Researchers have recently achieved significant advances in deep learning techniques, which in turn has substantially advanced other research disciplines, such as natural language processing, image processing, speech recognition, and software engineering. Various deep learning techniques have been successfully employed to facilitate software engineering tasks, including code generation, software refactoring, and fault localization. Many studies have also been presented in top conferences and journals, demonstrating the applications of deep learning techniques in resolving various software engineering tasks. However,although several surveys have provided overall pictures of the application of deep learning techniques in software engineering,they focus more on learning techniques, that is, what kind of deep learning techniques are employed and how deep models are trained or fine-tuned for software engineering tasks. We still lack surveys explaining the advances of subareas in software engineering driven by deep learning techniques, as well as challenges and opportunities in each subarea. To this end, in this study, we present the first task-oriented survey on deep learning-based software engineering. It covers twelve major software engineering subareas significantly impacted by deep learning techniques. Such subareas spread out through the whole lifecycle of software development and maintenance, including requirements engineering, software development, testing, maintenance, and developer collaboration. As we believe that deep learning may provide an opportunity to revolutionize the whole discipline of software engineering, providing one survey covering as many subareas as possible in software engineering can help future research push forward the frontier of deep learning-based software engineering more systematically. Laser frequency locking based on the normal and abnormal saturated absorption spectroscopy of ^(87)Rb

We present a practical method to avoid the mis-locking phenomenon in the saturated-absorption-spectrum laser- frequency-locking system and set up a simple theoretical model to explain the abnormal saturated absorption spectrum. The method uses the normal and abnormal saturated absorption spectra of the same transition 52S1/2, F = 2-52P3/2, F1 = 3 saturated absorption of the 87Rb D2 resonance line. After subtracting these two signals with the help of electronics, we can obtain a spectrum with a single peak to lock the laser. In our experiment, we use the normal and inverse signals of the transitions 52S1/2, F = 2-52P3/2, F1 = 3 saturated absorption of the 87Rb D2 resonance line to lock a 780-nm distributed feedback （DFB） diode laser. This method improves the long-term locking performance and is suitable for other kinds of diode lasers.

Compressive sensing based multiuser detector for massive MBM MIMO uplink

Media based modulation(MBM)is expected to be a prominent modulation scheme,which has access to the high data rate by using radio frequency(RF)mirrors and fewer transmit *** with multiuser multiple input multiple output(MIMO),the MBM scheme achieves better performance than other conventional multiuser MIMO *** this paper,the massive MIMO uplink is considered and a conjunctive MBM transmission scheme for each user is *** conjunctive MBM transmission scheme gathers aggregate MBM signals in multiple continuous time slots,which exploits the structured sparsity of these aggregate MBM *** this kind of scenario,a multiuser detector with low complexity based on the compressive sensing(CS)theory to gain better detection performance is *** detector is developed from the greedy sparse recovery technique compressive sampling matching pursuit(CoSaMP)and exploits not only the inherently distributed sparsity of MBM signals but also the structured sparsity of multiple aggregate MBM *** exploiting these sparsity,the proposed CoSaMP based multiuser detector achieves reliable detection with low *** results demonstrate that the proposed CoSaMP based multiuser detector achieves better detection performance compared with the conventional methods.

Isolated structures in two-dimensional optical superlattice

Overlaying commensurate optical lattices with various configurations called superlattices can lead to exotic lattice topologies and, in turn, a discovery of novel physics. In this study, by overlapping the maxima of lattices, a new isolated structure is created, while the interference of minima can generate various ＂sublattice＂ patterns. Three different kinds of primitive lattices are used to demonstrate isolated square, triangular, and hexagonal ＂sublattice＂ structures in a two-dimensional optical superlattice, the patterns of which can be manipulated dynamically by tuning the polarization, frequency, and intensity of laser beams. In addition, we propose the method of altering the relative phase to adjust the tunneling amplitudes in ＂sublattices＇. Our configurations provide unique opportunities to study particle entanglement in ＂lattices＂ formed by intersecting wells and to implement special quantum logic gates in exotic lattice geometries.

Quantized Decoders that Maximize Mutual Information for Polar Codes

In this paper,we innovatively associate the mutual information with the frame error rate(FER)performance and propose novel quantized decoders for polar *** on the optimal quantizer of binary-input discrete memoryless channels(BDMCs),the proposed decoders quantize the virtual subchannels of polar codes to maximize mutual information(MMI)between source bits and quantized *** nested structure of polar codes ensures that the MMI quantization can be implemented stage by *** results show that the proposed MMI decoders with 4 quantization bits outperform the existing nonuniform quantized decoders that minimize mean-squared error(MMSE)with 4 quantization bits,and yield even better performance than uniform MMI quantized decoders with 5 quantization ***,the proposed 5-bit quantized MMI decoders approach the floating-point decoders with negligible performance loss.

Coupled Two-Dimensional Atomic Oscillation in an Anharmonic Trap

In atomic dynamics, oscillation Mong different axes can be studied separately in the harmonic trap. When the trap is not harmonic, motion in different directions may couple together. In this work, we observe a two- dimensional oscillation by exciting atoms in one direction, where the atoms are transferred to an anharmonic region. Theoretical calculations are coincident to the experimental results. These oscillations in two dimensions not only can be used to measure trap parameters but also have potential applications in atomic interferometry and precise measurements.

LSTM-based argument recommendation for non-API methods

Automatic code completion is one of the most useful features provided by advanced IDEs. Argument recommendation, as a special kind of code completion, is widely used as well. While existing approaches focus on argument recommendation for popular APIs, a large number of non-API invocations are requesting for accurate argument recommendation as well. To this end, we propose an LSTM-based approach to recommending non-API arguments instantly when method calls are typed in. With data collected from a large corpus of open-source applications, we train an LSTM neural network to recommend actual arguments based on identifiers of the invoked method, the corresponding formal parameter, and a list of syntactically correct candidate arguments. To feed these identifiers into the LSTM neural network, we convert them into fixed-length vectors by Paragraph Vector, an unsupervised neural network based learning algorithm. With the resulting LSTM neural network trained on sample applications, for a given call site we can predict which of the candidate arguments is more likely to be the correct one. We evaluate the proposed approach with tenfold validation on 85 open-source C applications. Results suggest that the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in recommending non-API arguments. It improves the precision significantly from 71.46% to 83.37%.

Asymmetric Superradiant Scattering Patterns from Bose-Einstein Condensates

The asymmetric patterns of superradiance from Bose-Einstein condensates are studied for the spatially inhomogeneous pump pulse with the semiclassical Maxwell-Schrodinger equations. The coupling dynamics between the optical field and condensate in the strong pulse and a faded wing in the weak coupling regime are discussed, which not only explain the spatial effects in the process of superradiance, but also supply a new method to control its patterns.
