Parametric study on the ballistic performance of seamed woven fabrics

The ballistic perforation response of composite fabrics made by combining plain weaves with seaming technology is reported and compared with conventional unseamed plain *** effect of the seaming technique on the ballistic resistance of aramid plain fabrics is investigated by varying the seaming *** ballistic experiment uses 8 mm diameter spherical projectiles to impact different fabric sample targets with velocities of 230 m/s and 400 m/*** ballistic performance of seamed and unseamed fabrics is characterized by the specific energy absorption(SEA)values of the *** results show that the seamed fabric has a better energy absorption capacity than the unseamed fabric,e.g.,the SEA of sample 5(seaming lines on every four yarns in a single-ply fabric system)is 135%of sample 1(plain weave without thread seaming).In the single-layer system,the effect of the seaming technique on the energy absorption of the fabric in significant when considering seaming density,seaming orientation,seaming distance,and seaming material on the plain fabric;In addition,it is found that in multi-layer systems,seamed panels(e.g.,sample 7)exhibit better ballistic performance than multi-layer fabrics(e.g.,sample 2),and the specific energy absorption of sample 7 is approximately 156%and 200%of sample 6 and sample 2,***,the energy absorption of the fabric decreases with the increase of impact velocity,which is related to the energy absorption mechanism of the soft fabric system at high impact *** yarn pull-out tests shows that the constraint provided by the seaming thread increases the friction between the fabric-forming ***,when the constraint exceeds a certain level,it is detrimental to the energy absorption of the fabric,which may be due to the overconstraint of yarn mobility.

Maintaining human thermal comfort in cold indoor environments is crucial but usually involves excessive energy consumption and massive greenhouse gas emissions. Thermoregulating the human body by using advanced clothing is emerging as a promising solution to effectively and energy-efficiently achieve personal thermal management. An air inflatable suit(AirST)using a series of air chambers as the thermal insert was developed for the purpose of adjusting clothing thermal insulation and hence improving personal thermal comfort. The thermal insulation regulating performance of AirST was investigated through thermal manikin tests and wear trials. Compared with the AirST without air inflation, AirST after inflation with air had a desired effect, which could not only increase local clothing thermal insulation by a range from 4.5% to 24.8% but also alleviate cold strain and provide significantly higher local skin temperatures, mean skin temperature and mean body temperature. After inflation, AirST successfully improved the whole-, upper-and lower-body thermal sensations in a cool environment. The acceptable heating setpoint temperature by the air conditioner could be decreased while using AirST with inflation, which saved approximately 30% of building energy consumption. As the AirST without air inflation can also be worn as regular windproof clothing, this versatility saved approximately 12 kg CO_(2)e emissions in the production process.

This paper relates to highly dispersed supported Pd/MWCNTs and Fd/a-Al2O3 catalysts prepared by biological reduction method. The physico-chemical properties and the difference in catalytic activity of Pd catalysts prepared by bio- logical reduction method and chemical method, respectively, were investigated using XRD, TEM and specific surface char- acterization methods. The catalytic properties of catalysts were studied through activity evaluation means. The test results showed that the catalysts prepared by biological method were characteristic of small Pd nanoparticle size, good dispersion and low agglomeration, while possessing a high activity and stability in styrene hydrogenation reaction in comparison with catalysts prelgared via the chemical method.

Efficacy of moxibustion by stimulating acupoints of Danzhong(CV 17) and Ganshu(BL 18) on hyperplasia of mammary gland in rats

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of moxibustion, through stimulating acupoints of Danzhong(CV 17) and Ganshu(BL 18) in rats with hyperplasia of mammary gland(HMG) which induced by estrogen and ***: Thirty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into saline control group,HMG model group, and HMG moxibustion group with 10 in each group. Saline control was the group injected by saline. HMG model were created by injection of estrogen and progestogen. Moxibustion group was also injected of estrogen and progesto-gen with moxibustion at the same time. The Changes of nipple diameter and height were *** rats' skin temperature was recorded by an infrared thermal camera at the nipples, mammary areas,Danzhong(CV 17) and Ganshu(BL 18). Pathological changes of mammary gland in rats were also observed under light ***: The diameter and height of the nipples in model group were prominently bigger and higher than that in control group(P < 0.01). The diameter and height in moxibustion group were prominently smaller and lower than that in model group(P < 0.01), and there was no significant difference between moxibustion group and control *** with control group, skin temperature of the nipples, mammary area, and acupoints Danzhong(CV 17) and Ganshu(BL 18) decreased prominently in model group(P < 0.01-0.05). Compared with model group, skin temperature of that in moxibustion group increased prominently(P <0.05).CONCLUSION: Treatment with moxibustion can effectively decrease the HMG rats' nipple diameter and height, and increase the skin temperature in HMG model rats at the nipples, mammary areas,Danzhong(CV 17) and Ganshu(BL 18). This study convinces the therapeutic effect of moxibustion on mammary gland hyperplasia.

Comparative Study on Various Methods of Pressure in Compression Stockings

A series of self-designed and woven compression stockings were used in this pressure comparison experiment. In order to compare the differences of the garment pressure values exerted by the compression stockings with different structure parameters among three methods. The experiments were carried out with Flexi force sensors. The pressure value of nine pairs of compression stockings on five subjects and the model leg was collected, and the tensile force of the every section of these stockings was collected to calculate the pressure according to Laplace's equation. The data analysis results show that the pressure values of the compression stockings obtained by comparing the three methods have great differences in various testing methods. There is a significant correlation between processing parameters and stitch density(SD). The pressure design of the compression stockings should be based on the actual wearing of the pressure.

Photometric Stereo-Based 3D Reconstruction Method for the Objective Evaluation of Fabric Pilling

Fabric pilling evaluation has been considered as an essential element for textile quality inspection. Traditional manual method is still based on human eyes and brain, which is subjective with low efficiency. This paper proposes an objective evaluation method based on semi-calibrated near-light Photometric Stereo(PS). Fabric images are digitalized by self-developed image acquisition system. The 3D depth information of each point could be obtained by PS algorithm and then mapped to 2D grayscale image. After that, the non-textured image could be filtered by using the Gaussian low-pass filter. The pilling segmentation is conducted by using global iterative threshold segmentation method,and then K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN) is finally selected as a tool for the grade classification of fabric pilling. Our experimental results show that the proposed evaluation system could achieve excellent judging performance for the objective pilling evaluation.

Upgrading Paths of Chinese Textile and Clothing Based on Game Theory

The game theory is applied to analyze the benefits and losses of trade confliction between China and USA/EU in textile and clothing industry. Current situations of Chinese textile and clothing industry are also analyzed. The innovative upgrading paths of Chinese textile and clothing industry are suggested to realize from OEM, ODM to OBM in order to increase the competitive capacity, to add additional values, and to avoid the trade barriers of international market. The countermeasures and suggestiov.s are also put forward to make full use of comparative and backwardness advantages of China to win the game in the world market.

By using a double electron probe the electron density and electron temperature were measured during the low temperature plasma （LTP） treatment of wool fabrics. The dependences of the electron density upon the power, pressure and the plasma-treating time was studied. The effects on the wool fabrics＇ shrinkage were studied. The results showed that the angle of the double electrostatic probe and the area of the treated fabrics had a strong impact on the density measurement. The felt-proof property of wool fabrics treated with an argon plasma was better than that with a nitrogen plasma. The gas, power and pressure of the LTP treatment all affected the electron density. The electron density increased with the increase in power and pressure. The electron density did not change significantly with treating time, in a certain range of both power and pressure of the LTP treatment.
