This paper aims to establish a dialogue between contemporary research on the problem of other minds and classical Chinese philosophical *** first explores the idea,inspired by the recent discovery of the mirror neuron mechanism,that a direct exchange of experience may occur between the observer and the ***,it analyzes the ways in which the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi and Confucian thinkers reflected on the problem of other minds,which are quite similar to the idea inspired by the latest research on mirror *** these thinkers’views,knowledge of other minds is the result of mental activity and what it provides is,to a large extent,something related not to epistemology but rather to a situational understanding of other minds from the perspective of value *** author points out that this solution takes two aspects,humans9 innate nature and human experience,into consideration *** terms of humans,innate nature,the body of a human being is a body that represents the unity of man and nature,and it has something in common with the natural world,which lays a foundation for the perception of other *** terms of human experience,human beings have such actual needs as emotions,pursuits,and desires,and their behaviors need to conform to certain *** is in a body of this kind that the mind of human beings can be formed and enjoy the potential to *** interpersonal communication can thus be achieved.

Frege argued that a predicate was a functional expression and the reference of it a concept, which as a predicative function had one or more empty places and was thus incomplete. Frege＇s view gives rise to what has been known as the paradox of the concept ＂horse.＂ In order to resolve this paradox, I argue for an opposite view which retains the point that a predicate is a function, i.e. that a predicative function is complete in a sense. Specifically speaking, a predicate performing the function of a predicate has at least one empty place and has no reference, while a predicate performing the function of a subject does not have any empty place but does have a reference. Frege not only regarded a concept with one or more empty places as the reference of a predicate but also took a set of objects without any empty place to be the extension of a concept with one or more empty places. Thus, it presents a complex relationship between the reference of a predicate and its corresponding extension, leading to disharmony in his theory. I argue that this is because there is a major defect in Frege＇s theory of meaning, namely the neglect of common names. What he called extensions of concepts are actually extensions of common names, and the references of predicates and the extensions of common names have a substantial difference despite being closely related.

The situationist challenge to virtue has convinced many philosophers to adopt an empirically grounded methodology.I argue that this methodology requires us to reconsider conceptualizations of and evidence on character from experiments involving Asian subjects because it is precisely in these experiments that we see a remedy for the problems exposed by *** both situationists and defenders of virtue fall short of abiding by the part of their methodological commitment associated with remediation,evidence from the experiments is relevant for most participants in the debate.I show that the evidence indicates something important about remediation:the point is not to avoid the concept of virtue or character,but to deploy a holistic thinking style that has been observed among some populations in *** thinking involves(a)a tendency to explain behavior in terms of the interaction between person and situation variables and(b)an incremental understanding of *** paper ends with a brief sketch of an account of character from holistic thinking that also highlights the role of social support in managing situations.

For Aristotle creating a virtuous character means habituating a stable emotional state or disposition （hex＆）, which enables the agent to feel and act rightly, and to have the intellectual virtue prudence （phron^sis） complete this habituation. But because feeling or emotion （pathos） is a passive state, it is not clear in what way we can make ourselves be affected correctly. This paper tries to solve this apparent difficulty by emphasizing the cognitive power of emotion. It also examines the role of prudence in the acquisition of ethical virtue, supporting an anti-intellectualist understanding of practical motivation.

The article aims to discuss the theme of Adorno's non-identical moral philosophy,particularly the primacy of individual life over moral laws,as based mainly on his key works like Minima Moralia:Reflections from Damaged Life,On Subject and Object,Problems of Moral philosophy,and Negative *** claim here is that the primacy of individual life is made through negative dialectics(“non-idealist dialectics”)dealing with the antithesis between object and subject,particular and universal,individual and society under the theoretical horizon of hon-identical ***,as a private ethics,this non-identical moral philosophy based on individual life stands as a kind of negativism,which is focused on negative guidance towards the possibility of right life.

Chinese philosophy of value arose from reflection on the Cultural Revolution and an inherent need amidst the implementation of reform and opening up, and it was directly triggered by extensive discussions about the standard of truth. The development of the philosophy of value over the past forty years shifted from value to evaluation before moving on to the research topics of values, in particular core socialist values. Currently, its major characteristics are the unity of theoretical logic and practical logic, the mutual interaction between and enhancement of the study of the philosophy of value and research on Marxist philosophy, and exchanges and dialogues with foreign philosophies of value. Its main achievements in the philosophy of value include the implementation of a subjective paradigm based on the theory of practice and the theoretical construction and clarification of core socialist values. Future directions for the development of the philosophy of value include improving subjective interpretation on the basis of the theory of practice, deeply exploring value concepts and value principles in the new form of civilization, and bringing the philosophy of value into interaction with multidisciplinary research.

Upon reading the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus,readers might be confused about the nature of the book,since there seems to be a paradox introduced by the author’s two claims:a)the book conveys truths;b)propositions in the book are *** disagree as to how best to resolve this *** hold that there are ineffable truths conveyed by nonsense *** deny this kind of truth,arguing that the book is not all nonsense,for there are some propositions in the book expressing at least the therapeutic truth that philosophical propositions are just ***,some interpreters have claimed that there is no truth at *** the incoherence of the context is genuine,the purpose of the book is *** diagnosing these interpretations,this paper intends to provide a new perspective toward reading the book by resolving the *** truth of the Tractatus is not a propositional truth,but a specific true *** nonsense of the Tractatus is a transcending nonsense,rather than a pure *** book intends to attain the true thought about the mystical ethics by way of transcending *** this case,the Tractatus is not an incoherent work at all,since the paradox is not *** fact that the nonsense part is a means to fulfill its ethical purpose makes the book a unified whole.

Fung Yu-lan has suggested that Chinese philosophers have been unreceptive to modern science. This suggestion, however, has not been substantiated. This essay is an attempt to provide a justification of Fung＇s assertion through an existential analysis of the Chinese concepts of nature. The essay will examine Chinese existential concerns prevailing in Daoism and Confucianism, and these systems＇ distaste for the type of scientific study which has become prevalent in the modern world. I also intend to defend the claim that the ultimate concern of the Zhuangzi and the Zhongyong is completely contrary to the one that sustains modern science. A brief comparative discussion between Xu Guangqi and Galileo Galilei will be used to support this claim. My discussion will raise the contention that, to have a better understanding of the development of modern science in China, we have to understand the attitude toward religion that has underpinned modern science.

Traditional Chinese culture contains the thought of respecting nature and protecting the ecological environment, thus it is of theoretical and practical significance for the construction of ecological civilization in China. This paper uses textual analysis on the works from Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism to explain the cultural genes related to the harmonious development of man and nature, in addition to examining possibilities for adapting the cultural genes in the practice of ecological civilization construction. It concludes that by means of policy guidance and active adaptation, traditional Chinese culture can effectively realize its potential for ecological protection and be integrated into China’s ecological civilization construction.
