Pien Tze Huang(PZH),a class-1 nationally protected traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),has been used to treat liver diseases such as hepatitis;however,the effect of PZH on the progression of sepsis is ***,we reported that PZH attenuated lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced sepsis in mice and reduced LPS-induced production of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages by inhibiting the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)***,PZH stimulated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)phosphorylation to induce the expression of A20,which could inhibit the activation of NF-κB and MAPK *** of the bile acid(BA)receptor G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1(TGR5)in macrophages abolished the effects of PZH on STAT3 phosphorylation and A20 induction,as well as the LPS-induced inflammatory response,suggesting that BAs in PZH may mediate its anti-inflammatory effects by activating ***,deprivation of BAs in PZH by cholestyramine resin reduced the effects of PZH on the expression of phosphorylated-STAT3 and A20,the activation of NF-κB and MAPK signalling,and the production of proinflammatory cytokines,whereas the addition of BAs to cholestyramine resin-treated PZH partially restored the inhibitory effects on the production of proinflammatory ***,our study identifies BAs as the effective components in PZH that activate TGR5-STAT3-A20 signalling to ameliorate LPS-induced sepsis.

Liquid crystals are a vital component of modern photonics,and recent studies have demonstrated the exceptional sensing properties of stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid ***,existing cholesteric liquid crystal-based sensors often rely on the naked eye perceptibility of structural color or the measurement of wavelength changes by spectrometric tools,which limits their practical ***,developing a platform that produces recognizable sensing signals is *** this study,we present a visual sensing platform based on geometric phase encoding of stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid crystal polymers that generates real-time visual patterns,rather than frequency *** demonstrate this platform’s effectiveness,we used a humidity-responsive cholesteric liquid crystal polymer film encoded with a q-plate pattern,which revealed that humidity causes a shape change in the vortex beam reflected from the encoded cholesteric liquid crystal ***,we developed a prototype platform towards remote humidity monitoring benefiting from the high directionality and long-range transmission properties of laser beams carrying orbital angular *** approach provides a novel sensing platform for cholesteric liquid crystals-based sensors that offers promising practical *** ability to generate recognizable sensing signals through visual patterns offers a new level of practicality in the sensing field with stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid *** platform might have significant implications for a broad readership and will be of interest to researchers working in the field of photonics and sensing technology.

A novel green long afterglow material CaGeO_(3):Tb^(3+)was synthesized by high temperature solid phase *** to the experimental results,CaGeO_(3):Tb^(3+)is a green long persistent luminescent(LPL)material with excellent ***_(3):Tb^(3+)shows LPL emission peak at 442,490.9,548.7,588.5 and 623.8 nm,corresponding to ^(5)D_(3) to^(7)F_(4)and^(5)D_(4)to^(7)F_(J)(J=6,5,4,3)transitions of Tb^(3+).Its CIE coordinates are(0.27,0.50),indicating that the afterglow emission is close to the light of green *** addition,after the excitation source is turned off,the afterglow time is longer than 90 *** an interval of 7 h,the photo-stimulation luminescence(PSL)can be observed by using 980 nm laser cyclic *** thermoluminescence(ThL)results show that there are three types of traps in the material and their depths are 0.666,0.774 and 0.892 eV respectively,which are caused by the doping of Tb^(3+).All the results show that CaGeO_(3):Tb^(3+)is an excellent long afterglow luminescent material.

The kinetic of low-temperature carrier and lattice of lead-halide perovskite is yet to be fully *** this work,we investigate the steady-state photoluminescences(PLs)of CsPbI_(3)at the environmental temperature(Te)ranging from 20 K to 300 K,and observed anomalous behaviors at cryogenic temperatures:The carrier temperature(Tc)of pure CsPbI_(3)exhibits a negative correlation with Te,accompanied by an expansion in Urbach tails of absorption spectra(Abs.)and excessive red-shifts at peak energy of *** phenomena are also observed in those samples containing a certain amount of Cs_(4)PbI_(6),but to a lesser extent and occurs at lower *** is attributed to the intensified hot phonon bottleneck effect(HPB)in CsPbI_(3)at cryogenic Te,which hinders the energy transfer from hot carriers,via longitudinal optics(LO)phonons to longitudinal acoustic(LA)phonons,to the *** samples under continuous-wave laser excitation,in specific,the barrier induced by the enhanced HPB at low Teprevents the effective thermalization among carriers,LO and LA phonons,which,therefore,form thermally isolated ensembles with different *** cryogenic Terange,the elevated temperatures of carrier and LO phonon expand the high-energy side of PLs and the low-energy tail of Abs.,*** those samples in which the CsPbI_(3)is mixed with Cs_(4)PbI_(6),the interfacial LO-LO interaction across them provides a bypass for heat dissipation,mitigating the heat accumulation in LO-phonons of CsPbI_(3).The results suggest that a strong HPB effect may break the thermal equilibrium among different branches of phonons in the lattice under certain extreme conditions.

Oceanic submesoscales can significantly influence phytoplankton production and export owing to their similar timescales of *** on two-year Biogeochemical Argo(BGC-Argo) observations,this study investigated the development of submesoscale instabilities,particularly symmetric and mixed-layer baroclinic instabilities,and their impacts on biological production and export in the oligotrophic South china Sea *** the northern basin,near-surface winter blooms consistently cooccurred with seasonally deepened mixed ***,significantly stronger and weaker winter blooms were observed over two consecutive winters within the BGC-Argo observation *** the first winter,symmetric-instability-induced upward nutrient entrainment played a crucial role in initiating the strong winter bloom in early December,when the mixed layer was approximately 20–30 m shallower than the *** bloom occurred approximately 20–30 days earlier than that anticipated owing to the contact between the seasonally deepened mixed layer and mesoscale-cyclone-induced uplifted *** symmetric instability also facilitated the export of fixed phytoplankton carbon from the surface to deeper ***,during the second winter,remarkably intense mixed-layer baroclinic instability associated with an intense mesoscale anticyclone led to more significant shoaling of the mixed layer compared to the nutricline,thus increasing the vertical distance between the two *** this condition,upward nutrient injection,phytoplankton bloom,and carbon export were *** contrast,the BGC-Argo float in the central basin revealed significantly inhibited seasonality of phytoplankton biomass and submesoscale instabilities compared to those in the northern basin,primarily owing to the significantly shallower winter mixed layer.

Tributyltin(TBT),a common organotin environmental pollutant,may pose a threat to human development during critical early-life *** aimed to assess the neurodevelopmental intergenerational toxicity of early-life exposure to TBT and the protective effect of DNA methyl donor folic acid(FA).Specifically,after early-life exposure(1–21 days postfertilization,dpf)to TBT(0,1,10 and 100 ng/L),zebrafish(Danio rerio)were cultured in clean medium until sexual *** exposed females were mated with unexposed males to produce embryos(F1).The F1 generation were cultured(4–120 hours post-fertilization,hpf)with and without 1 mmol/L *** neurotoxic effects of early-life TBT exposure for zebrafish and their offspring(F1)were significantly enhanced anxiety and reduced aggression,decreased gene expression of DNA methyltransferase in the brain and increased serotonin levels in the ***,the intergenerational neurodevelopmental toxicity,as manifested in the F1 generation,was attenuated by FA *** summary,early-life TBT exposure led to intergenerational neurodevelopmental deficits in zebrafish,and DNA methyl donors had a protective effect on F1 neurodevelopment,which can inform the prevention and treatment of intergenerational neurotoxicity due to organotin pollutants.
