Blindness-free beam scanning antenna with array of array architecture: principle,design,and experiment

This paper presents a 66–76-GHz sparsely-excited phased array antenna with the array of array(Ao A) architecture for eliminating the blindness and suppressing the grating lobe when scanning. For the array antennas printed on the thick dielectric layers with high relative permittivity, scanning blindness appears and seriously impacts the radiation performance. To address this issue, the Ao A topology is developed first. It finds that the scanning blindness appears due to the coupling of the radiating Floquet modes to the non-radiating surface wave(SW) modes. Therefore, the array is divided into two types of domino *** inner-phase distributions are introduced into the domino subarrays to break the one-to-one relationship between the Floquet mode and the SW mode. Then, the blindness inside ±60° scanning volume is eliminated by the aperiodic subarrays. Meanwhile, the aperiodic inner-phase distributions enhance the aperiodicity of the array and contribute to suppressing the grating lobe when scanning. Next, the meta-surface-based dipole with the shorted post is chosen as the unit cell for the proposed aperiodic array. Based on these methods,the array achieves the wide-scanning performance of ±60° in the E-plane and ±30° in the H-plane, without the blindness and the grating lobe. Finally, the 16×16 array is built and simulated with the dimension of32 mm × 32 mm. At the highest operating frequency, the simulated gains are 28.42, 25.17, and 24.01 d Bi when scanning to the broadside, 50° in the E-plane, and 30° in the H-plane, respectively. Compared to the ideal gain, it shows that the simulated radiation efficiency is about 84.13%, 62.08%, and 35.23% when scanning to the broadside, 50° in the E-plane, and 30° in the H-plane, respectively. Current methods for point cloud semantic segmentation depend on the extraction of descriptive features. However, unlike images, point clouds are irregular and often lack texture information, making it demanding to extract discriminative features. In addition, noise, outliers, and uneven point distribution are commonly present in point clouds, which further complicates the segmentation task. To address these problems, a novel architecture is proposed for direct and accurate large-scale point cloud segmentation based on point cloud retrieval and alignment. The proposed approach involves using a feature-based point cloud retrieval method for searching for reference point clouds with annotations from a dataset. In the following segmentation stage, an overlap-based point cloud registration method has been developed to align the target and reference point clouds. For accurate and robust alignment, an overlap region estimation module is trained to locate the optimal overlap region between two pieces of point clouds in a coarse-to-fine manner. In the detected overlap region, the global and local features of the points are extracted and combined for featuremetric registration to obtain accurate transformation parameters between the target and reference point clouds. After alignment, the annotated segmentation of the reference is transferred to the target point clouds to obtain accurate segmentation results. Extensive experiments are conducted to show that the developed method outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in terms of both accuracy and robustness against noise and outliers.

Rethinking attribute localization for zero-shot learning

Recent advancements in attribute localization have showcased its potential in discovering the intrinsic semantic knowledge for visual feature representations, thereby facilitating significant visual-semantic interactions essential for zero-shot learning(ZSL). However, the majority of existing attribute localization methods heavily rely on classification constraints, resulting in accurate localization of only a few attributes while neglecting the rest important attributes associated with other classes. This limitation hinders the discovery of the intrinsic semantic relationships between attributes and visual features across all *** address this problem, we propose a novel attribute localization refinement(ALR) module designed to enhance the model's ability to accurately localize all attributes. Essentially, we enhance weak discriminant attributes by grouping them and introduce weighted attribute regression to standardize the mapping values of semantic attributes. This module can be flexibly combined with existing attribute localization *** experiments show that when combined with the ALR module, the localization errors in existing methods are corrected, and state-of-the-art classification performance is achieved.

Adversarial implementations of cryptographic primitives called kleptographic attacks cause the leakage of secret information. Subliminal channel attacks are one of the kleptographic attacks. In such attacks, backdoors are embedded in implementations of randomized algorithms to elaborately control randomness generation, such that the secrets will be leaked from biased outputs. To thwart subliminal channel attacks, double-splitting is a feasible solution, which splits the randomness generator of a randomized algorithm into two independent generators. In this paper, we instantiate double-splitting to propose a secure randomness generation algorithm dubbed SRG using two physically independent generators: ordinary and public randomness generators. Based on public blockchains, we construct the public randomness generator,which can be verified publicly. Hashes of a sufficient number of consecutive blocks that are newly confirmed on a blockchain are used to produce public randomness. In SRG, outputs from the two generators are taken as inputs of an immunization function. SRG accomplishes immunization against subliminal channel ***, we discuss the application strategies of SRG for symmetric and public-key encryption.

Mode Competition of Low Voltage Backward Wave Oscillator near 500 GHz with Parallel Multi-Beam

A backward wave oscillator with parallel multiple beams and multi-pin slow-wave structure(SWS)operating at the frequency above 500 GHz is studied. Both the cold-cavity dispersion characteristics and CST Particle Studio simulation results reveal that there are obvious mode competition problems in this kind of terahertz *** that the structure of the multi-pin SWS is similar to that of two-dimensional photonic crystals, we introduce the defects of photonic crystal with the property of filtering into the SWS to suppress high-order ***, a detailed study of the effect of suppressing higher-order modes is carried out in the process of changing location and arrangement pattern of the point defects. The stable, single-mode operation of the terahertz source is realized. The simulation results show that the ratio of the output peak power of the higher-order modes to that of the fundamental mode is less than 1.9%. Also, the source can provide the output peak power of 44.8 m W at the frequency of 502.2 GHz in the case of low beam voltage of 4.7 kV.

Fast Cross-Platform Binary Code Similarity Detection Framework Based on CFGs Taking Advantage of NLP and Inductive GNN

Cross-platform binary code similarity detection aims at detecting whether two or more pieces of binary code are similar or not. Existing approaches that combine control flow graphs(CFGs)-based function representation and graph convolutional network(GCN)-based similarity analysis are the best-performing ones. Due to a large amount of convolutional computation and the loss of structural information, the use of convolution networks will inevitably bring problems such as high overhead and sometimes inaccuracy. To address these issues, we propose a fast cross-platform binary code similarity detection framework that takes advantage of natural language processing(NLP)and inductive graph neural network(GNN) for basic blocks embedding and function representation respectively by simulating extracting structural features and temporal features. GNN’s node-centric and small batch is a suitable training way for large CFGs, it can greatly reduce computational overhead. Various NLP basic block embedding models and GNNs are evaluated. Experimental results show that the scheme with long short term memory(LSTM)for basic blocks embedding and inductive learning-based Graph SAGE(GAE) for function representation outperforms the state-of-the-art works. In our framework, we can take only 45% overhead. Improve efficiency significantly with a small performance trade-off.

SWG: an architecture for sparse weight gradient computation

On-device training for deep neural networks(DNN) has become a trend due to various user preferences and scenarios. The DNN training process consists of three phases, feedforward(FF), backpropagation(BP), and weight gradient(WG) update. WG takes about one-third of the computation in the whole training process. Current training accelerators usually ignore the special computation property of WG and process it in a way similar to FF/BP. Besides, the extensive data sparsity existing in WG, which brings opportunities to save computation, is not well explored. Nevertheless, exploiting the optimization opportunities would meet three underutilization problems, which are caused by(1) the mismatch between WG data dimensions and hardware parallelism,(2) the full sparsity, i.e., the sparsity of feature map(Fmap),error map(Emap), and gradient, and(3) the workload imbalance resulting from irregular sparsity. In this paper, we propose a specific architecture for sparse weight gradient(SWG) computation. The architecture is designed based on hierarchical unrolling and sparsity-aware(HUSA) dataflow to exploit the optimization opportunities of the special computation property and full data sparsity. In HUSA dataflow, the data dimensions are unrolled hierarchically on the hardware architecture. A valid-data trace(VDT) mechanism is embedded in the dataflow to avoid the underutilization caused by the two-sided input sparsity. The gradient is unrolled in PE to alleviate the underutilization induced by output sparsity while maintaining the data reuse opportunities. Besides, we design an intra-and inter-column balancer(IIBLC) to dynamically tackle the workload imbalance problem resulting from the irregular sparsity. Experimental results show that with HUSA dataflow exploiting the full sparsity, SWG achieves a speedup of 12.23× over state-of-the-art gradient computation architecture, Train Ware. Electromagnetic topological chiral edge states mimicking the quantum Hall effect have attracted a great deal of attention due to their unique features of free backscattering and immunity against sharp bends and ***,the matching techniques between classical waveguides and the topological one-way waveguide deserve more attention for real-world *** this paper,a highly efficient conversion structure between a classical rectangular waveguide and a topological one-way waveguide is proposed and demonstrated at the microwave frequency,which efficiently converts classical guided waves to topological one-way edge states.A tapered transition is designed to match both the momentum and impedance of the classical guided waves and the topological one-way edge *** the conversion structure,the waves generated by a point excitation source can be coupled to the topological one-way waveguide with very high coupling efficiency,which can ensure high transmission of the whole system(i.e.,from the source and the receiver).Simulation and measurement results demonstrate the proposed *** investigation is beneficial to the applications of topological one-way waveguides and opens up a new avenue for advanced topological and classical integrated functional devices and systems.
