The micro-capsules used for drug delivery are fabricated using polylactic acid（PLA）,which is a biomedical material approved by the FDA.A coarse-grained model of long-chain PLA was built,and molecular dynamics（MD）simulations of the model were performed using a MARTINI force *** on the nonlocal theory,the formula for the initial elastic modulus of polymers considering the nonlocal effect was derived,and the scaling law of internal characteristic length of polymers was proposed,which was used to adjust the cut-off radius in the MD simulations of *** results show that the elastic modulus should be computed using nonlinear *** nonlocal effect has a certain influence on the simulation results of *** to the scaling law,the cut-off radius was determined and applied to the MD simulations,the results of which reflect the influence of the molecular weight change on the elastic moduli of PLA,and are in agreement with the experimental outcome.

Urban floods are becoming increasingly more frequent,which has led to tremendous economic *** application of inundation modeling to predict and simulate urban flooding is an effective approach for disaster prevention and risk reduction,while also addressing the uncertainty problem in the model is always a challenging *** this study,a cellular automaton(CA)-based model combining a storm water management model(SWMM)and a weighted cellular automata 2D inundation model was applied and a physical-based model(LISFLOOD-FP)was also coupled with SWMM for *** simulation performance and the uncertainty factors of the coupled model were systematically *** results show that the CA-based model can achieve sufficient accuracy and higher computational efficiency than can a physical-based *** resolution of terrain and rainstorm data had a strong influence on the performance of the CA-based model,and the simulations would be less creditable when using the input data with a terrain resolution lower than 15 m and a recorded interval of rainfall greater than 30 *** roughness value and model type showed limited impacts on the change of inundation depth and occurrence of the peak inundation ***,the CA-based coupled model demonstrated laudable applicability and can be recommended for fast simulation of urban flood *** study also can provide references and implications for reducing uncertainty when constructing a CA-based coupled model.

A novel nanofluid of modified carbon black(MCB)nanoparticles was initially developed for enhanced oil recovery(EOR)in low permeability *** MCB nanoparticles were obtained via a three-step reaction involving modification by oxidation,acyl chlorination,and activated *** nano-particles were spherically dispersed,with an average size of 72.3 *** with carbon black(CB)nanoparticles,dispersed MCB nanoparticles can effectively reduce the oil-water interfacial tension(IFT)to 10^(-2)mN/m and change the surface wettability of sand *** on the results of core flooding experiments,the MCB nanoparticles exhibited a better EOR capacity than surfactants and CB nano-particles,and the final oil recovery was significantly increased by 27.27%.The core scanning test showed that the MCB nanoparticles could plug high permeability channels by adsorbing onto the surfaces of sand particles and forming larger aggregates that bridge across pores or throats,resulting in a higher swept *** synergistic effects of improved swept volume and oil displacement efficiency were the EOR mechanisms of the MCB *** studies indicate that these MCB nanoparticles have excellent potential for EOR in low permeability reservoirs.

It is not unusual to see the concept of resilience housed in binary terms:Your city is either‘resilient’or *** contrast,being‘safe’is widely recognized as a statement based on‘acceptable risk’where absolute safety is *** why do we treat resilience and,as an example,the idea of“Resilient Cities”as a distinct endpoint?In this paper,we argue that this mindset is not only incongruent with current understandings of safety and risk but could create a false sense of security for systems that otherwise have been judged‘resilient’.An alternative is that we can and should consider framing resilience in the same manner as we do to *** benefit of doing this is that we can learn from the safety literature and appreciate that,like for safety,there is no such thing as absolute ***,we should be striving to constantly identify and reduce the risks to our systems and society.

The increasing occurrence of pesticide micropollutants highlights the need for innovative water treatment technologies,particularly for small-community and household ***-oxidation is being widely studied in this area,unfortunately,safe,stable and efficient electrocatalytic anodes without released heavy metal ions are still highly *** this study,we fabricated a Pt/Ti anode by high energy pulse magnetron sputtering(HiPIMS-PtTi)which was used to decompose dichlorvos(DDVP)and azoxystrobin(AZX)in *** results show that the reaction rate constant(kENR)on HIPIMS was 35.7 min-1(DDVP)and 41.3 min-1(AZX),respectively,superior to electroplating Pt/Ti anode(EP-PtTi).The identification of radicals(^(·)OH,^(1)O_(2),^(·)O_(2)-)and micro-area analyses evidenced that Pt atoms were embedded into the TiO_(2) lattice on the surface of Ti plate by high-energy ions,which resulted in more adsorbed hydroxyls,and higher production of·OH under polarization ***,the electro-oxidation intermediates of DDVP and AZX were identified and the degradation pathways were speculated:(1)indirect oxidation dominated by·OH attack,and(2)direct electron transfer reaction of pesticides on the anode *** cooperated reactions achieve the complete degradation and highly efficient mineralization of DDVP and AZX.

Climate conditions have long been acknowledged as a pivotal factor shaping regional productivity and influencing available resources,consequently playing an important role in driving social changes throughout human history [1-3].In ancient East Asia,the Chinese agrarian civilization emerged around 4000 years ago in northern China,the region termed the"Central Plains".This region faced recurrent episodes of large-scale social unrest,profoundly impacting the societal structure and dynastic cycles [4].These episodes were marked by extended civil peasant uprisings and/or incursions from northern nomadic tribes,often spanning decades to centuries [5].Both the agrarian societies in the Central Plains and the husbandry-based nomadic tribes in the vast northern grasslands,characterized by semi-arid and semi-humid climates,were notably sensitive to climate variations [6].

With the acceleration of global climate change and urbanization,disaster chains are always connected to artificial systems like critical *** complexity and uncertainty of the disaster chain development process and the severity of the consequences have brought great challenges to emergency decision *** Bayesian network(BN)was applied in this study to reason about disaster chain scenarios to support the choice of appropriate response *** capture the interacting relationships among different factors,a scenario representation model of disaster chains was developed,followed by the determination of the BN *** deriving the conditional probability tables of the BN model,we found that,due to the lack of data and the significant uncertainty of disaster chains,parameter learning methodologies based on data or expert knowledge alone are *** integrating both sample data and expert knowledge with the maximum entropy principle,we proposed a parameter estimation algorithm under expert prior knowledge(PEUK).Taking the rainstorm disaster chain as an example,we demonstrated the superiority of the PEUK-built BN model over the traditional maximum a posterior(MAP)algorithm and the direct expert opinion elicitation *** results also demonstrate the potential of our BN scenario reasoning paradigm to assist real-world disaster decisions.

Sources, distribution, behavior, and detection techniques of microplastics in soil: A review

In recent years, the problem of environmental pollution caused by microplastics has attracted widespread attention. This paper reviews the latest research progress in terms of the source, content and distribution characteristics, harm, and detection technology of soil microplastics by referring to the relevant literature on soil microplastics worldwide. It concludes that:(1) Existing studies worldwide have detected the presence of microplastics in soil, water, and atmosphere, and the use of agricultural films, sewage sludge,and other man-made activities are the main sources of microplastics in soil;(2) microplastics can adsorb heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants and antibiotics in soil, change the physical and chemical properties of soil. This will result in composite pollution and harm to the ecosystem;(3) microplastics in soil not only can destroy the activity of key soil microorganisms, but also enter the body of crops and soil animals, affecting normal growth of crops and soil animals, and further threaten human health;(4) at present, there is no unified operating standard for the sampling, processing, and detection process of microplastics. Analysis methods such as visual inspection, spectroscopy, and thermal analysis have both advantages and disadvantages, and emerging detection technologies require urgent *** have become a new pollutant in soil and their distribution characteristics are closely related to human activities. They pollute the environment and threaten human health through the food *** related research on soil microplastics has just begun, it will become the focus of research in the future.
