High-performance sodium storage for cobalt phosphide composite array electrodes

Transition metal phosphides hold great potential as sodium-ion batteries anode materials owing to their high theoretical capacity and modest ***,volume changes and low intrinsic conductivity seriously largely hinder the further development of metal phosphide *** design of phosphide anode materials with reasonable structure is conducive to solving the problems of volume expansion and slow reaction kinetics during the *** this work,a composite material integrating zeolite imidazolate backbone(ZIF) and carbon materials was synthesized by the original growth ***,by the oxidation-phosphating process,CoP nanoarray composites riveted to carbon fiber(CoP@CF) were *** the CoP@CF,CoP nanoparticles are uniformly distributed on ZIF-derived carbon,reducing agglomeration and volume change during *** also provides a highly conductive network for the active material,improving the electrode ***,when evaluated as an anode for sodium-ion batteries,CoP@CF electrode displays enhanced reversible capacity(262 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1)after 100 cycles),which is much better than that of pure CF electrode(57 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1) after 100 cycles)prepared without the addition of *** rate performance of CoP@CF electrode is also superior to that of pure CF electrode at various current densities from 0.05 to1 A·g^(-1).The sodium storage behavior of CoP@CF was revealed by ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,and synchrotron radiation absorption *** method provides a reference for the design and synthesis of anode materials in sodium-ion batteries.

Introducing urea into tirapazamine derivatives to enhance anticancer therapy

Tirapazamine（TPZ） has been approved for multiple clinical trials relying on its excellent anticancer ***,as a typical hypoxia-activated prodrug（HAP）,TPZ did not exhibit survival advantages in Phase Ⅲ clinical trials when used in combination therapy due to the insufficient hypoxia levels in patients' *** this study,to improve the therapeutic effects of TPZ,we first introduced urea to synthesize a series of urea-containing derivatives of *** urea-containing TPZ derivatives showed increased hypoxic cytotoxicity（9.51-30.85-fold） compared with TPZ,while maintaining hypoxic ***,one of these derivatives,showed 20-fold higher cytotoxicity than TPZ while maintaining a similar hypoxic cytotoxicity *** highly efficiently deliver TPZP to the tumors and reduce its side effects on healthy tissues,we further prepared TPZP into a nanodrug with fibrin-targeting ability:***4-NPs,a vascular disrupting agent,was used to increase the fibrin level within tumors and exacerbate tumor *** being combined with CA4-NPs,FT11-TPZP-NPs can accumulate in the hypoxia-aggravated tumors and activate sufficiently to kill tumor *** a single-dose treatment,FT11-TPZP-NPs+CA4-NPs showed a high inhibition rate of 98.1% against CT26 tumor models with an initial volume of ～480 mm3and four out of six tumors were completely eliminated;it thereby exerted a significant antitumor *** study provides a new strategy for improving the therapeutic effect of TPZ and other HAPs in anticancer therapy.

Synergistic extraction and separation of thorium from rare earths in chloride media using mixture of Cextrant 230 and Cyanex 923

In order to lower the usage of expensive Cyanex 923 and increase the extraction capacity of the system of Cextrant 230,the synergistic extraction of thorium from chloride media by a mixture of Cextrant 230 and Cyanex 923 was *** maximum synergistic enhancement coefficient(R)of 1.53 is obtained at 1:1 molar ratio of Cextrant 230/Cyanex *** syne rgistic extracted species of Th^(4+)is determined as ThCl_(4)·2Cextrant 230·Cyanex *** synergistic extraction of Th^(4+)is an entropy-driven exothermic *** loading capacity of 0.60 mol/L mixed extractant for thorium is about 17.10 g/L(calculated as ThO_(2)),and the loaded thorium in the organic phase can be effectively stripped by distilled *** comparison,rare earth cations are barely extracted under the similar conditions,suggesting that the mixtures can be applied to separate thorium from rare earths.A cascade extraction process was developed based on the synergistic extraction system to separate thorium from the hydrochloric acid leaching of *** content of thorium in the leaching solution decreases obviously from 19.90 mg/L to1.4μg/L by 3 stages of extraction,which is superior to sole Cextrant 230 or Cyanex *** introduction of Cextrant 230 into the extraction system not only lowers the usage of Cyanex 923 but also enhances the selective extraction of thorium at low acidity,implying that the synergistic extraction system can selectively extract thorium more efficiently and economically than the sole systems.

Extracts of plant origin,particularly tannins,are attracting growing interest for the sustainable development of materials in the industrial *** discovery of new tannins is therefore *** aim of this work was to contribute to the understanding of the properties of Paraberlinia bifoliolata tannin by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectroscopy MALDI-TOF/MS and Carbon 13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(13C NMR).The chemical composition of tannin extracted from Paraberlinia bifoliolata bark was determined,as was the mechanical strength of the resin hardened with Acacia nilotica *** by successive water extraction was 35%.MALDI-TOF/MS analysis revealed the presence of three new compounds in this tannin,previously unknown in this family of *** are 3-hydroxyproline acid,N-methyl-4-hydroxypipecolic acid and N-methyl-5-dihydroxypipecolic *** identification of the above molecules means that this tannin can be used for industrial applications,as a resin in the manufacture of particleboard and in the formulation of green corrosion *** information is reinforced by 13C NMR spectrometry,which indicates the presence of several polyflavonoid units,confirming the condensed nature of the *** analysis of the resin formed by the purified tannin of Paraberlinia bifoliolata to which a vegetal biohardener has been added provided a Modulus of Elasticity(MOE)value of 4840 MPa at 150℃,confirming its possible use as a binder resin in the manufacture of wood panels as well as for the formulation of a corrosion inhibitor.

Oscillatory Dynamics of Heterogeneous Stem Cell Regeneration

Stem cell regeneration is an essential biological process in the maintenance of tissue homeostasis;dysregulation of stem cell regeneration may result in dynamic diseases that show oscillations in cell *** heterogeneity and plasticity are necessary for the dynamic equilibrium of tissue homeostasis;however,how these features may affect the oscillatory dynamics of the stem cell regeneration process remains poorly ***,based on a mathematical model of heterogeneous stem cell regeneration that includes cell heterogeneity and random transition of epigenetic states,we study the conditions to have oscillation solutions through bifurcation analysis and numerical *** results show various model system dynamics with changes in different parameters associated with kinetic rates,cellular heterogeneity,and *** show that introducing heterogeneity and plasticity to cells can result in oscillation dynamics,as we have seen in the homogeneous stem cell regeneration ***,increasing the cell heterogeneity and plasticity intends to maintain tissue homeostasis under certain *** current study is an initiatory investigation of how cell heterogeneity and plasticity may affect stem cell regeneration dynamics,and many questions remain to be further studied both biologically and mathematically.

Modularized viromimetic polymer nanoparticle vaccines(VPNVaxs) to elicit durable and effective humoral immune responses

Virus-like particle(VLP) vaccines had shown great potential during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was thought to be the next generation of antiviral vaccine technology due to viromimetic structures. However,the time-consuming and complicated processes in establishing a current recombinant-protein–based VLP vaccine has limited its quick launch to the out-bursting pandemic. To simplify and optimize VLP vaccine design, we herein report a kind of viromimetic polymer nanoparticle vaccine(VPNVax), with subunit receptor-binding domain(RBD) proteins conjugated to the surface of polyethylene glycol-b-polylactic acid(PEG-b-PLA) nanoparticles for vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. The preparation of VPNVax based on synthetic polymer particle and chemical post-conjugation makes it possible to rapidly replace the antigens and construct matched vaccines at the emergence of different viruses. Using this modular preparation system, we identified that VPNVax with surface protein coverage of 20%–25% had the best immunostimulatory activity, which could keep high levels of specific antibody titers over 5 months and induce virus neutralizing activity when combined with an aluminum adjuvant. Moreover, the polymer nano-vectors could be armed with more immune-adjuvant functions by loading immunostimulant agents or chemical chirality design. This VPNVax platform provides a novel kind of rapidly producing and efficient vaccine against different variants of SARS-CoV-2 as well as other viral pandemics.

Stereoselective recognition of morphine enantiomers by μ-opioid receptor

Stereospecific recognition of chiral molecules plays a crucial role in biological systems. The μ-opioid receptor（MOR） exhibits binding affinity towards（-）-morphine, a well-established gold standard in pain management, while it shows minimal binding affinity for the（+）-morphine enantiomer, resulting in a lack of analgesic activity. Understanding how MOR stereoselectively recognizes morphine enantiomers has remained a puzzle in neuroscience and pharmacology for over half-a-century due to the lack of direct observation techniques. To unravel this mystery, we constructed the binding and unbinding processes of morphine enantiomers with MOR via molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the thermodynamics and kinetics governing MOR's stereoselective recognition of morphine enantiomers. Our findings reveal that the binding of（-）-morphine stabilizes MOR in its activated state, exhibiting a deep energy well and a prolonged residence time. In contrast,（+）-morphine fails to sustain the activation state of ***, the results suggest that specific residues, namely D1142.50and D1473.32, are deprotonated in the active state of MOR bound to（-）-morphine. This work highlights that the selectivity in molecular recognition goes beyond binding affinities, extending into the realm of residence time.

Fabrication of porous adsorbents from eco-friendly aqueous foam for high-efficient removal of cationic dyes and sustainable utilization assessment

Porous materials applied in environmental remediation have received researchers'extensive attention recently,but the related green and convenient preparation method is rarely ***,we recommended a green and convenient strategy for the fabrication of porous material via aqueous foam templates,which was synergistically stabilized by Codonopsis pilosula(CP)and clay minerals of attapulgite(APT).The characterization results revealed that the APT was modified by organic molecules leached from CP and anchored at the air-water interface,which improved the foam stability *** novel porous material of polyacrylamide/Codonopsis pilosula/attapulgite(PAM/CP/APT)templated from the aqueous foam via a polymerization reaction had excellent adsorption capacity for the cationic dyes methyl violet(MV)and methylene blue(MB),and the adsorption capacity can reach 755.85 mg/g and557.64 mg/g,*** importantly,the adsorption capacity of spent adsorbent material was still over 200 mg/g after being recycled five times through a simple carbonization process,and then it was added to the plant pot,the total biomass was increased by about86.42%.This study provided a green and sustainable pathway for the preparation,application and subsequent processing of porous materials.

Predicted Critical State Based on Invariance of the Lyapunov Exponent in Dual Spaces

Critical states in disordered systems,fascinating and subtle eigenstates,have attracted a lot of research ***,the nature of critical states is difficult to describe quantitatively,and in general,it cannot predict a system that hosts the critical *** propose an explicit criterion whereby the Lyapunov exponent of the critical state should be 0 simultaneously in dual spaces,namely the Lyapunov exponent remains invariant under the Fourier *** this criterion,we can exactly predict a one-dimensional quasiperiodic model which is not of self-duality,but hosts a large number of critical ***,we perform numerical verification of the theoretical prediction and display the self-similarity of the critical *** to computational complexity,calculations are not performed for higher dimensional ***,since the description of extended and localized states by the Lyapunov exponent is universal and dimensionless,utilizing the Lyapunov exponent of dual spaces to describe critical states should also be ***,we conjecture that some kind of connection exists between the invariance of the Lyapunov exponent and conformal invariance,which can promote the research of critical phenomena.
