This paper contributes about the behaviour of Acoustic Emission (AE) signatures of implanted weld defects of SS 316L materials. Lack of penetration and lack of side fusion defects were implanted in weld bead region of the materials. Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG) is adopted to weld the Stainless Steel (SS316L) nuclear grade materials. The material is fabricated with dimensions of 140 × 16 × 10 mm and AE signatures are studied under preload conditions. Mechanical Jig is fabricated to maintain constant load in concentrated weld region. When external load is applied on the weld region, the deformed specimen experiences acoustic emission signals form the weld defect region which are potential source of releasing stress energy. Liner Location Technique (LLT) is adopted for AE singal studies and the generated signal is processed by 2-channel USB—AE node and AE-WIN software. The tests are conducted on two different samples having each defect. A conventional NDT method i.e. X-ray Radiography is conducted on the samples to know the defect ranging and correlated with AE signatures. This study will be helpful to standardize the AE signals for different implanted weld defects of SS 316L materials and it is found that, the parameter “counts vs. amplitude” has given the widest distinction with respect to the type of defects.

Distributed fiber sensing possesses the unique ability to measure the distributed profile of an environmental quantity along many tens of kilometers with spatial resolutions in the meter or even centimeter *** feature enables distributed sensors to provide a large number of resolved points using a single optical ***,in current systems,this number has remained constrained to a few hundreds of thousands due to the finite signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of the measurements,which imposes significant challenges in the development of more performing ***,we propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultimately optimized distributed fiber sensor capable of resolving 2100000 independent points,which corresponds to a one-orderof-magnitude improvement compared to the *** a Brillouin distributed fiber sensor based on phase-modulation correlation-domain analysis combined with temporal gating of the pump and time-domain acquisition,a spatial resolution of 8.3 mm is demonstrated over a distance of 17.5 *** sensor design addresses the most relevant factors impacting the SNR and the performance of medium-to-long range sensors as well as of sub-meter spatial resolution *** step record in the number of resolved points could be reached due to two theoretical models proposed and experimentally validated in this study:one model describes the spatial resolution of the system and its relation with the sampling interval,and the other describes the amplitude response of the sensor,providing an accurate estimation of the SNR of the measurements.

Background: In 2017, 900 million people in the world did not have sustainable access to safe drinking water (SDW). In addition, between 2016 and 2020, the global population with safely managed drinking water at home increased from 70 percent to 74 percent. Drinking water insecurity is the daily situation of people in developing countries. The lack of SDW supply is at the root of many diseases, including diarrheal diseases. Kassouala is a village in the municipality of Tchaourou without access to SDW, but having benefited from the drilling of a well in September 2018. The objective of this study was to study the effect of access to safe drinking water on the frequency of diarrheal diseases in Kassouala between January 2018 and July 2019. Methods: We conducted a quasi-experimental study in Kassouala using the natural experiments of the village of Bérétou as a control group for estimating the effect of a causal nature. There were double temporal (January 2018-July 2019) and geographical (Kassouala-Bérétou) comparisons based on data collected from health care registers. A population-based comparability survey of the two villages was conducted among 170 households in each village (experimental village, control village). A two-stage cluster sampling procedure was used to select the survey participants. Data were collected from heads of household by semi-structured questionnaire. We used Pearson or Mantel-Haenszel chi-square tests, as appropriate, and the “difference-in-difference” method to assess the effect. Results: In Kassouala, the proportion of households with access to safe drinking water had increased to 78.88%, whereas it was nil in 2018 before the well drilling, and the frequency of diarrheal diseases decreased significantly from January 2018 before drilling to July 2019 after drilling (57.11% to 44.64%;p Conclusion: Access to safe drinking water in Kassouala has a causal effect on the reduction of diarrheal diseases. Date palm production is critical to oasis agriculture,owing to its economic importance and nutritional *** diseases endanger this precious tree,putting a strain on the economy and *** scale Parlatoria blanchardi is a damaging bug that degrades the quality of *** an infestation reaches a specific degree,it might result in the tree’s *** counter this threat,precise detection of infected leaves and its infestation degree is important to decide if chemical treatment is *** decision is crucial for farmers who wish to minimize yield losses while preserving production *** this purpose,we propose a feature extraction and machine learning(ML)technique based framework for classifying the stages of infestation by white scale disease(WSD)in date palm trees by investigating their leaflets images.80 gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)texture features and 9 hue,saturation,and value(HSV)color moments features are extracted from both grayscale and color images of the used *** classify the WSD into its four classes(healthy,low infestation degree,medium infestation degree,and high infestation degree),two types of ML algorithms were tested;classical machine learning methods,namely,support vector machine(SVM)and k-nearest neighbors(KNN),and ensemble learning methods such as random forest(RF)and light gradient boosting machine(LightGBM).The ML models were trained and evaluated using two datasets:the first is composed of the extracted GLCM features only,and the second combines GLCM and HSV *** results indicate that SVM classifier outperformed on combined GLCM and HSV features with an accuracy of 98.29%.The proposed framework could be beneficial to the oasis agricultural community in terms of early detection of date palm white scale disease(DPWSD)and assisting in the adoption of preventive measures to protect both date palm trees and crop yield.

Energy demand will continue to rise as a result of predicted population growth. In this work, a user-friendly home energy monitoring system based on IoT is described, which is capable of collecting, analyzing, and displaying data. Users register their sensors and devices on the monitoring platform. PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch databases are used to store the resulting measurements. In a smart home, the wireless sensor ACS712 was used to monitor the flow of electricity (current and voltage) for a household device. The user can share data about electricity consumption and costs with a third party via the private IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) network. A third party can download all the energy consumption data for a device or many devices from the platform for 1 day, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. The studies on the development of energy-efficient technology for home devices benefit greatly from the gathered data. For security in the system, it is preferred to run Keyrock Idm, Wilma Pep Proxy, and Orion Context Broker in HTTPS mode, and MQTTS is used to retrieve sensor data. The experimental results showed that the energy monitoring system accurately records voltage, current, active power, and the total amount of power used and offers low-cost solutions to the users using household devices in a day.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) spectrum diagnosis is a fundamental building block for diverseOAM-based systems. Among others, the simple on-axis interferometric measurement can retrieve theamplitude and phase information of complex OAM spectra in a few shots. Yet, its single-shot retrievalremains elusive, due to the signal–signal beat interference inherent in the measurement. Here, weintroduce the concept of Kramers–Kronig (KK) receiver in coherent communications to the OAM domain,enabling rigorous, single-shot OAM spectrum measurement. We explain in detail the working principle andthe requirement of the KK method and then apply the technique to precisely measure variouscharacteristic OAM states. In addition, we discuss the effects of the carrier-to-signal power ratio and thenumber of sampling points essential for rigorous retrieval and evaluate the performance on a large set ofrandom OAM spectra and high-dimensional spaces. Single-shot KK interferometry shows enormouspotential for characterizing complex OAM states in real time.
