The high rates of depression,burnout,and increased risk of suicide among medical students,residents,and physicians in comparison with other careers signal a mental health crisis within our *** contend that this crisis coupled with the inadequate acquisition of interpersonal skills during medical education results from the interaction between a challenging environment and the mental capital of ***,we posit that mindfulness-based practices are instrumental for the development of major components of mental capital,such as resilience,flexibility of mind,and learning skills,while also serving as a pathway to enhance empathy,compassion,self-awareness,conflict resolution,and relational ***,the evidence base supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions has been increasing over the years,and a growing number of medical schools have already integrated mindfulness into their *** we acknowledge that mindfulness is not a panacea for all educational and mental health problems in this field,we argue that there is currently an unprecedented opportunity to gather momentum,spread and study mindfulness-based programs in medical schools around the world as a way to address some longstanding shortcomings of the medical profession and the health and educational systems upon which it is rooted.

sarcopenia and Anemia Are Predictors of Poor Prognostic in Cervical Cancer Patients

objective: Evaluate pretreatment sarcopenia and anemia as prognostic factors in women undergoing treatment for cervical cancer (CC) with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods: 151 women with CC were analysed in this cohort study. Pretreatment computed tomography (CT) images were analysed to assess skeletal muscle index (sMI). Hazard ratios (HR) and multivariate Cox proportional HR were used to analyse association between low sMI, age, body mass index (BMI), haemoglobin levels, histological type, and International Federation of Gynaecology and obstetrics (FIGo) stage with PFs and os. Results: A total of 151 patients were included, 53 (35.1%) presented pretreatment sarcopenia;51 (34%) stage I/II and 100 (66%) stage III/IV. Among those patients in advanced stage (III/IV) 37 (70%) (p = 0.28) were sarcopenic at the beginning of treatment. sarcopenia was associated with worse progression-free survival (PFs) and overall survival (os) in our cohort [HR 0.97 (p = 0.01)] [HR 0.73 (p = 0.001)], as well as anemia [HR 0.73 (p = 0.001)] [HR 0.78 (p = 0.001)]. Linear regression models indicated that despite showing no association with age, neutrophil or platelet counts, sarcopenia was associated with pretreatment anemia levels (p = 0.01). After a multivariate analysis, only haemoglobin (anemia) and complete CCRT remained associated with PFs and os. sarcopenia and anemia were associated with worse PFs and os in FIGo stage I/II. Conclusion: Pretreatment sarcopenia was significantly associated with low haemoglobin levels. Anemia and incomplete CCRT were independently associated with poor prognosis in women with CC. Pretreatment sarcopenia, as low sMI, was a predictor of poor prognostic in early stages of CC.

The decrease in species richness toward higher latitudes is an expected biogeographical *** pattern could be related to particular envi-ronmental constraints and the evolutionary history of ***,species richness does not fully represent the evolutionary history of the clades behind their *** diversity better clarifies the role of historical factors in biogeographical *** analyzed envi-ronmental and historical drivers related to latitudinal variation in species richness and phylogenetic diversity of Atlantic Forest endemic *** implemented species distribution models,from voucherbased locality points,to map the snake ranges and *** used generalized additive mixed models to evaluate the relationships among the diversity metrics and area,topographical roughness,and past climate change velocity since the Last Maximum Glacial in the Atlantic Forest latitudinal *** to the expected general pattern,species richness was higher toward higher latitudes,being positively related to past climatic *** richness also increased with total area and higher topographical *** diversity,on the other hand,showed opposite relationships related to the same *** diversity increased with lower climatic stability in lower ***,dimensions of diversity were affected in different ways by historical and environmental constraints in this unique and threatened biodiversity hotspot.

Landslides are highly dangerous phenomena that occur in different parts of the world and pose significant threats to human populations. Intense rainfall events are the main triggering process for landslides in urbanized slope regions, especially those considered high-risk areas. Various other factors contribute to the process;thus, it is essential to analyze the causes of such incidents in all possible ways. soil moisture plays a critical role in the Earth’s surface-atmosphere interaction systems;hence, measurements and their estimations are crucial for understanding all processes involved in the water balance, especially those related to landslides. soil moisture can be estimated from in-situ measurements using different sensors and techniques, satellite remote sensing, hydrological modeling, and indicators to index moisture conditions. Antecedent soil moisture can significantly impact runoff for the same rainfall event in a watershed. The Antecedent Precipitation Index (API) or “retained rainfall,” along with the antecedent moisture condition from the Natural Resources Conservation service, is generally applied to estimate runoff in watersheds where data is limited or unavailable. This work aims to explore API in estimating soil moisture and establish thresholds based on landslide occurrences. The estimated soil moisture will be compared and calibrated using measurements obtained through multisensor capacitance probes installed in a high-risk area located in the mountainous region of Campos do jordão municipality, são paulo, Brazil. The API used in the calculation has been modified, where the recession coefficient depends on air temperature variability as well as the climatological mean temperature, which can be considered as losses in the water balance due to evapotranspiration. once the API is calibrated, it will be used to extrapolate to the entire watershed and consequently estimate soil moisture. Biliary tract reconstruction using jejunal tube:an experimental study in dogs

Aim:to analyze the significance of RTI Tier 2 metaphonological and alphabetic principle program for Brazilian schoolchildren at risk for ***:a bibliographic review was carried out in the scielo and Pubmed databases using the descriptors“intervention studies”,“reading”,“dyslexia”,and“learning”in Portuguese and English for the elaboration of RTI Tier 2 metaphonological and alphabetic principle program for schoolchildren at risk for *** program was designed based on the selection of strategies for metaphonological skills,knowledge of the alphabet,and grapheme-phoneme correspondence described in national and international *** stimuli(real words)and visual stimuli(pictures)were selected to be used in the intervention program *** stimuli were selected from a word bank according to length,regularity,and *** intervention program designed was composed of the following skills:letter-sound knowledge,syllable knowledge,syllabic segmentation,phonemic segmentation,syllabic addition,phonemic addition,syllabic subtraction,phonemic subtraction,syllabic substitution,phonemic substitution,syllabic combination,and phonemic *** program was structured with collective strategies and was applied in small groups of four to five schoolchildren aged six years and 11 months to seven years and 11 months in 50-minute ***:The results revealed that there was a change in the response pattern,showing better performance in the skills of the Early Identification of Reading Problems Protocol,demonstrating significance and positive change in post-testing situations when compared to ***:the program developed in this study proved to be effective and,in this way,it can be used as an intervention instrument based on scientific evidence that helps in the acquisition of skills necessary for the development of reading.

A measure of ionospheric irregularities:zonal velocity and its implications for L-band scintillation at low-latitudes

We estimate the zonal drift velocity of small-scale ionospheric irregularities at low latitude by leveraging the spaced-receivers technique applied to two GNss receivers for scintillation monitoring installed along the magnetic parallel passing in Presidente Prudente(Brazil,magnetic latitude 12.8°s).The investigated ionospheric sector is ideal to study small-scale irregularities,being located close to the expected position of the southern crest of the equatorial ionospheric *** measurement campaign took place between september 2013 and February 2014,*** and summer solstice seasons under solar maximum,during which the probability of formation of small-scale irregularities is expected to *** found that the hourly average of the velocity increases up to 135 m/s right after the local sunset at ionospheric altitudes and then smoothly decreases in the next *** measurements are in agreement with independent estimations of the velocity made by the Incoherent scatter Radar located at the jicamarca Radio observatory(magnetic latitude 0.1°N),by the Boa Vista Ionosonde(magnetic latitude 12.0°N),and by applying a recently-developed empirical regional short-term forecasting ***,we investigated the relationship with the percentage occurrence of amplitude scintillation;we report that it is exponentially dependent on the zonal velocity of the irregularities that cause it.

Hybridization despite elaborate courtship behavior and female choice in Neotropical tree frogs

New Interpretation of Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation

Elliptical motions of orbital bodies are treated here using Fourier series, Fortescue sequence components and Clarke’s instantaneous space vectors, quantities largely employed on electrical power systems analyses. Using this methodology, which evidences the analogy between orbital systems and autonomous second-order electrical systems, a new theory is presented in this article, in which it is demonstrated that Newton’s gravitational fields can also be treated as a composition of Hook’s elastic type fields, using the superposition principle. In fact, there is an identity between the equations of both laws. Furthermore, an energy analysis is conducted, and new concepts of power are introduced, which can help a better understanding of the physical mechanism of these quantities on both mechanical and electrical systems. The author believes that, as a practical consequence, elastic type gravitational fields can be artificially produced with modern engineering technologies, leading to possible satellites navigation techniques, with less dependency of external sources of energy and, even, new forms of energy sources for general purposes. This reinterpretation of orbital mechanics may also be complementary to conventional study, with implications for other theories such as relativistic, quantum, string theory and others.

This study aimed to evaluate the features related to consumers’ reading nutritional labels in a city in the interior of the são paulo state, Brazil. A questionnaire was answered by 100 consumers of a supermarket chain, sociodemographic information and data related to label reading habits were collected. Tables with percentage values and bar graphs were used. Chi-square tests and logistic regression models were performed to verify the association between the variables and the label reading habits. The factors that showed significant associations with the reading labels were gender, ease to understand the labels and access to their information (p 0.10). People who had already read labels reported to have more difficulty to understand the information contained on them, and people who had already received instructions on the labels were three and a half times more likely to read the instructions contained on them than those who hadn’t received any guidance. This study points to the need to expand the disclosure to consumers about the contents present on the labels, through more accessible language, so that the labels fulfill their role to instruct consumers in their choices.
