Pore structure characteristics and controlling factors of different lithofacies in lacustrine shale: A case study of Fengcheng Formation in Mahu Sag， Junggar Basin

The practice of shale oil exploration and development all over the world has shown that reservoir quality is a key factor restricting oil and gas production， the study of ultra-deep (4 500 m) reservoirs in petroliferous basins is a hot spot for oil and gas exploration in the world today. In this paper， taking the Fengcheng Formation (P1f) in Mahu Sag of Junggar Basin as an example， through experiments such as geochemistry， whole rock analysis， FE-SEM， N2 adsorption， and CO2 adsorption， the lithofacies are separated， and the pore structure properties of the various lithofacies are compared. Discuss the primary influencing elements that lead to pore structure differences. The results reveal that the shale of the P1f can be separated into four lithofacies (namely felsic shale， mixed shale， lime shale and dolomitic shale)， according to the mineral composition. The shale pores of P1f develop intergranular pores， intragranular pores， organic pores and micro-fractures. Among them， intergranular pores， intragranular pores and micro-fractures are the most developed， and the pore size is larger， which is a favorable storage space. Different lithofacies have different pore development characteristics. With the change of lithofacies (mixed shale - dolomitic shale - lime shale - felsic shale)， the size of the developed pores changes from small to large， and the pore structure changes from "Mainly microporous" to "mainly macropores". The felsic shale has developed laminae， mainly mesopores and macropores， with the largest pore diameter and the highest content of brittle minerals， which is the dominant lithofacies in the shale oil reservoir of the P1f. TOC， felsic and clay minerals all affect the pore development of shale in the P1f， but the influence of organic matter and inorganic minerals on pore volume varies with pore size. The Luliang and Baoshan basins of Yunnan Province are two small-sizedcontinental oil/gas-bearing sedimentary basins, which were developed at the bases of theCarboniferous and Devonian systems during the Late Tertiary, covering an area of 325 km^2 and 254km^2, respectively. Since the 1990s, there have been discovered small-sized natural gas pools inthese two basins. The natural gases are composed mainly of hydrocarbon gases, with nonhydrocarbonsaccounting for less than 2%. Of the hydrocarbon gases, methane accounts for more than 99%, and thecomponents above C_2 account for less than 0.2%. On the basis of previous studies of geologicalbackground, the composition of natural gases and their carbon isotopic composition, it has beendefined that these two gas pools are of bacterial origin. In this work we have comprehensivelymeasured the carbon and hydrogen isotopic composition of natural gases from these two basins andhave gone into the details of the mechanism of gas generation. The δ^(13)C_1 values of naturalgases from the Luliang Basin are within the range of -72.1 per thousand - -73.3 per thousand, andthe δD_(CH_4) values, -242 per thousand - -234 per thousand, indicating that the bacterial gasgeneration is dominated by the way of CO_2 reduction. It has been evidenced that undercontinental-facies fresh water conditions there did occur the CO_2 reduction as a process ofbacterial gas generation. The δ^(13)C_1 values of natural gases from the Baoshan Basin are withinthe range of - 62.5 per thousand - -63.5 per thousand, and the δD_(CH_4) values, -252 per thousand- -260 per thousand. These isotopic characteristics are fallen into transitional phase of acetatefermentation and CO_2 reduction as defined by Whiticar et al. (1986). An important discovery in theLuliang Basin is the carbon isotopic composition of ethane of purely biogenetic origin, i.e., itsδ^(13)C_2 values are within the range of - 61.2 per thousand - - 66.0 per thousand. As a new jet technology developed in recent years, the supercritical carbon dioxide（SC-CO2） jet technology enjoys many advantages when applied in oil and gas explorations. In order to study the properties and parametric influences of the SC-CO2 jet, the flow fields of the SC-CO2 jet are simulated using the computational fluid dynamics method. The flow field of the SC-CO2 is compared with that of the water jet. The influences of several parameters on the flow field of the SC-CO2 jet are studied. It is indicated that like the water jet, the velocity and the pressure of the SC-CO2 jet could be converted to each other, and the SC-CO2 jet can generate a significant impact pressure on the wall, the SC-CO2 jet has a stronger impact pressure and a higher velocity than those of the water jet under the same conditions, the maximum velocity and the impact pressure of the SC-CO2 jet increase with the increase of the nozzle pressure drop, under the stimulation condition of this study, the influence of the SC-CO2 temperature on the impact pressure can be neglected in engineering applications, while the maximum velocity of the SC-CO2 jet increases with the increase of the fluid temperature. This paper theoretically explores the properties of the SC-CO2 jet flow field, and the results might provide a theoretical basis for the application of the SC-CO2 jet in oil and gas well drillings and fracturing stimulations.

The ultra-deep Ordovician reservoirs in North Shuntuoguole Oilfield(or Shunbei Oilfield)of sinopec have achieved annual production of one million ton,and the oil&gas in different faults show different physical properties and fluid *** this study,the 28 oil samples from the ultra-deep Ordovician were analyzed using whole oil *** heptane and isoheptane values of the oil samples were in the range of 29.79%‒46.86%and 1.01%-3.06%,respectively,indicating the oils are high *** maturity that calculated based on light hydrocarbon values was higher than which calculated by using aromatic hydrocarbon parameters,suggesting the light hydrocarbon maturity mostly reflects the maturity of the late charged *** 2M-/3M-C5 and 2M-/3M-C_(6) ratios varied in the ranges of 1.41‒1.81 and 0.79-1.09,respectively,and the iC_(5)/nC_(5) and 3M-C_(5)/nC_(6) ratios were 0.31‒0.90 and 0.16-0.37,respectively,indicating that ultra-deep Ordovician reservoirs have not experienced *** Mango parameter K_(1) of the oil samples ranges 0.96‒1.01 except for the oil from Well SB4,which suggests that most of the reservoirs have not suffered thermochemical sulfur reduction(TSR).Meanwhile,the oils have not experienced evaporative fractionation since the toluene/nC_(7) and nC_(7)/MCC_(6) ratios range from 0.10-0.38 and 1.50‒1.80,*** close correlation between P_(3) and P_(2)+N_(2) and between P_(2) and N_(2)/P_(3) indicates that the oils from different faults have the same *** to the characteristics of LHs rich in n-alkane,as well as other biomarkers,such as aryl isoprenoids,and aromatic hydrocarbon parameters,the oil originated from the source rock of Lower Cambrian Yu’ertusi ***,the source rocks in different fault zones slightly differed in organic facies.

Seismic velocity is important to migration of seismic data, interpretation of lithology and lithofacies as well as prediction of reservoir. The information of shear wave velocity is required to reduce the uncertainty for discriminating lithology, identifying fluid type in porous material and calculating gas saturation in reservoir prediction. Based on Zoeppritz equations, a numeral and scanning method was proposed in this paper. Shear wave velocity can be calculated with prestack converted wave data. The effects were demonstrated by inversion of theoretical and real seismic data.

Based on a conceptual model of hydrocarbon microseepage, a macro-sized experimental equipment used the matched mixtures of cement and quartz sand as simulated caprock and its overlying strata is first set up to simulate the processes of hydrocarbon microseepage and its nearsurface expressions. The results of the simulation experiments suggest that simulated caprock and its overlying strata have a certain sealed capability; hydrocarbon microseepage is dominated by the pressure of point gas source, and temperature plays only a subordinate role; on the path of hydrocarbon microseepage, the distribution of hydrocarbon concentration is fan-shaped; differential adsorption of aikanes by the simulated caprock and its overlying strata results in the occurrence of a chromatographic effect. Different migrating patterns within simulated caprock are shown by the ratio of i-butane to n-butane. The concentration of hydrocarbon in the surface soil has good correspondence with the pressure of point gas source. These simulation results are significant to further study of the mechanism of anomalies recovered in surface geochemistry exploration.

Formation Models and Distribution of Oil and Gas Pools in Tarim Basin, China

This article reports the main formation models and distribution of the oil and gas pools in Tarim basin, China, including （1） occurrence of the found oil and gas pools, （2） main formation models of oil and gas pools, and （3） distribution law of oil/gas pools. petroleum is distributed widely in the strata of Tarim basin from the Sinian at the bottom to the Neogene at the top. However, the found oil and gas fields are mainly distributed in Shaya （沙雅） uplift, Tazhong （塔中） uplift, and Kuche （库车） depression. This article presents 4 main formation models, namely, early formation and long-term preservation, early formation and late reformation, middle-late multiphase-multisource formation, late single-stage formation. Tarim basin is very rich in petroleum resources. Long-term inherited intrabasinal paleohighs and slope zones are the most favorable areas for accumulation of hydrocarbons, but the types of oil and gas pools are different from area to area. The control of unconformities and faults on hydrocarbon accumulating is prominent in Tarim basin. Preservation conditions are of utmost importance. Formation of some oil and gas pools is the result of reforming and re-accumulating of early accumulated hydrocarbons.

To assess whether a development strategy will be profitable enough,production forecasting is a crucial and difficult step in the *** development history of other reservoirs in the same class tends to be studied to make predictions ***,the permeability field,well patterns,and development regime must all be similar for two reservoirs to be considered in the same *** results in very few available experiences from other reservoirs even though there is a lot of historical information on numerous reservoirs because it is difficult to find such similar *** paper proposes a learn-to-learn method,which can better utilize a vast amount of historical data from various ***,the proposed method first learns how to learn samples before directly learning rules in ***,by utilizing gradients from networks with independent parameters and copied structure in each class of reservoirs,the proposed network obtains the optimal shared initial parameters which are regarded as transferable information across different *** on that,the network is able to predict future production indices for the target reservoir by only training with very limited samples collected from reservoirs in the same *** cases further demonstrate its superiority in accuracy to other widely-used network methods.

Main Controlling Factors on Hydrocarbon Accumulation and Distribution in Marine Sedimentary Sequences in South China

Multiple source rock assemblages were deposited in the sedimentary provinces in South China in geologic history, and some of them were destructed by and some survived against multiple tectonic movements. Therefore, multiple sources, mixed sources, and uneven distribution of sources occurred in the marine sedimentary basins in South China during the late stage of hydrocarbon pooling. Epidiagenesis of the marine carbonate reservoirs and its modification to reservoir poroperm characteristics determined the formation and the scale of natural gas pools. The exploration practices show that the large to medium gas fields mainly occur in areas with high-quality reservoirs. Detailed study of the paleo-oil accumulations and typical oil and gas reservoirs reveals that the basins experienced multiphase superimposition and modification, leading to the distribution of the Paleozoic paleo-oil accumulations and bitumen in the peripheral areas. The phenomenon that oil and gas production concentrates in the Sichuan basin indicates that the overall sealing conditions of a basin determine the oil/gas potentials and the scale of oil and gas production. This is a critical factor controlling the accumulation and distribution of gas in the marine sequences in South China. The early oil and gas pools in the Yangtze platform left billions of bitumen in the peripheral areas due to the destruction of seals. Since the Himalayan, ＂late-generation and late-accumulation＂ gas pools represented by the gas pools in the Sichuan （四川） basin were formed in the marine sedimentary sequences in South China as a result of the change of the sealing conditions. Current gas discoveries appear to be ＂paleo-generation and paleoaccumulation＂ gas pools but actually are ＂late-generation and late-accumulation＂ gas pools. These patterns of hydrocarbon pooling clearly depict themselves in western Sichuan basin and Weiyuan （威远） gas field.
