Visual analytics has been widely studied in the past decade. One key to make visual analytics practical for both research and industrial applications is the appropriate definition and implementation of the visual analytics pipeline which provides effective abstractions for designing and implementing visual analytics systems. In this paper we review the previous work on visual analytics pipelines and individual modules from multiple perspectives： data, visualization, model and knowledge. In each module we discuss various representations and descriptions of pipelines inside the module, and compare the commonalities and the differences among them.

This paper proposes a multi-material topology optimization method based on the hybrid reliability of the probability-ellipsoid model with stress constraint for the stochastic uncertainty and epistemic uncertainty of mechanical loads in optimization *** probabilistic model is combined with the ellipsoidal model to describe the uncertainty of mechanical *** topology optimization formula is combined with the ordered solid isotropic material with penalization(ordered-SIMP)multi-material interpolation *** stresses of all elements are integrated into a global stress measurement that approximates the maximum stress using the normalized p-norm ***,the sequential optimization and reliability assessment(SORA)is applied to transform the original uncertainty optimization problem into an equivalent deterministic topology optimization(DTO)*** response surface and sparse grid technique are combined with SORA to get accurate information on the most probable failure point(MPP).In each cycle,the equivalent topology optimization formula is updated according to the MPP information obtained in the previous *** adjoint variable method is used for deriving the sensitivity of the stress constraint and the moving asymptote method(MMA)is used to update design ***,the validity and feasibility of the method are verified by the numerical example of L-shape beam design,T-shape structure design,steering knuckle,and 3D T-shaped beam.

Applying a salinity response function and zoning saline land for three fi eld crops: a case study in the Hetao Irrigation District, Inner Mongolia, China

Salinity is one of the major abiotic factors affecting the growth and productivity of crops in Hetao Irrigation District, China. In this study, the salinity tolerances of three local crops, wheat （Triticum aestinum L.）, maize （Zea mays L.） and sunflower （Helianthus annuus L.）, growing in 76 farm fields are evaluated with modified discount function. Salinity ecological zones appropriate for these local crops are characterized and a case study is presented for crop salinity ecological zoning. The results show that the yield reductions of wheat, maize and sunflower when grown in saline soils are attributed primarily to a reduction in spikelet number, 1 000-grain weight and seed number per head, respectively. Sunflower is the most tolerant crop among the three which had a salinity tolerance index （ST-index） of 12.24, followed by spring maize and spring wheat with ST-Indices of 9.00 and 7.43, respectively. According to the crop salinity tolerance results, the arable land in the Heping Village of this district was subdivided into four salinity ecological zones： the most suitable, suitable, sub-suitable and unsuitable zones. The area proportion of the most suitable zone for wheat, maize and sunflower within the Heping Village was 27.5, 46.5 and 77.5%, respectively. Most of the most suitable zone occurred in the western part of the village. The results of this study provide the scientific basis for optimizing the local major crop distribution and improving cultural practices management in Hetao Irrigation District.

The interannual variability of cross-equatorial flows(CEFs)over the Asian–Australian monsoon(AAM)region during boreal summer was analyzed by applying the empirical orthogonal function(EOF)method to the meridional wind at 925 h *** first mode(EOF1)exhibits an in-phase relationship among different CEF channels over the AAM region,which has received much attention owing to its tight linkage with *** contrast,the second mode(EOF2)possesses an out-of-phase relationship between the Bay of Bengal(BOB)CEF(90°E)and Australian CEF,among which the New Guinea CEF near 150°E shows the most significant opposite correlation with the BOB *** and numerical model results suggest that the equatorially asymmetric heat source(sink)over the western(eastern)Maritime Continent,closely associated with the in-situ sea surface temperature anomaly,can induce cross-equatorial northerly(southerly)flow into the heating hemisphere,which dominates the out-of-phase relationship between the BOB and New Guinea ***,an equatorially symmetric heating over the central Pacific may indirectly change the CEFs by modulating the zonal atmospheric circulation near the Maritime Continent.

Aggregate thermostatically controlled loads(AT-CLs)are a suitable candidate for power imbalance on demand side to smooth the power fluctuation of renewable energy.A new control scheme based on an improved bilinear aggregate model of ATCLs is investigated to suppress power ***,the original bilinear aggregate model of ATCLs is extended by the second-order equivalent thermal parameter model to optimize accumulative error over a long time ***,to ensure the control performance of tracking error,an improved model predictive control algorithm is proposed by integrating the Lyapunov function with the error transformation,and theoretical stability of the proposed control algorithm is ***,the simulation results demonstrate that the accuracy of the improved bilinear aggregate model is enhanced;the proposed control algorithm has faster convergence speed and better tracking accuracy in contrast with the Lyapunov function-based model predictive control without the prescribed performance.

This paper focuses on the vector traffic network equilibrium problem with demands uncertainty and capacity constraints of arcs, in which, the demands are not exactly known and assumed as a discrete set that contains finite scenarios. For different scenario, the demand may be changed, which seems much more reasonable in practical programming. By using the linear scalarization method,we introduce several definitions of parametric equilibrium flows and reveal their mutual relations. Meanwhile, the relationships between the scalar variational inequality as well as the(weak) vector equilibrium flows are explored, meanwhile, some necessary and sufficient conditions that ensure the(weak) vector equilibrium flows are also considered. Additionally, by means of nonlinear scalarization functionals, two kinds of equilibrium principles are derived. All of the derived conclusions contain the demands uncertainty and capacity constraints of arcs, thus the results proposed in this paper improved some existing works. Finally, some numerical examples are employed to show the merits of the improved conclusions.

We propose a video image mosaic method based on multi-module cooperation. This method stitches the video into a panorama with a large field of view, divided into three modules: the key frame selection module, the image mosaic module, and the optimization module. The key frame selection module obtains key frames by comprehensively evaluating the overlap rate and image quality. The image mosaic module stitches the key frames into a panoramic image to generate an initial mosaic result. The optimization module makes the mosaic result more natural and eliminates ghosts by using object detection advantages. Our method is tested on videos taken in real scenes, and the results have a more comprehensive and natural description.

In this paper, a new preference multi-objective optimization algorithm called immune clone algorithm based on reference direction method （RD-ICA） is proposed for solving many-objective optimization problems. First, an intelligent recombination operator, which performs well on the functions comprising many parameters, is introduced into an immune clone algorithm so as to explore the potentially excellent gene segments of all individuals in the antibody pop- ulation. Second, a reference direction method, a very strict ranking based on the desire of decision makers （DMs）, is used to guide selection and clone of the active population. Then a light beam search （LBS） is borrowed to pick out a small set of individuals filling the external population. The proposed method has been extensively compared with other recently proposed evolutionary multi-objective optimization （EMO） approaches over DTLZ problems with from 4 to 100 objectives. Experimental results indicate RD-ICA can achieve competitive results.

Impact of Assimilating Radiances with the WRFDA ETKF/3DVAR Hybrid system on Prediction of Two Typhoons in 2012

The impacts of AMSU-A and IASI（Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer） radiances assimilation on the prediction of typhoons Vicente and Saola（2012） are studied by using the ensemble transform Kalman filter/three-dimensional variational（ETKF/3DVAR） Hybrid system for the Weather research and Forecasting（WRF） model. The experiment without assimilating radiance data in 3DVAR is compared with two experiments using the 3DVAR and ETKF/3DVAR hybrid systems to assimilate AMSU-A radiance,respectively. The results show that AMSU-A radiance data have slight positive impacts on track forecasts of the 3DVAR system. When the ETKF/3DVAR hybrid system is employed, typhoon track forecast skills are greatly improved. For 36-h forecasts, the hybrid system has a lower root-mean-square error for wind and temperature at most levels, and specific humidity at low levels, compared to 3DVAR. It is also found that, on average, the use of the IASI radiance data along with AMSU-A radiance data in the hybrid system further increases the track, wind, and specific humidity forecast accuracy compared to the experiment without IASI radiance assimilation.
