This paper attempts to explore the decoupling relationship and its drivers between industrial economic increase and energy-related CO_(2) emissions(ICE). Firstly, the decoupling relationship was evaluated by Tapio index. Then, based on the DEA meta-frontier theory framework which taking into account the regional and industrial heterogeneity and index decomposition method, the driving factors of decoupling process were explored mainly from the view of technology and efficiency. The results show that during2000-2019, weak decoupling was the primary state. Investment scale expansion was the largest reason hindering decoupling process of industrial increase from ICE. Both energy saving and production technology achieved significant progress, which facilitated the decoupling process. Simultaneously, the energy technology gap and production technology gap among regions have been narrowed, and played a role in promoting decoupling process. On the contrary, both scale economy efficiency and pure technical efficiency have inhibiting effects on decoupling process. The former indicates that the scale economy of China's industry was not conducive to improve energy efficiency and production efficiency, while the latter indicates that resource misallocation problem may exist in both energy market and product market.

This paper examines a decentralized admission control system with partial capacity sharing in a hospital setting. The admission decision is made by each physician who is assigned a number of dedicated inpatient beds. A physician can “borrow” beds from other physicians if his dedicated beds are all occupied. We seek to understand the impact of the “borrowing cost” on physicians’ admission behavior. We find that (i) If the borrowing cost is low, a physician tends to admit lower-risk patients when either his or others’ capacity utilization is higher;(ii) If the borrowing cost is moderate, a physician tends to admit higher (lower)-risk patients when his (others’) capacity utilization is higher;and (iii) If the borrowing cost is high, a physician tends to admit higher-risk patients when either his or others’ capacity utilization is higher. We then empirically test and validate these findings. Our work demonstrates that when designing strategic admission control systems, it is important to quantify and perhaps then influence the magnitude of the borrowing cost to induce a proper level of competition without sacrificing the benefit of resource pooling.

Cause-related marketing(CRM),as an organic combination of marketing and corporate social responsibility(CSR),has been widely used in the supply chain.However,the existing literature rarely studies the CRM strategy the in the supply chain.This paper explores the pricing decisions and CRM strategy of supply chain members by examining a supply chain system consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer,where the manufacturer produces two quality differentiated products.By developing a Stackelberg model for three scenarios,including the No CRM strategy,CRM strategy for the high-quality product,and CRM strategy for the low-quality product,this paper finds that the CRM strategy will result in higher wholesale and sales prices for the cause-related product.In addition,consumers’pro-sociality and the degree of product quality differentiation are critical to the manufacturer’s choice of CRM strategy.When the quality difference differs significantly,the manufacturer should implement CRM for the high-quality product in a market with low consumer pro-sociality and for the low-quality product in a market with high consumer pro-sociality;when the product quality difference is slight,the manufacturer should choose to implement CRM for the low-quality product regardless of consumer’s pro-sociality.Furthermore,the model is extended to that the retailer implements the CRM strategy and a retailer-led supply chain.The results indicate that CRM strategy in the supply chain is not influenced by the implementing entity or the supply chain leader.

In the majority of the previous works on discrete-event stochastic systems,they have been assumed to have independent input processes.However,in many applications,these input processes can be highly correlated.Furthermore,the performance measures of the systems with correlated inputs can be significantly different from those with independent inputs.In this paper,we provide an overview on some commonly used methods for modeling correlated input processes,and we discuss the difficulties and possible future research topics in the study of discrete-event stochastic systems with correlated inputs.

Cloud Manufacturing(CMfg),combining with the technologies of Cloud computing and Internet of Things,is an intelligent networked manufacturing model,which can quickly integrate various distributed manufacturing resources for collaboratively completing the complex and customized manufacturing tasks.One of the key technologies supporting this model is the optimal manufacturing resources in the CMfg systems,typically machine tools(MTs).In this paper,the attributes of MTs in cloud environment are analyzed,the constraint relationship between the attributes and the optimization criteria of MTs is established,and an optimization method of MTs based on rough set is proposed.Finally,a case study is discussed to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Option pricing problem is one of the central issue in the theory of modern finance.Uncertain currency model has been put forward under the foundation of uncertainty theory as a tool to portray the foreign exchange rate in uncertain finance market.This paper uses uncertain differential equation involved by Liu process to dispose of the foreign exchange rate.Then an American barrier option of currency model in uncertain environment is investigated.Most important of all,the authors deduce the formulas to price four types of American barrier options for this currency model in uncertain environment by rigorous derivation.

Promoting the use of ethanol gasoline is an important approach for China to achieve sustainable and high quality development.Based on the daily air quality data of Tianjin,China,from 2013 to 2020,this paper investigates whether the implementation of the ethanol gasoline policy helped improve air quality using regression discontinuity analysis.We find that the implementation of the ethanol gasoline policy had a very limited positive effect on the overall air quality index(AQI)and no obvious effect on the reduction of particulate matter(PM_(2.5) and PM_(10)).However,the results reveal that the ethanol gasoline policy reduced SO_(2),NO_(2),and CO by about 36%,19%,and 20%,respectively.These findings provide policy insights for other cities in China and other rapidly developing cities in the world to promote the use of ethanol gasoline.

Mg-RE(magnesium-rare earth)alloys exhibit pronounced in-plane anisotropy of mechanical response under quasi-static monotonic loading resulting from the RE texture,as extensively reported.In this work,an obvious in-plane anisotropy of cyclic deformation behavior was observed in an extruded Mg-3Y alloy sheet during strain-controlled tension-compression low-cycle fatigue(LCF)at room temperature.The extrusion direction(ED)samples displayed better fatigue resistance with almost symmetrical hysteresis loops and longer fatigue life compared with the transverse direction(TD)samples.The influences of texture on the deformation modes,cracking modes,and mechanical behavior of Mg-Y alloy sheets under cyclic loading were studied quantitatively and statistically.The activation of various slip/twinning-detwinning systems was measured at desired fatigue stages via EBSD observations together with in-grain misorientation axes(IGMA)analysis.The results indicate that the activation of deformation modes in the TD sample was featured by the cyclic transition,i.e.,prismatic slip(at the tensile interval)→{10–12}tension twinning(at the compressive reversal)→detwinning+prismatic slip(at the re-tensile reversal).In the case of the ED sample,the cyclic deformation was dominated by the basal slip throughout the fatigue life.For cracking modes,intergranular cracking and persistent slip bands(PSB)cracking were the primary cracking modes in the ED sample while the TD sample showed a high tendency of{10–12}tension twinning cracking(TTW cracking).The underlying mechanisms influencing the activation of various slip/twinning-detwinning systems,as well as cracking modes and cyclic mechanical behavior,were discussed.

This paper investigates the ordering policy for the newsvendor problem with customer balking and penalties for balking and stockout. Our analysis is based on the assumption that only the mean and the variance of the demand distribution are known. In contrast to the existing research, we provide a new tradeoff tool as a replacement of the traditional one to weigh the holding cost and the goodwill cost segment： the balking penalty cost and the stockout penalty cost. Specifically, in addition to the stockout penalty, we also introduce the balking penalty, provide a new proof of the optimality of robust ordering policy to guarantee that the lower bound of expected profit obtained by us is tight, and get an robust optimal order quantity which is an exact solution but not an approximate one as before. Numerical experiments are conducted to illustrate the effect of penalties for balking and stockout.

As the largest manufacturing country,China is striving to improve the development quality of its power industry with the goal of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality,in order to sustain its high-quality economic growth.In this regard,it is of importance to reveal both the regional development level of China’s power sector and its characteristics in terms of inspiring the next improvement direction.Motived by this purpose,this paper constructs an evaluation indicator system from three dimensions at the province level based on the connotation of high-quality development of the power industry(HDPI).Next,it calculates the HDPI indexes of 30 provinces and explore their development trend and spatial pattern.The results indicate that the total comprehensive performance of all regions was improved in general in the recent decade,but the spatial distribution characteristics of clean,low-carbon,safe and efficient are different.In the aspects of improvement space in future,not only do actively ameliorate the related management regimes or technical fields so as to improve the corresponding indicators’value,but also passively rely on the macro-development such as China’s urbanization level improvement,technological level improvement,and industrial structure upgrading as usual.
