Cholesterol metabolism: physiological versus pathological aspects in intracerebral hemorrhage

Cholesterol is an important component of plasma membranes and participates in many basic life functions,such as the maintenance of cell membrane stability,the synthesis of steroid hormones,and *** plays a key role in the establishment and maintenance of the central nervous *** brain contains 20%of the whole body’s cholesterol,80%of which is located within myelin.A huge number of processes(e.g.,the sterol regulatory element-binding protein pathway and liver X receptor pathway)participate in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism in the brain via mechanisms that include cholesterol biosynthesis,intracellular transport,and *** brain injuries or diseases involving crosstalk among the processes above can affect normal cholesterol metabolism to induce detrimental ***,we hypothesized that cholesterol-related molecules and pathways can serve as therapeutic targets for central nervous system *** hemorrhage is the most severe hemorrhagic stroke subtype,with high mortality and *** cholesterol levels are associated with the risk of intracerebral ***,secondary pathological changes after intracerebral hemorrhage are associated with cholesterol metabolism dysregulation,such as neuroinflammation,demyelination,and multiple types of programmed cell *** cholesterol accumulation in the brain has been found after intracerebral *** this paper,we review normal cholesterol metabolism in the central nervous system,the mechanisms known to participate in the disturbance of cholesterol metabolism after intracerebral hemorrhage,and the links between cholesterol metabolism and cell *** also review several possible and constructive therapeutic targets identified based on cholesterol metabolism to provide cholesterol-based perspectives and a reference for those interested in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage.

Microwave-assisted in situ synthesis of fluorescent gold nanoclusters with BSA/montmorillonite and application on latent fingermark imaging

A method for in situ preparation of fluorescent gold nanoclusters(Au NCs) with bovine serum albumin/montmorillonite composite powder(Au NC-BSA/MMT) was developed, and the products were used to detect latent fingermarks. In this work, Au NCs were "grown" both inside and on the surface of BSA/MMT clay using one-step reduction of HAu Cl4 by BSA. The as-prepared Au NC-BSA/MMT nanocomposites emit intensive red fluorescence under the excitation of UV-visible light and show stable chemical features and low toxicity. The obtained fluorescent powders were characterized by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy,fluorescence spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy/high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction to depict their sizes, structural information and optical features. Given their environmentally friendly preparation, simple operation, low cost, efficient UVvisible radiation-dependent photoluminescence and good affinity with finger residues, the in situ synthesized Au NC-BSA/MMT nanocomposite powders were used as an alternative fluorescent developing reagent for developing latent fingermarks deposited on various object surfaces(such as glass, aluminum foil, painted metal, plastic products and weighing papers) for individual identification. As results, the developed fingermarks with clear patterns and satisfactory level-2(minutiae points) and level-3(sweat pores) ridge details were obtained. Notably, treated prints could be excited by red light and emitted near infrared fluorescence, which was beneficial to avoid background interference and reduce the damage caused by UV light. With the advantages of the simple preparation process and good enhancement performance for latent fingermarks, the proposed method might be used in the preparation of various fluorescent probes for detecting trace evidence in forensic sciences.

In recent years,various speech embedding methods based on deep learning have been proposed and have shown better performance in speaker *** new technologies will inevitably promote the development of forensic speaker *** propose a new forensic speaker verification method based on embeddings trained with loss function called generalized end-to-end(GE2E)***,a long short-term memory(LSTM)based deep neural network(DNN)is trained as the embedding extractor,then the cosine similarity scores between embeddings from same speaker comparison pairs and different speaker comparison pairs are trained to represent within-speaker model and between-speaker model respectively,and finally,the cosine similarity scores between the questioned embeddings and enrolled embeddings are evaluated in the above two models to get the likelihood ratio(LR)*** the subset of LibriSpeech,test-other-500,we achieve a new state of the *** all the same speaker comparison pairs and different speaker comparison pairs get correct results and can provide considerable strong evidence strength for courts.

Mitochondrial genome sequencing with short overlapping amplicons on MiSeq FGx system

With the development and maturation of massively parallel sequencing(MPS)technology,the mitochondrial genome(mitogenome)sequencing is increasingly applied in the forensic *** this study,we employed the strategy of short overlapping amplicons for the whole mitogenome,library preparation with tagmentation using the Nextera®XT DNA Library Preparation Kit,sequencing on the MiSeq FGxTM forensic Genomics System and analyzing data using the mitochondrial(mtDNA)MSR Plug-in and the mtDNA Variant Analyzer.A total of 27 libraries and 56 libraries were sequenced in a run using MiSeq Reagent Kit v2 and v3,*** showed more than 1800×of averaged depth of coverage(DoC)at each *** haplotypes of 9947 A and 2800 M were obtained at 32 ***-reactivity was observed with 1 ng primate DNA and 10 ng non-primate DNA but could be easily *** and accurate variants were obtained from at least 50 pg input DNA and from minor contributors between 19:1 and 1:19 mixed ratios with known reference *** than 86%variants were detected from≥200-bp degraded samples but its haplotype was assigned to more ancestral ***,a total of 3962 variants were observed at 613 nucleotide positions from 103 Xibe mitogenomes with 25:1 ratio of transitions to *** new transversions(C13735A and A14755C)and two tri-alleles at nps 9824 and 16092 were *** were 103 unique mitogenome haplotypes from 103 Chinese Xibe that were assigned to 79 *** D was the preponderant top-level haplogroup in Xibe followed by F,B,M,A,N,G,C,Z,Y,HV and *** match probability(RMP)and haplotype diversity(HD)of the whole mitogenome was calculated as 0.0097 and 1.0000,*** with HVS-I only,RMP decreased 33.56%,while the number of haplotypes and HD increased 15.73%and 0.49%,*** component analysis(PCA)showed that Xibe was clustered to East and Southeast *** a whole,this MPS strategy i

Multimodal Biometric Fusion Algorithm Based on Ranking Partition Collision Theory

Score-based multimodal biometric fusion has been shown to be successful in addressing the problem of unimodal techniques’vulnerability to attack and poor performance in low-quality ***,difficulties still exist in how to unify the meaning of heterogeneous scores more *** from the matching scores themselves,the importance of the ranking information they include has been undervalued in previous *** study concentrates on matching scores and their ranking information and suggests the ranking partition collision(RPC)theory from the standpoint of the worth of *** meet both forensic and judicial needs,this paper proposes a method that employs a neural network to fuse biometrics at the score *** addition,this paper constructs a virtual homologous dataset and conducts experiments on *** results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an accuracy of 100%in both mAP and *** show the efficiency of the proposed method in practical applications,this work carries out more experiments utilizing real-world *** results show that the proposed approach maintains a Rank1 accuracy of 99.2%on the million-scale *** offers a novel approach to fusion at the score level.

Role of metabolic dysfunction and inflammation along the liver-brain axis in animal models with obesity-induced neurodegeneration
