Although precious transition metals such as palladium,platinum,and iridium are widely used in hydrogenation reactions,the earth-abundant transition metal-catalyzed highly selective semi-hydrogenation of terminal alkynes to terminal alkenes remains poorly developed and a *** we demonstrate the excellent selective,cost-effective semi-hydrogenation of terminal alkynes via a novel graphene encapsulated Ni@N/C *** graphene layer encapsulated nano-catalyst Ni@N/C could significantly avoid metal leaching and improve the stability of the *** strong interaction of nitrogen with the Ni nanoparticles regulates the activity of Ni towards selective semi-hydrogenation of terminal *** having un-functionalized as well as functionalized substituents,and substrates having sensitive functional groups(olefins,ketones)which pose a challenge to hydrogenate,were semi-hydrogenated with excellent conversion(up to 99%)and selectivity(up to 99%)under optimized reaction conditions.

This study is a part of a global approach in which, the main purpose is to understand the reasons behind the upsurge of flood events in the peri-urban area of the city of Dakar. Hydrological and hydraulics simulations were carried out to assess the risks of overflowing of the Lake Warouwaye after a so-called exceptional rain. Data were collected through field surveys, as well as site observations of dwellings before and after rain episodes. The simulations were performed using EPA’s Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) software with input data obtained from sub-software and supervisory applications such as Google earth, Excel, and Global Mapper. The simulation results show factors of natural and anthropogenic origin may contribute to dysfunction hydrological elements such as the watershed capacity to drain and store water. In light of the results of this study, institutional governance efforts are to be made and to be sustained in order to reverse the tendency to occupy rainwater natural flow channels. It will also be necessary to involve the first actors who are the potential victims of flooding caused by the recurrent overflow of reservoirs.

A new implementation of FLEXPART with Enviro-HIRLAM meteorological input,and a case study during a heavy air pollution event

The purpose of this paper is to examine potential air pollution reductions by shifting people’s transport pattern into public buses from passenger cars. A quantitative survey approach is used to estimate car driver’s transport characteristics and some data are collected from local council website for public bus journeys. DMRB(Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) excel spread sheet is used to calculate local and regional air pollution emissions from passenger vehicles and public buses. In this research, I have found that there is a high potential of people prefer public buses in future but this potential does not provide to decrease all emissions of 30% of reductions because NOx emissions decrease less than other pollutants. Another important finding is that new local benzene and 1.3-butadieneair quality values could meet the national air pollution standards, if the 42% of car drivers are encouraged to travel by public buses in Ankara.

We integrated Enviro-HIRLAM(environment-High Resolution Limited Area Model)meteorological output into FLEXPART(FLEXible PARTicle dispersion model).A FLEXPART simulation requires meteorological input from a numerical weather prediction(NWP)*** publicly available version of FLEXPART can utilize either ECMWF(European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts)Integrated Forecast System(IFS)forecast or reanalysis NWP data,or NCEP(*** Center for environmental Prediction)Global Forecast System(GFS)forecast or reanalysis NWP *** primary benefits of using Enviro-HIRLAM are that it runs at a higher resolution and accounts for aerosol effects in meteorological *** compared backward trajectories gener-ated with FLEXPART using Enviro-HIRLAM(both with and without aerosol effects)to trajectories generated using NCEP GFS and ECMWF IFS meteorological inputs,for a case study of a heavy haze event which occurred in Beijing,China in November *** found that results from FLEXPART were considerably different when using different meteorological *** aerosol effects were included in the NWP,there was a small but noticeable differ-ence in calculated ***,when looking at potential emission sensitivity instead of simply expressing trajectories as lines,additional information,which may have been missed when looking only at trajectories as lines,can be inferred.

As the world seeks to increase ambition rapidly to limit global warming to 1.5℃,joint leadership from the world's largest greenhouse gas(GHG)emitters-the United States(U.S.)and China-will be critical to deliver significant emissions reductions from their own countries as well as to catalyze increased international *** a period of uncertainty in international climate policy,these countries now both have current leadership that supports ambitious climate *** this context,a feasible,high-impact,and potentially globally catalytic agreement by the *** China to transition away from coal to clean energy would be a major contribution toward this global *** undertake a plant-by-plant assessment in the power sector to identify practical coal retirement pathways for each country that are in line with national priorities and the global 1.5℃ *** plant-by-plant analysis shows that the 1.5℃-compatible pathways may result in an average retirement age of 47 years for the *** plants and 22 years for Chinese coal plants,raising important questions of how to compare broader economic,employment,and social *** also demonstrate that such pathways would also lead to significant emissions reductions,lowering overall global energy-related CO_(2) emissions by about 9%in 2030 relative to 2020.A catalytic effect from the possibility of other countries taking compatible actions is estimated to reduce global emissions by 5.1 Gt CO_(2) in 2030 and by 10.1 Gt CO_(2) in 2045.

Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) has been proposed as a concept that combines the cultivation of fed aquaculture species (e.g., finfish/shrimp) with extractive aquaculture species (e.g., shellfish/seaweed). In seaweed-based integrated aquaculture, seaweeds have the capacity to reduce the environmental impact of nitrogen-rich effluents on coastal ecosystems. Thus, selection of optimal species for such aquaculture is of great importance. The present study aimed to develop a seaweed species-selection index for selecting suitable species in seaweed-based integrated aquaculture system. The index was synthesized using available literature-based information, reference data, and physiological seaweed experiments to identify and prioritize the desired species. Undaria pinnatifida, Porphyra yezoensis and Ulva compressa scored the highest according to a seaweed-based integrated aquaculture suitability index (SASI). Seaweed species with the highest scores were adjudged to fit the integrated aquaculture systems. Despite the application of this model limited by local aquaculture environment, it is considered to be a useful tool for selecting seaweed species in IMTA.

The supply of drinking water from aquifers of base remains problematic because of his complexity. The combination of several methods is more adapted for the mapping of water establishment favorable areas. This study is focused on water points establishment favorable areas mapping. The methods used are remote sensing, pump tests sheets for determining aquifers and saprolites thickness. To determine the recharge, GR2M Method and drainage density has been used. The digital elevation model (DEM) has been used to generate slopes and drainage density maps. The thematic maps obtained combined under GIS to produce water potentiality map. The results obtained have been with exploitation rates. Three classes of potentialities have been identified. These are classes of high potentialities in groundwater which cover approximately 20% of the study area. It occurs mainly in central areas where there are sedimentary formations usually captured by the drilling. These areas are generally located in the central part, mainly in areas where there is low slope, important with a thick layer of saprolites.

Among the environmental threats,the intensification of natural hazards,such as soil erosion may threaten the integrity and value of cultural heritage *** this framework,the present study’s main objective was to identify archaeological sites susceptible by soil erosion,taking the case study of Chania prefecture in Crete *** sensed and other available geospatial datasets were analyzed in a GIS-based empirical model,namely Unit Stream Power Erosion and Deposition(USPED),to estimate the average annual soil loss and deposition rates due to waterinduced erosion in the study *** resultant erosion map was then intersected with the locations and surrounding zones of the known archaeological sites for identifying the sites and the portions of their vicinity being at *** results revealed that Chania prefecture and its cultural heritage are significantly affected by both soil loss and deposition *** the two processes,soil loss was found to be more intensive,influencing a larger part of the prefecture(especially to the west)as well as a higher amount of archaeological *** extreme and high soil loss classes were also detected to cover the most considerable portion of the sites’surrounding *** identification of the archaeological sites being most exposed to soil erosion hazard can constitute a basis for cultural heritage managers in order to take preventive preserva-tion measures and develop specific risk mitigation strategies.

This study will both compare and contrast the characteristics and roles of two pollutants: nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide. It will begin by tracing each gas’ negative contributions to the earth’s spheres, as well as relate any negative links that each plays concerning human activity, health, and interaction with the environment. It will include an in-depth analysis of what the proliferation of such toxic gases indicates about human production and causality, plus reflect on any current attempts being made to improve the effects of these pollutants on the environment. This examination will also inspect three NASA missions, i.e., MOPITT/Terra, AIRS/Aqua, and OMI/Aura, the aim of which, among many other tasks, is to detect pollutants within the earth’s various spheres, as well as analyze weather anomalies, improve prediction methodology, and chronicle meteorological patterns for future study. It will also cover some of the goals, engineering breakthroughs, and in one case, the limitations, of these three satellite missions. Finally, it should be noted that in all stages of this discussion, the author’s main aim will be to focus on the positives that need to be implemented in order to improve the current situations that both anthropogenic and natural disasters have created for the planet.
