Regulation of D-galacturonate metabolism in <i>Caulobacter crescentus</i>by HumR, a LacI-family transcriptional repressor

The oligotrophic freshwater bacterium Caulobacter crescentus encodes a cluster of genes (CC_1487 to CC_1495) shown here to be necessary for metabolism of D-galacturonate, the primary constituent of pectin, a major plant polymer. Sequence analysis suggests that these genes encode a version of the bacterial hexuronate isomerase pathway. A conserved 14 bp sequence motif is associated with promoter regions of three operons within this cluster, and is conserved in homologous gene clusters in related alpha-Proteobacteria. Embedded in the hexuronate gene cluster is a gene (CC_1489) encoding a member of the LacI family of bacterial transcription factors. This gene product, designated here as HumR (hexuronate metabolism regulator), represses expression of the uxaA and uxaC operon promoters by binding to the conserved operator sequence. Repression is relieved in the presence of galacturonate or, to a lesser extent, by glucuronate. Other genes potentially involved in pectin degradation and hexuronate transport are also under the control of HumR. Adoption of a LacI-type repressor to control hexuronate metabolism parallels the regulation of xylose, glucose, and maltose utilization in C. crescentus, but is distinct from the use of GntR-type repressors to control pectin and hexuronate utilization in gamma-Proteobacteria such as Escherichia coli.

This paper focuses on the design of the cross layer between the video application layer and the MIMO physical layer. MIMO physical layer research has promised an enormous increase in the capacity of wireless communication systems. Also MIMO wireless systems operate under fading conditions where the channel faces arbitrary fluctuations. Since the wireless channel changes over each coherence period, the capacity of the wireless channel, given the power constraints, changes. Hence to make efficient use of the available capacity one needs to adapt the video bit rate. However it is impossible to adapt at the application layer as changing the parameters of the video takes more time than the coherence period of the channel. In this paper we address this problem through a novel solution and also investigate its performance through a simulation study.

The grooved carpet-shell clam Ruditapes decussatus is native to the Northern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea and has a high commercial *** is one of the main native bivalve species cultured in *** main objective of the present study was to gain further insights into the immunological repertoire of *** through a transcriptomic *** mantle samples of eight *** individuals were sequenced using Illumina platform.A total of 67132 contigs with more than 800 bp were *** annotation of these contigs revealed 146 immune-related *** gene families in which the highest number of immune-related genes was observed were:C1q domain-containing proteins(63),tumor necrosis factors(15)and toll-like receptors(TLRs,10).A total of 5359 putative single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)were identified in the 146 immune-related *** density of SNPs ranged between 0.04 and 7.92 SNPs/100 *** highest and the lowest SNP density were observed in genes of the C1q domain-containing protein *** to the importance of TLRs in innate immunity,we focused our attention on these membrane *** TLRs were identified based on protein domain *** analysis revealed that *** TLRs were diverse and only 3 showed orthology with TLRs of known immune functions in other bivalve ***,our analysis suggests that lineage restricted-expansions of TLRs occurred in all mollusc taxa analysed including in venerids.

Lima is the capital of the Republic of Peru. It is the most important city in the country and as other Latin America metropolises have multiple problems, including air pollution due to particulate material above air quality standards, emitted by 1.6 million vehicles. The “on-line” coupled model of meteorology and chemistry of transport and meteorological/chemistry, WRF/Chem (Weather and Research Forecasting with Chemistry) has been used in the Lima Metropolitan Area, and validated against data observed at ground level with ten air quality stations of the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology for the year 2016. The goal of this study was to estimate the concentration of PM2.5 particulate matter in the months of February and July of 2016. In both months, the model satisfactorily predicts temperature and relative humidity. The average observed PM2.5 concentrations in the month of July are higher than in February, probably because the relative humidity in July is greater than the relative humidity in February. In the months of February and July the standard observed deviations of the model have a factor of 2.4 and 3.7 respectively, indicating a greater dispersion in the data of the model. In the month of July, the model captures the characteristics of transport, shows characteristic peaks during peak hours, therefore, the model estimates transport behavior better in July than in February. The quality of the air is strongly influenced by the vehicular transport. The PM2.5 particulate material in February had an average bias that varied from [?13.2 to 4.4 μg/m3] and in July [?9.63 to 11.65 μg/m3] and a normalized average bias in February that varied from [?0.68 to 0.43] and in July of [?0.46 to 0.48].
