thereby contributing to an increased utilization rate across all pore sizes. Reduced fracture development results in a lower fluid utilization across diverse pore types. This study deepens our understanding of the pivotal factors affecting spontaneous imbibition in tight reservoirs following fracturing. The findings act as theoretical, technical, and scientific foundations for optimizing fracturing strategies in tight oil reservoir transformations.

FNNWV: farthest-nearest neighbor-based weighted voting for class-imbalanced crowdsourcing

In crowdsourcing scenarios, we can hire crowd workers to label crowdsourced tasks and then use label integration algorithms to infer the integrated label for each instance in the tasks. As more and more label integration algorithms are proposed, the performance of inference based only on the information of the inferred instance gradually converges. Recent algorithms attempt to exploit the information of the inferred instance's nearest neighbors to infer and achieve good performance. However, when crowdsourced tasks are class-imbalanced, negative instances are more easily to occur in the nearest neighbors because negative instances are the majority, and thus recent algorithms are more easily biased toward the negative class. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel label integration algorithm called farthest-nearest neighbor-based weighted voting(FNNWV) for class-imbalanced crowdsourcing. Specifically, FNNWV considers the nearest neighbors to be more similar to the inferred instance and thus uses them to vote ayes in weighted voting. Yet at the same time, FNNWV considers the farthest neighbors to be more different from the inferred instance and thus uses them to vote nays in weighted voting. Since negative instances are easier to occur in both the nearest neighbors and the farthest neighbors, FNNWV weakens the effect of negative instances by voting ayes and nays. The experimental results on 22 simulated and one real-world crowdsourced datasets show that FNNWV significantly outperforms all the other state-of-the-art competitors.

Exploring a Promising Region and Enhancing Decision Space Diversity for Multimodal Multi-Objective Optimization

During the past decade,research efforts have been gradually directed to the widely existing yet less noticed multimodal multi-objective optimization problems(MMOPs)in the multi-objective optimization ***,researchers have begun to investigate enhancing the decision space diversity and preserving valuable dominated solutions to overcome the shortage caused by a preference for objective space ***,many existing methods still have limitations,such as giving unduly high priorities to convergence and insufficient ability to enhance decision space *** overcome these shortcomings,this article aims to explore a promising region(PR)and enhance the decision space diversity for handling *** traditional methods,we propose the use of non-dominated solutions to determine a limited region in the PR in the decision space,where the Pareto sets(PSs)are included,and explore this region to assist in solving ***,we develop a novel neighbor distance measure that is more suitable for the complex geometry of PSs in the decision space than the crowding *** on the above methods,we propose a novel dual-population-based coevolutionary *** studies on three benchmark test suites demonstrates that our proposed methods can achieve promising performance and versatility on different *** effectiveness of the proposed neighbor distance has also been justified through comparisons with crowding distance methods.

Further study on the genesis of lamellar calcite veins in lacustrine black shale--A case study of Paleogene in Dongying Depression, china

Lamellar calcite veins are prevalent in carbonate-rich,lacustrine dark *** formation mechanisms of these veins have been extensively debated,focusing on factors such as timing,depth,material source,and driving *** paper examines dark lacustrine shale lamellar calcite veins in the Paleogene strata of Dongying Depression,using various analytical techniques:petrography,isotope geochemistry,cathodoluminescence,inclusion thermometry,and electron probe *** distinct types of calcite veins have been identified:granular calcite veins and sparry calcite *** two types differ significantly in color,grain structure,morphology,and *** further investigation,it was observed that vein generation occurred from the shallow burial period to the maturation of organic matter,with a transition from granular calcite veins to sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins exhibit characteristics associated with the shallow burial period,including plastically deformed laminae and veins,the development of strawberry pyrite,the absence of oil and gas,weak fractionation in oxygen isotopes,and their contact relationship with sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins were likely influenced by the reduction of sulfate *** the other hand,sparry calcite veins with fibrous grains are antitaxial and closely linked to the evolution and maturation of organic *** contain oil and gas inclusions and show a distribution range of homogenization temperature between 90℃ and 120℃ and strong fractionation in oxygen isotopes,indicating formation during the hydrocarbon expulsion *** carbon isotope analysis of the surrounding rocks and veins suggests that the material for vein formation originates from the shale itself,specifically authigenic micritic calcite modified by the action of *** opening of horizontal fractures and vein formation is likely driven by fluid overpressure resulting from undercompaction and hydrocarb
