Ocular manifestations of children with atopic dermatitis in saudi arabia

AIM:To examine the incidence of ocular abnormalities in children with atopic dermatitis(AD)in saudi arabia and its association with the severity of ***:This is a cross-sectional study on 50 children with AD who were between 5 and 16 years of *** severity of AD was evaluated using the SCORing Atopic Dermatitis(SCORAD)*** the children underwent slit lamp exams,visual acuity assessment,intraocular pressure measurement,and corneal *** children were considered to have an ophthalmic abnormality if one or more of the following signs were present:glaucoma,keratoconus suspicion,in addition to lid,conjunctival,corneal,lenticular,or retinal ***:Based on the SCORAD severity index,14%of children had mild AD(7/50),38%had moderate AD(19/50),and nearly half had severe *** than half the children exhibited facial involvement,and half had peri-orbital *** mean SCORAD index was *** mean age was 10.48±3.6y,and the cohort showed a slight male predominance(54%males).Both eyes of the 50 children in the cohort were *** on the ocular examinations,92%of the patients showed ocular abnormalities:lid abnormalities(27/50)followed by keratitis(22/50).Four patients had moderate risk for keratoconus in one eye and eight patients were suspected to have ***,SCORAD severity index was not associated with age,sex,or the number or presence of ophthalmic ***:This is the first study in saudi arabia to evaluate the prevalence of ocular manifestations in children with *** results indicate that the majority of children with AD have ocular abnormalities that mainly include lid *** on these findings,larger scale studies are needed to affirm whether regular screening for ophthalmic abnormalities would be beneficial for children with AD in terms of early intervention and prevention of sight-threatening complications.

Cupping therapy （Hijama in Arabic） is a popular traditional treatment especially in Asia, the Middle East and Central Europe. Traditionally, cupping therapy has been one of the most used practices in saudi arabia. Standardization of the practice of cupping therapy is a very important step to eliminate or reduce any adverse events related to cupping. This article gives a brief illustration and highlights the important points of the first accredited saudi arabian standards for the safe use of cupping equipment and its applications.

The advantages of the demand control ventilation system(DCV)have been widely discussed in previous research ***,the literature has not addressed the benefits of DCV on controlling indoor CO_(2)concentration and minimizing cooling energy consumption for school buildings located in extremely hot ***,this paper contributes to the development of DCV and mechanical ventilation systems through a comprehensive evaluation of these systems to maintain acceptable indoor air quality(IAQ)while minimizing cooling energy demands for school buildings located in the harsh hot climate of saudi *** evaluation is based on a calibrated whole-building energy model and validated IAQ predictions using field data obtained from a school case study in *** results of this research study confirm that hourly and sub-hourly monitoring of indoor CO_(2)concentration is required to ensure optimal design and operation of the ventilation systems in *** addition,the analyses indicate that a 13%increase in cooling energy end-use can result for any additional 0.1 students/m^(2)density increase in the ***,the energy penalties related to ventilation needs can be reduced by up to 25%using DCV instead of conventional mechanical ventilation systems for school buildings located in saudi arabia’s hot climate.

AIM:To explore levels and determinants of awareness and knowledge about glaucoma among ***:This was a cross-sectional study that included adult patients from October to the end of December 2018.A semi-structured questionnaire was designed by the researchers to measure the levels of awareness and knowledge about 18 basic information about *** sheet was divided into 4 domains:types of glaucoma,risk factors,clinical features,and management.A knowledge score(KS,range=0-18)was calculated,with higher scores indicating higher ***:A total of 383 patients responded to the questionnaire,61.9%males,mean±SD age was 38.5±12.94 years old,and 61.6%had a university degree or *** them,6.3%and 23.2%reported personal and family history of glaucoma,*** most frequently reported source of information about glaucoma was another person with glaucoma(28.2%),followed by physicians(24.8%)and TV(19.6%).Knowledge by item ranged from 3.1%to 82.5%correctness rate,while KS showed mean=5.91 and median=5;and reliability testing of the knowledge scale showed Cronbach’s alpha=*** KS were found among respondents with higher educational level(P=0.036),diabetes history(P=0.025),and personal(P<0.001)and family(P<0.001)history of ***:This study reveals low awareness and knowledge levels about glaucoma among the attendees of a local eye care hospital,where several misconceptions about disease risk factors,clinical features,and management are identified.

The present study aimed to predict differential enrichment of pathways and compounds in the rhizosphere microbiomes of the two wild plants(Abutilon fruticosum and Nitrosalsola vermiculata)and to predict functional shifts in microbiomes due to *** sequencing of 16S rRNA region V3–V4 was done and gene-based microbial compositions were enrolled in PICRUSt to predict enriched pathways and *** results indicated that“ABC transporters”and“Quorum sensing”pathways are among the highest enriched pathways in rhizosphere microbiomes of the two wild plants compared with those of the bulk soil *** highest enriched compounds in soil microbiomes of the two wild plants included five proteins and three enzymes participating in one or more KEGG *** of these eight compounds showed higher predicted enrichment in rhizosphere soil microbiomes,while only one,namely phosphate transport system substrate-binding protein,showed higher enrichment in the surrounding bulk soil *** terms of differentially enriched compounds due to watering,only the dual-specific aspartyl-tRNA(Asn)/glutamyl-tRNA(Gln)amidotransferase subunit A showed higher enrichment in rhizosphere soil of the two wild plants after 24 h of *** of the highly enriched compounds namely branched-chain amino acid transport system ATP-binding protein and branched-chain amino acid transport system substrate-binding protein,are encoded by genes stimulated by the plant’s GABA that participates in conferring biotic and abiotic stresses in plants and improves the plant’s growth *** 3-Oxoacyl-[ACP]reductase,a member of the short-chain alcohol dehydrogenase/reductase(SDR)superfamily,participates in fatty acids elongation cycles and contributes to plant-microbe symbiotic relationships,while enoyl-CoA hydratase has a reverse action as it participates in“Fatty acid degradation”*** methyl-accepting chemotaxis protein is an environmental signal that sense“Bacteri

Background:Lung cancer(LC)is one of the most common neoplastic diseases and a leading cause of death in saudi *** incidence in saudi arabia has increased by more than 3%within two *** study aimed to describe the epidemiological and genetic landscapes of LC in Al-Madinah city in saudi ***:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 65 patients diagnosed with lung cancer between 2015 and 2021 at a single medical oncology center in Al-Madinah city of saudi ***:The mean patients’age was 59.2 years,with 50(76.9%)males and 15(23.1%)females;37(57%)smokers,and 28(43%)*** number of cases per year has increased gradually over six years from 2015(n=3)to 2020(n=13).The most prevalent histopathological diagnosis was non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)(n=58,89%)followed by small cell lung cancer(SCLC)(n=5,7.8%).NSCLC was frequently more common in smokers while squamous cell carcinoma was more frequent in *** 89%(n=58)of the cases were diagnosed in late stage IV and the most common metastatic sites were to pleura and lymph nodes(n=32,49.2%).Program Death Legend-1(PDL-1)was fairly expressed in 7/10(70%)*** Growth Factor Receptor(EGFR)was mutated in 5/17(29%)*** mutations detected include Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase(ALK)and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PIK3C)mutations in two ***:Our study revealed that lung cancer is a significant burden in AlMadinah city of saudi *** the risk factors are not controlled,the number of cases may increase *** education about the risk factors and cancer prevention helps in early lung cancer detection.

This article aims to assess health habits,safety behaviors,and anxiety factors in the community during the novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)pandemic in saudi arabia based on primary data collected through a questionnaire with 320 *** other words,this paper aims to provide empirical insights into the correlation and the correspondence between sociodemographic factors(gender,nationality,age,citizenship factors,income,and education),and psycho-behavioral effects on individuals in response to the emergence of this new *** focus on the interaction between these variables and their effects,we suggest different methods of analysis,comprising regression trees and support vector machine regression(SVMR)*** to the regression tree results,the age variable plays a predominant role in health habits,safety behaviors,and *** health habit index,which focuses on the extent of behavioral change toward the commitment to use the health and protection methods,is highly affected by gender and age *** average monthly income is also a relevant factor but has contrasting effects during the COVID-19 pandemic *** results of the SVMR model reveal a strong positive effect of income,with R^(2) values of 99.59%,99.93%and 99.88%corresponding to health habits,safety behaviors,and anxiety.

Mineral deposit mapping is very essential for sustainable and eco-friendly exploitation of natural *** Kingdom of saudi arabia has abundant natural resources such as natural gas,oil and *** reserves high quantity of minerals such as phosphates,bauxites,copper,gold and other industrial *** red soil regions located in Hail and Qassim provinces of saudi arabia have rich amount of bauxite(major aluminum ore)*** order to initiate the focus on mapping of mineral deposits along this area,standardized hyper-spectral analysis has been carried out by using Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer(ASTER)satellite *** spectral signature of gibbsite(major element in bauxite)samples is analyzed with reference to the spectral features of gibbsite in the visible near infrared and short-wave infrared bands electromagnetic *** hyper-spectral transformations such as minimum noise fraction function and pixel purity index have been performed to identify the target *** existence of the mineral is confirmed by comparing the spectral signatures of the endmember with the predefined spectral plots of ASTER and United States Geological Survey spectral ***,the end-members are mapped and their abundance is estimated in 0–1 *** study has opened up new areas for mapping of bauxite deposits in the area and leads to eco-friendly exploitation of natural *** also validates the high potential of ASTER multispectral satellite data for the exploration and mapping of mineral resources.
