Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, with breast cancer being the most common (2.26 million new cases and 685,000 deaths). In saudi arabia, breast cancer ranked the first among females in 2014, accounting for 15.9% of all cancers reported among saudi nationals and 28.7% of all cancers reported among females of all ages. Early detection of breast cancer could decrease the risks, have a better prognosis, and have better outcomes/more successful treatments. Prevalence of breast cancer reached more than 25% of all diagnosed cancer in the kingdom among women. Aim: This study aims to assess the knowledge and performance of women attending primary care centers about breast self-examination and mammogram screening for prevention and early detection of breast cancer in Abha city primary healthcare centers, Kingdom of saudi arabia. Research Method: cross sectional design was conducted by using questionnaire, which was distributed to primary care center nurses. The collected data was statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 25. Results: The study found that participants had poor awareness and knowledge about breast self-examination, risk factors for breast cancer, and trends and practices in early diagnosis of breast cancer. Conclusion and Recommendations: It recommends increasing awareness campaigns and providing educational programs to improve knowledge and practices.

This paper presents results of a pilot research conducted among social networks of both Sudanese and Egyptians in Jeddah city, saudi arabia （SA）. The main objectives of the research are focused into four interrelated issues：（1） to analyse the structural-function of the social networks of Sudanese and Egyptian migrants; （2） to explain the opportunities and challenges confronting the social networks; （3） to examine the elements of implications on SA society as perceived by the networks; and （4） to identify perceived future visions of the social network members in the context of their social and economic remittances in both countries. The research has applied a qualitative method and a structured interview sheet was used for data collection. The Sudanese sample focused on members from a Nubian social network in ]eddah who resemble skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labours, while the Egyptian sample selected randomly from semi-skilled youth labours and unskilled labours as informal groups. The research has found some differences in the structural functions of both groups. There are many similarities shared between the two groups in relation to conserving social ties, support and cooperation as one homogeneous socio-ethnic groups in the hosting country. Also, the results show that both groups follow similar strategies of social and economic remittances to home land. Moreover, both groups are suffering and facing many shared challenges regarding economic security and sustainability in the hosting country. While, the Sudanese group has clear vision in respect of the betterment of the migrants in SA, the Egyptian group perceives the future as gloomy and uncertain.

The main purpose of this study is determining the extent of achieving American Diabetes Association （ADA） targets in diabetes type I and II at KFUH （King Fahd Hospital of University） in the year of 2012. Observational, cross sectional, retrospective study was conducted on 479 patients; the informations were reviewed using Quadramed CPR system. All the data obtainedwere analyzed by medical statistician using SPSS program. The results show that only 19.0% was achieved the target of HbA~; and the targets of LDL, HDL and TG were achieved in 38.4%, 35.9%, and 48.2% respectively. The routine ophthalmology and dietitian review were found to be in only 32.1% and 27.3%, respectively. The use of medications recommended by ADA was 51.4% for aspirin and 54.7 % for both statin and ACE inhibitor. The present study indicated that most of the ADA guidelines were not achieved in our diabetic patients being followed in our center, which is almost similar to other studies in most of the parameters. The achievement of diabetes targets is a difficult task but may not be impossible. It requires a multidisciplinary approach. So, further studies are needed to determine the reasons behind the gap between practice and guidelines.

Background: The prompt management of patients with bowel obstruction is essential and requires initial rapid diagnosis and therapeutic intervention. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to explore the clinical presentation and pattern of management of bowel obstruction in Northern saudi arabia. Methodology: About 92 files referring to patients presented with obstructive bowel conditions during the period from 2013 to 2017 were retrieved from department of surgery at King Khalid Hospital, Hail, Northern saudi arabia. Results: Most of cases of bowel obstruction were found in 2014, followed by 2013, 2016, 2015, and 2017 constituting 22, 20, 20, 15, and 15 cases, respectively. About 76, 52, 69, 58, 13, and 28 of the patients presented with pain, constipation, vomiting, abdominal distention, bowel sound and accompanied disease, respectively. Conclusion: Laparotomy was the most common methods of bowel obstruction management in Northern saudi arabia. Many patients with bowel obstruction symptoms can improve without surgical intervention.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that is significantly impacted daily by environment. At least one in five saudis, suffer from diabetes. “Diabetes is a pandemic of unprecedented magnitude spiraling out of control” (Boulton). saudi arabia ranks the second highest in the Middle East, and is the seventh in the world for the prevalence of diabetes (WHO). Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been found to be related to high mortality, morbidity accompanied by poor general health and lower quality of life. Current saudi diabetes patients’ behaviors, practices, and beliefs regarding foot health problems such as ulcers, are not well investigated. Diabetic patients frequently utilize natural remedies and Herbs for self-medication as a part of complementary and alternative Medicine. Aim of study: To explore the widespread use of the alternative remedies in the local communities of the Western saudi arabia, the drives behind using and to focus on the potential adverse effects following their usage. Method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of 386 diabetic patients with feet problems in Makkah Region, West of saudi arabia during the period April - June 2023. Results: Out of the 531 participants, only 386 participants reported diabetic foot disorder (DFD). Most of the participant were above 65 years of age group (24.61 %). Male (52.08%) more than female (47.92%) in the research group. All of the participants had diabetic foot disorders at least once. The prevalence of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) use among them was 67.88%, as solitary or in combination with hospital medicines. Honey headed the list followed by myrrh and black seeds. Acquaintances advice (59.54%) was the most reason for using the alternative medicine. 60.30% of Diabetic foot patient complained of adverse effects during CAM remedies use. Conclusion: Consumption of CAM remedies among diabetic patients for Diabetic Foot Disorder (DFD) is common. Honey headed the list followed by myrrh and black seeds. Addit

Background and Objective: Female infertility may be attributed to several causes that are fundamentally related to the health status of women. The main objective of this project was to correlate the abundance of the microbiota in cervicovaginal fluid to infertility. Materials & Methods: A total of 36 married women who voluntarily came to the hospital in Riyadh for a routine visit participated in the study. To collect the cervicovaginal liquid, a SoftcupTM menstrual device was used by the participant;the cup was then transported in a liquid nitrogen box to the laboratory for analysis. Results: The mean vaginal pH in normal women and infertile women was 3.96 and 5.06, respectively, and the difference between the two cohorts was significant (p 5.5, is primarily composed of G. vaginalis, P. anaerobius, Mycoplasma hominis, Mobiluncus species and Atopobium vaginae. The protein content and viscosity of the cervicovaginal liquid were significantly lower in infertile women compared to normal women (p < 0.05).

Background:?Endometriosis is defined by the presence of viable extrauterine endometrial glands and stroma with unclear etiology and pathogenesis. It has been associated with female infertility. Infertility is defined as the failure of sexually active couple, not using contraception to achieve a clinical pregnancy after one year or more of regular sexual intercourse. Infertility is a symptom of endometriosis in up to 50% of women. Methods:?Descriptive?cross-sectional study was conducted in Kind Abdulaziz Hospital in Almina, South Jeddah, saudi arabia. The total sample obtained was 507 participants. Participants were married saudi women attending the outpatient or inpatient departments in the hospital. Pre-designed disseminated questionnaire was distributed for data collection, and data were entered and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS Inc. Chicago, IL, USA) version 23. Results:?Most (47.9%) of the studied women aged 31?-?40 years, 41.9% were obese and 1.2% were smokers while 42.2% were passive smokers, and only 3.7% exercise regularly. Prevalence of infertility was 23.3% and endometriosis was 10.7%. It was found that there was a significant correlation between endometriosis and infertility (P?=?0.025). Conclusion:?Although many women with endometriosis get pregnant and deliver healthy infants, endometriosis is highly associated with infertility. More studies are needed to investigate the pathobiology of this condition.

During this research, it was verified that small dams play an important role in groundwater sustainability and agriculture. The main objective of this study was to assess the impacts of the Wadi Tendahah dam on groundwater and agriculture. Proper planning and management of small dams may improve sustainable agriculture in the Tendahah region. The study also found that the construction of the Tendahah Valley Dam on an impermeable rock layer had a major role in the lack of groundwater recharge, especially in the dry seasons, and this, in turn, affected agriculture in its study area. Given the positive and negative impacts of the Tendahah Valley Dam or similar, the appropriate place for the construction and maintenance of small dams should be chosen periodically.
