Exosome-encapsulated lncRNA HOTAIRM1 contributes to PM-aggravated COPD airway remodeling by enhancing myofibroblast differentiation

Emphysema, myofibroblast accumulation and airway remodeling can occur in the lungs due to exposure to atmospheric pollution, especially fine particulate matter (PM2.5), leading to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Specifically, bronchial epithelium-fibroblast communication participates in airway remodeling, which results in COPD. An increasing number of studies are now being conducted on the role of exosome-mediated cell-cell communication in disease pathogenesis. Here, we investigated whether exosomes generated from bronchial epithelial cells could deliver information to normal stromal fibroblasts and provoke cellular responses, resulting in airway obstruction in COPD. We studied the mechanism of exosome-mediated intercellular communication between human bronchial epithelial(HBE) cells and primary lung fibroblasts (pLFs). We found that PM2.5-induced HBE-derived exosomes promoted myofibroblast differentiation in p LFs. Then, the exosomal lncRNA expression profiles derived from PM2.5-treated HBE cells and nontreated HBE cells were investigated using an Agilent Human LncRNA Array. Combining coculture assays and direct exosome treatment, we found that HBE cell-derived exosomal HOTAIRM1 facilitated the myofibroblast differentiation of pLFs. Surprisingly, we discovered that exosomal HOTAIRM1 enhanced p LF proliferation to secrete excessive collagen secretion, leading to airway obstruction by stimulating the TGF-β/SMAD3 signaling ***, PM2.5reduced FEV1/FVC and FEV1 and increased the level of serum exosomal HOTAIRM1 in healthy people; moreover, serum exosomal HOTAIRM1 was associated with PM2.5-related reductions in FEV1/FVC and FVC. These findings show that PM2.5triggers alterations in exosome components and clarify that one of the paracrine mediators of myofibroblast differentiation is bronchial epithelial cellderived HOTAIRM1, which has the potential to be an effective prevention and therapeutic target for PM2.5-induced COPD.

Spanning tree problems with specialized constraints can be difficult to solve in real-world scenarios,often requiring intricate algorithmic design and exponential ***,there has been growing interest in end-to-end deep neural networks for solving routing ***,such methods typically produce sequences of vertices,which make it difficult to apply them to general combinatorial optimization problems where the solution set consists of edges,as in various spanning tree *** this paper,we propose NeuroPrim,a novel framework for solving various spanning tree problems by defining a Markov decision process for general combinatorial optimization problems on *** approach reduces the action and state space using Prim's algorithm and trains the resulting model using *** apply our framework to three difficult problems on the Euclidean space:the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem,the minimum routing cost spanning tree problem and the Steiner tree problem in *** results on literature instances demonstrate that our model outperforms strong heuristics and achieves small optimality gaps of up to 250 ***,we find that our model has strong generalization ability with no significant degradation observed on problem instances as large as 1,*** results suggest that our framework can be effective for solving a wide range of combinatorial optimization problems beyond spanning tree problems.

Complications after pediatric percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy: comparison of the push and pull technique

Purpose Various complications are associatedwith percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy(PEG)procedures in *** push technique is being increasingly used,but its complications are insufficiently *** aimed to assess all complications related to PEG procedures and compare the safety of the pull and push *** Retrospective review of consecutive pediatric patients who underwent PEG between 2002 and *** In total,216 children underwent 217 PEG *** push technique was used in 138(64%)cases,and the pull technique in 79(36%)*** median follow-up time was 6.1(0.1-18.3)*** complication rate was high(57%)and patients experienced complications years after the ***,51%and 67%of patients experienced complications in the push and pull groups,*** rates of minor and major complications were higher in the pull group than in the push group(63%vs 48%,p=0.028;and 11%vs 6%,p=0.140,respectively).Reoperation was also more common in the pull group(17%vs 7%,p=0.020).Conclusions The overall complication rate of PEG procedures is ***,most complications are mild and do not require *** increasing push technique appears to be safer than the traditional pull *** long-term morbidity is related to gastrostomies in children.

Objective:The importance of good sleep for energy recovery and overall physical and mental health cannot be ***,the increasing competitiveness of society,diversifying lifestyles,and the rapid spread of the internet and electronic devices have significantly impacted people’s sleep patterns,particularly through bedtime ***,this study aims to investigate the relationship and underlying mechanisms between sleep determination,anxiety,and bedtime procrastination among the Chinese ***:The study utilized data from a national survey—the China Residents’Sleep Condition Survey(November 2021,with 6,037 participants).By constructing mediation and moderation models,it analyzed the relationship and mechanisms between sleep determination and bedtime procrastination,highlighting the dual role of anxiety:as a mediator between sleep determination and bedtime procrastination,and as a moderator of their ***:There was a negative correlation between sleep determination and bedtime procrastination;anxiety was related to an increase in bedtime procrastination behaviors;In the interplay between sleep determination and pre-bedtime procrastination,the regulatory effect of anxiety is found to be more pronounced than its intermediary role,with anxiety significantly diminishing the inverse relationship between sleep determination and procrastination before ***:Bedtime procrastination can lead to sleep issues,thus reducing sleep *** sleep determination or alleviating pre-sleep anxiety can help inhibit bedtime procrastination *** and reducing bedtime procrastination is one of the effective measures to improve sleep quality.

Introduction:This study investigated the lagged correlation between Baidu Index for influenza-related keywords and influenza-like illness percentage(ILI%)across regions in *** aim is to establish a scientific foundation for utilizing Baidu Index as an early warning tool for influenza-like illness ***:In this study,data on ILI%and Baidu Index were collected from 30 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)spanning April 2014 to March *** Baidu Index was categorized into Overall Index,Ordinary Index,Prevention Index,Symptom Index,and Treatment Index based on search query *** lagged correlation between the Baidu Index and ILI%was examined through the cross-correlation function(CCF)***:Correlating the Baidu Overall Index of 30 PLADs with ILI%revealed CCF values ranging from 0.46 to 0.86,with a median lag of 0.5 *** analysis indicated that the Prevention Index and Symptom Index exhibited quicker responses to ILI%,with median lags of−9 and−0.5 days,respectively,compared to 0 and 3 days for the Ordinary and Treatment *** median lag days between the Baidu Index and the ILI%were earlier in the northern PLADs compared to the southern ***:The Prevention and Symptom Indexes show promising predictive capabilities for influenzalike illness epidemics.

Solute carriers(SLCs) constitute the largest superfamily of membrane transporter *** transporters, present in various SLC families, play a vital role in energy metabolism by facilitating the transport of diverse substances, including glucose, fatty acids, amino acids, nucleotides, and *** actively participate in the regulation of glucose metabolism at various steps, such as glucose uptake(e.g., SLC2A4/GLUT4), glucose reabsorption(e.g., SLC5A2/SGLT2), thermogenesis(e.g., SLC25A7/UCP-1), and ATP production(e.g., SLC25A4/ANT1 and SLC25A5/ANT2). The activities of these transporters contribute to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Notably, SLC5A2 has emerged as a valid drug target for T2DM due to its role in renal glucose reabsorption, leading to groundbreaking advancements in diabetes drug discovery. Alongside SLC5A2, multiple families of SLC transporters involved in the regulation of glucose homeostasis hold potential applications for T2DM therapy. SLCs also impact drug metabolism of diabetic medicines through gene polymorphisms, such as rosiglitazone(SLCO1B1/OATP1B1) and metformin(SLC22A1-3/OCT1-3 and SLC47A1, 2/MATE1, 2). By consolidating insights into the biological activities and clinical relevance of SLC transporters in T2DM, this review offers a comprehensive update on their roles in controlling glucose metabolism as potential drug targets.

Textile dyes are dramatic sources of pollution and non-aesthetic disturbance of aquatic life and therefore represent a potential risk of bioaccumulation that can affect living *** is imperative to reduce or eliminate these dyes from liquid effluents with innovative biomaterials and ***,this research aims to highlight the performance of Capparis spinosa L waste-activated carbon(CSLW-AC)adsorbent to remove crystal violet(CV)from an aqueous *** mechanism of CV adsorption on CSLW-AC was evaluated based on the coupling of experimental data and different characterization *** efficiency of the CSLW-AC material reflected by the equilibrium adsorption capacity of CV could reach more than 195.671 mg·g^(–1) when 0.5 g·L^(–1) of CSLW-AC(Particle size≤250μm)is introduced into the CV of initial concentration of 100 mg·L^(–1) at pH 6 and temperature 65℃ and in the presence of potassium ions after 60 min of contact time according to the one parameter at a time *** adsorption behavior of CV on CSLW-AC was found to be consistent with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Frumkin's linear isothermal *** thermodynamic aspects indicate that the process is physical,spontaneous,and *** optimization of the process by the Box Behnken design of experiments resulted in an adsorption capacity approaching 183.544 mg·g^(–1)([CV]=100 mg·L^(–1) and[CSLW-AC]=0.5 g·L^(–1) at 35 min).The results of the Lactuca sativa seeds germination in treated CV(70%),adsorbent solvent and thermal regeneration(more than 5 cycles),and process cost analysis(1.0484 USD·L^(–1))tests are encouraging and promising for future exploitations of the CSLW-AC material in different industrial fields.

The interplay between financial technology(FinTech)and real economy firms has garnered considerable *** paper explores the relationship and mechanism between FinTech and corporate zombification using the data of Chinese A-share listed firms in China from 2011 to *** research findings reveal that FinTech significantly inhibits firm zombification,and FinTech breadth and depth both play a significant role in restraining firm *** exploration indicates that,on the one hand,FinTech reduces friction in the financial market,inhibiting firm zombification by improving firm investment efficiency,especially alleviating *** the other side,FinTech indirectly affects the technological investment,production,and operation of firms,thereby inhibiting firm zombification by increasing their total factor *** analysis suggests that the inhibitory effect of FinTech on corporate zombification is more pronounced for non-stateowned firms and small-sized firms,as well as those in manufacturing industries and highly competitive *** paper provides some novel evidence on evaluating the effect of FinTech on firms and also offers new insights for efficient governance of zombie firms.

Objective:To assess the effect of leaf extract of Persicaria lanigera on cotton pellet-induced granuloma tissue formation and acetic acid-induced ulcerative ***:Rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal control,negative control,positive control(dexamethasone or sulfasalazine)as well as Persicaria lanigera(100-600 mg/kg)-treated *** effects of the extracts on body weight,antioxidant,and hematological parameters,as well as mast cell proliferation,were *** addition,a histological evaluation was ***:Persicaria lanigera extract significantly decreased the mean exudate amount and suppressed granuloma tissue formation in a concentration-dependent manner in rats(P<0.05).Additionally,the extract significantly increased body weight,improved hematological profile,reduced the disease activity index score and malondialdehyde level,as well as enhanced catalase and superoxide dismutase activities(P<0.05).Histological evaluation showed Persicaria lanigera extract alleviated acetic acid-induced colonic damages,as evidenced by decreased cell necrosis,edema,and inflammatory cell ***:Persicaria lanigera extract possesses antiproliferative,antioxidative,and anti-colitis ***,its underlying mechanisms of action need further investigation.
