Superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted extensive interests and researches into their fundamentals and potential *** texturing provides the convenience to fabricate the hierarchical micro/nanostructures for ***,after laser texturing,long wettability transition time from superhydrophilicity to superhydrophobicity is a barrier to mass production and practical industrial *** stimuli have been applied to change the surface composition and/or the surface morphology to reduce wettability transition ***,by temperature tuning,wettability transition of laser textured brass surfaces is *** electron microscopy and surface contact angle measurement are employed to characterize the surface morphology and wettability behavior of the textured brass *** low-temperature heating(100℃~150℃),partial deoxidation of the top Cu O layer occurs to form hydrophobic Cu_***,superhydrophobicity without any chemical coating and surface modification could be achieved in a short ***,after low-temperature heating,the low adhesive force between the water droplet and the sample surface is demonstrated for the laser textured brass *** study provides a simple method to fabricate the micro/nanostructure surfaces with controllable wettability for the potential applications.

In this paper, the variation of a signal in Schwarzschild spacetime is studied and a general equation for frequency shift parameter(FSP) is presented. The FSP is found to depend on the gravitationally modified Doppler effects and the gravitational effects of observers. In addition, the time rates of a transmitter and receiver may differ. When the FSP is a function of the receiver time, the FSP contributed through the gravitational effect(GFSP) or the gravitationally modified Doppler effect(GMDFSP) may convert a bandlimited signal into a non-bandlimited signal. Using the general equation, the FSP as a function of receiver time is calculated in three scenarios:(a) a spaceship leaving a star at constant velocity communicating with a transmitter at a fixed position;(b) a spaceship moving around a star with different conic trajectories communicating with a transmitter at a fixed position; and(c) a signal transmitted from a fixed position in a star system to a receiver following an elliptic trajectory in another star system. The studied stars are a Sun-like star, a white dwarf, and a neutron star. The theory is illustrated with numerical examples.

A 2-graph is a hypergraph with edge sizes of at most two. A regular 2-graph is said to be minimal if it does not contain a proper regular factor. Let f2(n) be the maximum value of degrees over all minimal regular 2-graphs of n vertices. In this paper, we provide a structure property of minimal regular 2-graphs, and consequently, prove that f2(n) = n+3-i/3, where 1 ≤ i ≤ 6, i ≡ n (mod 6) and n ≥ 7, which solves a conjecture posed by Fan, Liu, Wu and Wong. As applications in graph theory, we are able to characterize unfactorable regular graphs and provide the best possible factor existence theorem on degree conditions. Moreover, fa(n) and the minimal 2-graphs can be used in the universal switch box designs, which originally motivated this study.

Cooperative behaviors are ubiquitous in nature and human *** is very important to understand the internal mechanism of emergence and maintenance of *** we know now,the offsprings inherit not only the phenotype but also the neighborhood relationship of their *** recent research results show that the interactions among individuals facilitate survival of cooperation through network reciprocity of clustering *** paper aims at introducing an inheritance mechanism of neighborhood relationship to explore the evolution of *** detail,a mathematical model is proposed to characterize the evolutionary process with the above inheritance *** analysis and numerical simulations indicate that high-level cooperation can emerge and be maintained for a wide variety of cost-to-benefit ratios,even if mutation happens during the evolving process.

Physical metallurgical(PM)and data-driven approaches can be independently applied to alloy *** technology is a field of physical metallurgy around which some of the most comprehensive understanding has been developed,with vast models on the relationship between composition,processing,microstructure and *** have been applied to the design of new steel alloys in the pursuit of grades of improved *** the advent of rapid computing and low-cost data storage,a wealth of data has become available to a suite of modelling techniques referred to as machine learning(ML).ML is being emergingly applied in materials discovery while it requires data mining with its adoption being limited by insufficient high-quality datasets,often leading to unrealistic materials design predictions outside the boundaries of the intended *** is therefore required to appraise the strength and weaknesses of PM and ML approach,to assess the real design power of each towards designing novel steel *** work incorporates models and datasets from well-established literature on marageing *** genetic algorithm(GA)with PM models to optimise the parameters adopted for each dataset to maximise the prediction accuracy of PM models,and the results were compared with ML *** results indicate that PM approaches provide a clearer picture of the overall composition-microstructureproperties relationship but are highly sensitive to the alloy system and hence lack on exploration ability of new *** conversely provides little explicit physical insight whilst yielding a stronger prediction accuracy for large-scale *** PM/ML approaches provide solutions maximising accuracy,while leading to a clearer physical picture and the desired properties.
