An edge computing-based embedded traffic information processing approach: application of deep learning in existing traffic systems

To address traffic congestion, this study improves Mobile Netv2-you only look once version 4(YOLOv4) target detection algorithm(Mobile Netv2-YOLOv4-K++F) and introduces an embedded traffic information processing solution based on edge computing. We transition models initially designed for large-scale graphics processing units(GPUs) to edge computing devices, maximizing the strengths of both deep learning and edge computing technologies. This approach integrates embedded devices with the current traffic system, eliminating the need for extensive equipment updates. The solution enables real-time traffic flow monitoring and license plate recognition at the edge, synchronizing instantaneously with the cloud, allowing for intelligent adjustments of traffic signals and accident forewarnings, enhancing road utilization, and facilitating traffic flow optimization. Through on-site testing using the RK3399PRO development board and the Mobile Netv2-YOLOv4-K++F object detection algorithm, the upgrade costs of this approach are less than one-tenth of conventional methods. Under favorable weather conditions, the traffic flow detection accuracy reaches as high as 98%, with license plate recognition exceeding 80%.

The mechanical behavior and microstructural evolution of an Fe-30Mn-3Al-3Si twinninginduced plasticity(TWIP)steel processed using warm forging was *** is found that steel processed via warm forging improves comprehensive mechanical properties compared to the TWIP steel processed via cold rolling,with a high tensile strength(R_(m))of 793 MPa,a yield strength(R_(P))of 682 MPa,an extremely large R_(P)/R_(m)ratio as high as 0.86 as well as an excellent elongation rate of 46.8%.The microstructure observation demonstrates that steel processed by warm forging consists of large and elongated grains together with fine,equiaxed *** micro-defect configurations were also observed within the steel,including dense dislocation networks and a few coarse deformation *** the plastic deformation proceeds,the densities of dislocations and deformation twins significantly ***,a great number of slip lines could be observed in the elongated *** findings reveal that a much more dramatic interaction between microstructural defect and dislocations glide takes place in the forging sample,wherein the fine and equiaxed grains propagated dislocations more rapidly,together with initial defect configurations,are responsible for enhanced strength ***,larger,elongated grains with more prevalently activated deformation twins result in high plasticity.

Bilayer transition metal dichalcogenides（TMDs） balance the high mobility of single layers with the high state density of multilayers and therefore have promising application prospects in high-performance electronics. However, the layer-controlled growth of 2D materials is still confronted with challenges such as poor repeatability between different labs and a limited understanding of the growth mechanism at the atomic scale. Herein, we report a new carbon-assisted chemical vapor deposition process that can realize the growth of WS2sheets with high yield, precise thickness controllability, and repeatability. We show that carbon can act as a reducing agent and catalyst that preferentially reacts with the WO3precursor to form intermediate WO3-xproducts with low-valence state W. The resulting oxycarbide gas has a low surface adsorption energy when deposited on the surface of as-grown WS2, which provides nucleation sites for the subsequent layer of WS2growth and leads to the vertical growth of WS2sheets. The growth mechanism is thoroughly investigated. Electrical transport measurements show that the produced bilayer WS2possesses a high carrier mobility(up to 58 cm2·V-1·s-1) and small subthreshold swing（estimated to be 148 mV/decade）,which are among the best reported results for TMDs produced using CVD.

Atomic time scale imaging,opening a new era for studying dynamics in microcosmos,is presently attracting immense research interest on the global level due to its powerful *** the atom level,physics,chemistry,and biology are identical for researching atom motion and atomic state *** light possesses twoness,the information carrier and the research *** most fundamental principle of this imaging is that light records the event-modulated light field by itself,so-called all-optical *** paper can answer what is the essential standard to develop and evaluate atomic time scale imaging,what is the optimal imaging system,and what are the typical techniques to implement this imaging,up to *** present,the best record in the experiment,made by multistage optical parametric amplification(MOPA),is realizing 50-fs resolved optical imaging with a spatial resolution of~83 lp/mm at an effective framing rate of 15×10^(12)fps for recording an ultrafast optical lattice with its rotating speed up to 13.5×10^(12)rad/s.

Underwater direction of arrival(DOA)estimation has always been a very challenging theoretical and practical *** to the serious non-stationary,non-linear,and non-Gaussian characteristics,machine learning based DOA estimation methods trained on simulated Gaussian noised array data cannot be directly applied to actual underwater DOA estimation *** order to deal with this problem,environmental data with no target echoes can be employed to analyze the non-Gaussian ***,the obtained information about non-Gaussian components can be used to whiten the array *** on these considerations,a novel practical sonar array whitening method was ***,based on a weak assumption that the non-Gaussian components in adjacent patches with and without target echoes are almost the same,canonical cor-relation analysis(CCA)and non-negative matrix factorization(NMF)techniques are employed for whitening the array *** the whitened array data,machine learning based DOA estimation models trained on simulated Gaussian noised datasets can be used to perform underwater DOA estimation *** results illustrated that,using actual underwater datasets for testing with known machine learning based DOA estimation models,accurate and robust DOA estimation performance can be achieved by using the proposed whitening method in different underwater con-ditions.

This study investigates the properties of exciton-polaritons in a two-dimensional(2D)hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite microcavity in the presence of optical Stark *** both steady and dynamic state analyses,strong coupling between excitons of perovskite and cavity photons is revealed,indicating the formation of polaritons in the perovskite ***,it is found that an external optical Stark pulse can induce energy shifts of excitons proportional to the pulse intensity,which modifies the dispersion characteristics of the polaritons.

Spectral compressive imaging has emerged as a powerful technique to collect the 3D spectral information as 2D *** algorithm for restoring the original 3D hyperspectral images(HSIs)from compressive measurements is pivotal in the imaging *** approaches painstakingly designed networks to directly map compressive measurements to HSIs,resulting in the lack of interpretability without exploiting the imaging *** some recent works have introduced the deep unfolding framework for explainable reconstruction,the performance of these methods is still limited by the weak information transmission between iterative *** this paper,we propose a Memory-Augmented deep Unfolding Network,termed MAUN,for explainable and accurate HSI ***,MAUN implements a novel CNN scheme to facilitate a better extrapolation step of the fast iterative shrinkage-thresholding algorithm,introducing an extra momentum incorporation step for each iteration to alleviate the information ***,to exploit the high correlation of intermediate images from neighboring iterations,we customize a cross-stage transformer(CSFormer)as the deep denoiser to simultaneously capture self-similarity from both in-stage and cross-stage features,which is the first attempt to model the long-distance dependencies between iteration *** experiments demonstrate that the proposed MAUN is superior to other state-of-the-art methods both visually and *** code is publicly available at https://***/HuQ1an/MAUN.

The experimental realization of Rydberg dressing technology in ultracold atomic systems provides another superior platform for studying novel states of matter and macroscopic quantum *** this work,based on the mean-field theory,we have investigated the ground-state phases of a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate with Rydberg interaction and confined in a toroidal *** effects of the Rydberg interaction and external potential,especially the Rydberg blockade radius,on the ground-state structure of such a system have been investigated in full parameter *** results show that the Rydberg blockade radius,which can be regarded as another controllable parameter,can be used to obtain a variety of ground-state *** interestingly,it is found that for weak Rydberg interactions,the Rydberg blockade radius breaks the spontaneous rotational symmetry of the system,leading to the formation of a discrete unit cell *** strongly interacting cases,it can be used to realize different orders of discrete rotational symmetry breaking.
