Membrane tension evolution and mechanical regulation of melittin-induced membrane poration

Membrane tension plays a crucial role in various fundamental cellular processes,with one notable example being the T cell-mediated elimination of tumor cells through perforin-induced membrane perforation by amplifying cellular ***,the mechanisms governing the regulation of biomolecular activities at the cell interface by membrane tension remain *** this study,we investigated the correlation between membrane tension and poration activity of melittin,a prototypical pore-forming peptide,using dynamic giant unilamellar vesicle leakage assays combined with flickering tension analysis,molecular dynamics simulations,and live cell *** results demonstrate that an increase in membrane tension enhances the activity of melittin,particularly near its critical pore-forming ***,peptide actions such as binding,insertion,and aggregation in the membrane further influence the evolution of membrane *** cell experiments reveal that artificially enhancing membrane tension effectively enhances melittin’s ability to induce pore formation and disrupt membranes,resulting in up to a ten-fold increase in A549 cell mortality when exposed to a concentration of 2.0-μg·mL^(-1)*** findings elucidate the relationship between membrane tension and the mechanism of action as well as pore-forming efficiency of melittin,while providing a practical mechanical approach for regulating functional activity of molecules at the cell-membrane interface.

This research paper provides valuable insight into the electronic,mechanical and transport properties of the Sr_(2)RuO_(2)F_(2)*** study shows that the Sr_(2)RuO_(4)compound exhibits a metallic ground state and that the energy gap widens with oxygen substitution with *** concept of absolute deformation potential and its correlation with band energies and strains is explained using deformation potential *** paper also examines the mechanical features of Sr_(2)RuO_(2)F_(2)using the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation method and analyzes its elastic constants,bulk modulus and shear modulus,indicating flexibility and suitability for optoelectronic *** role of acoustic phonons in scattering rates and carrier mobility in Sr_(2)RuO_(2)F_(2)and its potential for phonon-mediated superconductivity is *** intrinsic resistivity of electrons and holes under strain and its potential impact on superconductivity and electrical resistivity are also *** insight provided by this study contributes to the current understanding of Sr_(2)RuO_(2)F_(2),and its potential applications.

Two-dimensional(2D)metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are rapidly emerging as a unique class of mushrooming family of 2D materials offering distinctive features,such as hierarchical porosity,extensive surface area,easily available active sites,and versatile,adaptable *** promising characteristics have positioned them as highly appealing alternatives for a wide range of applications in energy storage technologies,including lithium ***,the poor conductivity and limited stability of 2D MOFs have limited their real applications in electrochemical energy *** limitations have therefore warranted ongoing research to enhance the performance of 2D *** the significance of 2D MOF-based materials as an emerging class of advanced materials,a multitude of strategy has been devised to address these challenges such as synthesizing 2D conductive MOFs and derivatives along with 2D MOF *** promising approach involves the use of 2D MOF derivatives,including transition metal oxides,which due to their abundant unsatu rated active metal sites and shorter diffusion paths,offer superior electrochemical ***,by combining pristine 2D MOFs with other materials,hybrid 2D MOF materials can be *** hybrids,with their enhanced stability and conductivity,can be directly utilized as active materials in lithium *** the present review,we categorize 2D MOF-based materials into three distinct groups:pristine 2D MOFs,2D MOFderived materials,and 2D MOF hybrid *** synthesis methods for each group,along with their specific applications as electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries,are discussed in *** comprehensive review provides insights into the potential of 2D MOFs while highlighting the opportunities and challenges that are present in this evolving field.

Observation of parabolic electron bands on superconductor LaRu2As2

Ru-based superconductor LaRu2As2has been discovered exhibiting the highest critical temperature of ～ 7.8 K among iron-free transition metal pnictides with the ThCr2Si2-type crystal structure. However, microscopic research on this novel superconducting material is still lacking. Here, we utilize scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy to uncover the superconductivity and surface structure of LaRu2As2. Two distinct terminating surfaces are identified on the cleaved crystals, namely, the As surface and the La surface. Atomic missing line defects are observed on the La surface. Both surfaces exhibit a superconducting gap of ～ 1.0 me V. By employing quasiparticle interference techniques, we observe standing wave patterns near the line defects on the La atomic plane. These patterns are attributed to quasiparticle scattering from two electron type parabolic bands.

Based on the elementary band representations(EBR),many topologically trivial materials are classified as unconventional ones(obstructed atomic limit),where the EBR decomposition for a set of electronic states is not consistent with atomic valenceelectron band *** the work,we identify that the unconventional nature can also exist in phonon spectra,where the EBR decomposition for a set of well-separated phonon modes is not consistent with atomic vibration band representations(ABR).The unconventionality has two types:typeⅠis on an empty site;and typeⅡis on an atom site with non-atomic vibration *** unconventionality is described by the nonzero real-space invariant at the *** detailed calculations show that the black phosphorus(BP)has the typeⅠunconventional phonon spectrum,while 1H-Mo Se_(2)has the typeⅡone,although their electronic structures are also ***,the obstructed phonon modes are obtained for two types of unconventional phonon spectra.

Design and fabrication of Nd-Fe-B magnet with excellent thermal stability

A novel Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet with excellent thermal stability was designed by Co replacing Fe in the main phase and the grain boundary *** remanence and coercivity temperature coefficient reach 0.058%/℃and 0.465%/℃in the te mperature range from 25 to 100℃,which are much lower than those of commercial Nd-Fe-B *** enhanced Curie temperature is obtained for the novel magnet due to the Co substitution,which significantly improves the operating *** microstructure result reveals that an amorphous phase exists in the intergranular grains which is probably responsible for the deterioration of intrinsic *** work can provide a reference for the design and optimization of components of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with excellent thermal stability.

Following the recent report by Dasenbrock-Gammon et al.[Nature 615,244–250(2023)]of near-ambient superconductivity in nitrogendoped lutetium trihydride(LuH_(3-δ)N_(ε)),significant debate has emerged surrounding the composition and interpretation of the observed sharp resistance ***,we meticulously revisit these claims through comprehensive characterization and *** definitively identify the reported material as lutetium dihydride(LuH_(2)),resolving the ambiguity surrounding its *** similar conditions(270–295 K and 1–2 GPa),we replicate the reported sharp decrease in electrical resistance with a 30%success rate,aligning with the observations by Dasenbrock-Gammon et ***,our extensive investigations reveal this phenomenon to be a novel pressure-induced metal-to-metal transition intrinsic to LuH_(2),distinct from ***,nitrogen doping exerts minimal impact on this *** work not only elucidates the fundamental properties of LuH_(2)andLuH_(3),but also critically challenges the notion of superconductivity in these lutetium hydride *** findings pave the way for future research on lutetium hydride systems,while emphasizing the crucial importance of rigorous verification in claims of ambient-temperature superconductivity.

We have applied strong coupling unitary transformation method combined with Bose–Einstein statistical law to investigate magnetopolaron energy level temperature effects in halogen ion crystal quantum *** obtained results showed that under magnetic field effect,magnetopolaron quasiparticle was formed through the interaction of electrons and surrounding *** the same time,magnetopolaron was influenced by phonon temperature statistical law and important energy level shifts down and binding energy *** revealed that lattice temperature and magnetic field could easily affect magnetopolaron and the above results could play key roles in exploring thermoelectric conversion and conductivity of crystal materials.

Recently,lipid nanoparticles(LNPs)have been extensively investigated as non-viral carriers of nucleic acid vaccines due to their high transport efficiency,safety,and straightforward production and ***,the molecular mechanism underlying the interactions between nucleic acids and phospholipid bilayers within LNPs remains *** this study,we employed the all-atom molecular dynamics simulation to investigate the interactions between single-stranded nucleic acids and a phospholipid *** findings revealed that hydrophilic bases,specifically G in single-stranded RNA(ssRNA)and single-stranded DNA(ssDNA),displayed a higher propensity to form hydrogen bonds with phospholipid head ***,ssRNA exhibited stronger binding energy than ***,divalent ions,particularly Ca2+,facilitated the binding of ssRNA to phospholipids due to their higher binding energy and lower dissociation rate from ***,our study provides valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying nucleic acidphospholipid interactions,with potential implications for the nucleic acids in biotherapies,particularly in the context of lipid carriers.
