Dynamic propagation velocity of a positive streamer in a 3 m air gap under lightning impulse voltage

streamers represent an important stage in the initiation of gap discharge. In this work, we used an eight-frame intensified charge-coupled device camera to capture the streamer development process when a lightning impulse voltage of 95%–100% U50% was applied in a 3 m rod–plate gap and the streamer velocity was analyzed. Analysis of the observations shows that streamer velocity can be defined by three stages: rapid velocity decline(stage 1), rapid velocity rise(stage 2)and slow velocity decline(stage 3). The effects of electrode shape, applied voltage and gap breakdown or withstanding on streamer velocity were analyzed. The electrode with a larger radius of curvature will result in a higher initial velocity, and a higher voltage amplitude will cause the streamer to propagate faster at stage 3. Gap withstanding or breakdown has no obvious effect on streamer velocity. In addition, the experimental results are compared with previous results and the statistical characteristics of the primary streamer discharge are discussed.

In this study,we investigate the detectability of the secondary spin in an extreme mass ratio inspiral(EMRI) system within a modified gravity model coupled with a scalar *** central black hole,which reduces to a Kerr one,is circularly spiralled by a scalar-charged spinning secondary body on the equatorial *** analysis reveals that the presence of the scalar field amplifies the secondary spin effect,allowing for a lower limit of the detectability and an improved resolution of the secondary spin when the scalar charge is sufficiently *** findings suggest that secondary spin detection is more feasible when the primary mass is not large,and TianQin is the optimal choice for detection.

Remodeling Tumor Immune Microenvironment by Using Polymer-Lipid-Manganese Dioxide Nanoparticles with Radiation Therapy to Boost Immune Response of Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer

Despite substantial progress in the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), including radiation therapy and immunotherapy alone or in combination, the response to treatment remains poor due to the hypoxic and immunosuppressive nature of the tumor microenvironment. Herein, we exploited the bioreactivity of novel polymer–lipid manganese dioxide nanoparticles (PLMDs) to remodel the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) by increasing the local oxygen levels and extracellular pH and enhancing radiation-induced immunogenic cell death. This study demonstrated that PLMD treatment sensitized hypoxic human and murine CRPC cells to radiation, significantly increasing radiation-induced DNA double-strand breaks and ultimately cell death, which enhanced the secretion of damage-associated molecular patterns, attributable to the induction of autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress. Reoxygenation via PLMDs also polarized hypoxic murine RAW264.7 macrophages toward the M1 phenotype, enhancing tumor necrosis factor alpha release, and thus reducing the viability of murine CRPC TRAMP-C2 cells. In a syngeneic TRAMP-C2 tumor model, intravenous injection of PLMDs suppressed, while radiation alone enhanced recruitment of regulatory T cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Pretreatment with PLMDs followed by radiation down-regulated programmed death-ligand 1 and promoted the infiltration of antitumor CD8+ T cells and M1 macrophages to tumor sites. Taken together, TIME modulation by PLMDs plus radiation profoundly delayed tumor growth and prolonged median survival compared with radiation alone. These results suggest that PLMDs plus radiation is a promising treatment modality for improving therapeutic efficacy in radioresistant and immunosuppressive solid tumors.

Latewood width(LWW)indices of trees are considered a reliable proxy of summer precipitation in the Northern ***,the strong coupling and high correlation between earlywood width(EWW)and LWW indices often prevent registration of climate signals of the LWW *** this study,328-year-long earlywood width and latewood width chronologies were developed from Chinese pine at two sites in the Hasi Mountains,north central *** climate responses of these chronologies were analyzed and the LWW index used to derive sum-mer precipitation *** analyses showed that LWW was particularly influenced by earlywood growth and recorded stronger climate signals of the previous year as EWW,rather than those of the current year with infrequent summer climate ***,after removing the effect of earlywood growth using a simple regression model,the adjusted LWW chronology(LWW_(adj))showed a strong relationship with July precipitation in dry *** suggests that the LWW_(adj) chronology has the potential to be used to investigate long-term variability in summer precipitation in drought-limited regions.

Influence of the position relationship between the cathode and magnetic separatrix on the discharge process of a Hall thruster

Previous studies have shown that there is an obvious coupling relationship between the installation location of the external cathode and the magnetic separatrix in the plume region of a Hall *** this paper,the particle-in-cell simulation method is used to compare the thruster discharge process under the conditions of different position relationships between the cathode and the magnetic *** comparing the distribution of electron conduction,potential,plasma density and other microscopic parameters,we try to explain the formation mechanism of the discharge *** simulation results show that the cathode inside and outside the magnetic separatrix has a significant effect on the distribution of potential and plasma *** the cathode is located on the outer side of the magnetic separatrix,the potential above the plume region is relatively low,and there is a strong potential gradient above the plume *** potential gradient is more conducive to the radial diffusion of ions above the plume,which is the main reason for the strong divergence of the *** distribution of ion density is also consistent with the distribution of *** the cathode is located on the outer side of the magnetic separatrix,the radial diffusion of ions in the plume region is ***,by comparing the results of electron conduction,it is found that the traiectories of electrons emitted from the cathode are significantly different between the inner and outer sides of the magnetic *** is mainly because the electrons are affected by the magnetic mirror effect of the magnetic tip,which makes it difficult for the electrons to move across the magnetic *** is the main reason for the difference in potential *** this paper,the simulation results of macroscopic parameters under several conditions are also compared,and they are consistent with the experimental *** cathode is located on the inner side of the ma

Gyrokinetic simulation of magnetic-island-induced electric potential vortex mode

Ion temperature gradient(ITG)-driven turbulence with embedded static magnetic islands is simulated by utilizing a gyrokinetic theory-based global turbulence transport code(GKNET)in this *** from the traditional equilibrium circular magnetic-surface average(EMsA)method,an advanced algorithm that calculates the perturbed magnetic-surface average(PMsA)of the electric potential has been developed to precisely deal with the zonal flow component in a non-circular magnetic surface perturbed by magnetic *** show that the electric potential vortex structure inside islands induced by the magnetic islands is usually of odd parity when using the EMsA *** is found that the odd symmetry vortex can transfer into an even one after a steep zonal flow gradient,*** flow shear has been built in the vicinity of the magnetic islands by adopting the PMsA *** phase of the potential vortex in the poloidal cross section is coupled with the zonal flow *** an electric potential vortex mode may be of essential importance in wide topics,such as the turbulence spreading across magnetic islands,neoclassical tearing mode physics,and also the interaction dynamics between the micro-turbulence and MHD activities.
