Status of ocular trauma in hospitalized patients in Kashan, 2011： As a sample of industrial city

Purpose： Ocular trauma is the third leading cause of hospitalization in ophthalmology patients, imposing direct and indirect physical and psychological costs on society. This study aims to investigate the status of ocular trauma in hospitalized patients in the industrialized city of Kashan in 2011. Methods： This cross-sectional descriptive applied study was conducted in 2012 on patients hospitalized for ocular trauma. Data, including age, gender, occupation, education, timing of admission following accident, location of accident, type of injury, damaging instrument, and type of trauma, were collected using a questionnaire designed by a trained nurse, and analyzed using SPSS-lfi software by means of means _＋ standard deviation, frequency, and percentage for descriptive data and t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Chi-square and Fisher exact test for analysis at significance level ofp 〈 0.05. Results： In total, 82 patients were hospitalized due to ocular traumas. The majority of patients were male （65 patients, 79.3%）. Their mean age was （25.4 ± 21.4） years, with an age range of 20-40 years （30 patients, 36.6%）. Hyphema was the most common injury （26 patients, 25.5%）, home was the most frequent incident location （32 patients, 39%）, and knife or other cutting tools were mostly responsible for injuries （18 patients, 21.9%）. Patients were hospitalized for 1-6 days, and the average length of stay in hospital was 2.63 days. Frequency distribution of injuries based on whether or not ruptures differed significantly among different age groups. Conclusion： The majority of ocular trauma occurred in young males. Knife was the principle culprit for eye injuries, followed by vehicles. To reduce such incidents, it is recommended that people be trained to avoid high-risk behaviors when using knives and to better heed driving rules and regulations.

Objectives:The present study was conducted to evaluate the clinical competence and its related demographic factors among critical care nurses in Kermanshah,***:In this cross-sectional study,155 Iranian nurses were selected by stratified random *** data collection tools included a personal information form and the"nurse Competence Scale".Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical ***:The mean score of nurses'clinical competence was equal to 76.14±1.59 out of 100,which was at a"very good level".The mean score of using clinical competence in practice was equal to 70.38±15.25 out of 100,which was at a"good level".Among the subscales of clinical competence,the highest mean score was related to"managing situation".The mean score of"using clinical competence in practice"was related to the subscale of"therapeutic interventions".There was no statistically significant difference among the score of clinical competence of nurses varying with different gender,age,academic degree,and work ***:The clinical competence of critical care nurses in Kermanshah was at a"very good"level,and the use of clinical competence in practice was at a"good level."Given the importance of clinical competencies in practice,nurses'clinical competence should be evaluated objectively and positive measures should be taken to promote the application of their clinical competence.

Thymic nurse cells （TNCs） represent a unique microenvironment in the thymus for T cell maturation. In order to investigate the role of thymic nurse cells during T cell differentiation, a TNC clone, RWTE-1, which formed a typical complex with fetal thymocytes in vitro was established from normal Wistar rat. Hanging drop culture method was applied to reveal the interaction between TNCs and thymocytes. Our result revealed that eighty percent of immature CD4^-CD8^＋ cells differentiated into CD4^＋CD8^＋ cells after a 12-hour hanging drop culture with RWTE-1. However, in a 12-hour culture of immature CD4^-CD8^＋ cells with or without RWTE-1 supernatant, only 30% of the cells differentiated into CD4^＋CD8^＋ cells spontaneously. This observation led to the conclusion that RWTE-1 cell has the capacity to facilitate immature CD4^-CD8^＋ thymocytes to differentiate into CD4^＋CD8^＋ T cells by direct interaction.

Interstitial Cajal-like cells are a distinct type of interstitial cell with a wide distribution in mammalian organs and tissues,and have been given the name"telocytes".Recent studies have demonstrated the potential roles of telocytes in heart development,renewal,and ***,further research on the functions of telocytes is limited by the complicated in vivo *** study was designed to construct engineered heart tissue(EHT)as a three-dimensional model in vitro to better understand the role of telocytes in the architectural organization of the *** were constructed by seeding neonatal cardiomyocytes in collagen/Matrigel scaffolds followed by culture under persistent static *** in EHTs were identified by histology,toluidine blue staining,immunofluorescence,and transmission electron *** results from histology and toluidine blue staining demonstrated widespread putative telocytes with compact toluidine blue-stained nuclei,which were located around *** from the cell bodies showed a characteristic dichotomous branching pattern and formed networks in *** revealed positive staining of telocytes for CD34 and vimentin with typical moniliform prolongations.A series of electron microscopy images further showed that typical telocytes embraced the cardiomyocytes with their long prolongations and exhibited a marked appearance of nursing cardiomyocytes during the construction of *** finding highlights the great importance of telocytes in the architectural organization of *** also suggests that EHT is an appropriate physical and pathological model system in vitro to study the roles of telocytes during heart development and regeneration.

Objective: Nursing profession conventionally meets a high standard of ethical behavior and action. One of the ethical challenges in nursing profession is moral distress. nurses frequently expose to this phenomenon which leads to different consequences such as being bored by delivering patient care that decline care quality and make it challenging to achieve health purposes. This study was conducted to investigate the association between the aspects of moral distress and care ***: In this descriptive–analytical study, 545 nurses of intensive and cardiac care units and dialysis and psychiatric wards were recruited by census sampling. Three questionnaires, Sociodemographics, Moral Distress Scale, and Quality Patient Care Scale, were distributed among the participants and collected within 9 months. Data analysis was conducted by descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and the least significant difference in SPSS ***: Investigating moral distress domains(ignoring patient, decision-making power, and professional competence) and care quality domains(psychosocial, physical, and communicational) demonstrated that in being exposed to moral distress, ignoring patient had no effect on psychosocial domain(P=0.056), but decision-making and professional competence of moral distress had positive effect on psychosocial, physical(bodily), and communication domains of care ***: Because moral distress domains are effective on patient care quality, it is recommended to enhance the knowledge of nurses, especially beginners, about moral distress, increase their strength alongside standardizing nursing services in decisionmaking domains, improve the professional competence, and pay attention to patients.

Health professionals and mainly nurses must be kept updated on context conditions where populations they have in charge, since this is the only way to maintain communication with those vulnerable groups avoiding barriers, there are topics of difficult approach such as the use and abuse of substances in adolescents, and currently adolescents communicate through social networks. We aimed to determine the influence of social networks as a pedagogic strategy in adolescents’ health education. Method: Qualitative and descriptive study with phenomenological design. Fifteen informants from nursing career participated, and selected by convenience. Data collection was through a semi-structured interview composed of 5 questions directed to informants, regarding their experience to make an informative video about use and abuse in adolescents;questions were about their experiences, found difficulties and any other element related with the making of the video, its spread, the login and acceptance that the audiovisual material had in social networks by students and the management of information with preventive goals. All final products were incorporated to a link where group members, as well as the student community, could revise the video and make comments, maintain a chat with others, and so on, a dynamic session of presentations on questions and comments was done. An informed consent was signed. Collected qualitative data were analyzed according to De Souza Minayo. Results: Three categories emerged with nine sub-categories, Category 1: Influence of social networks on students, sub-categories: 1.1) Perception about addictions, 1.2) Expectation on attention to addictions, 1.3) As educational strategy. Objectives: Changing the culture in nursing homes in South Korea comes with challenges,and the key issues of resident-centered care have been *** study aims to describe health personnel's experience in providing resident-centered care in nursing ***: Qualitative data were collected through individual and focus group interviews consisting of registered nurses (n =4),certified nurse assistants (n =2),and long-term caregivers (n =12) working at nursing homes in South *** participants (n-18) completed the interviews from May to June 2018,and all interviews were recorded,transcribed,and analyzed by employing the content analysis ***: Five main categories are conceptualized: (1) residents' participation in decision making,(2) the sharing of the history and story of residents,(3) the recognition of facility-or task-based attitudes,(4) the guarantee of private time and space for residents,and (5) the need for standardized ***: Results corroborate that health personnel regard resident-centered care as a desirable nursing ***,facility-or task-centered care is the most effective in hectic situations.A standardized protocol on the application of resident-centered care based on the facility-tailored specification is ***,health personnel's perception and practice of resident-centered care can *** nursing intervention programs should be developed after clarifying facility culture.

Exercise-based real-time telerehabilitation for older patients recently discharged after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: An extended feasibility study

OBJECTIVES To assess the extended feasibility of a telerehabilitation program and its effects on physical performance in older adults who have recently undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation(TAVI).METHODS In this single-center feasibility study, patients underwent an eight-week telerehabilitation program, involving webbased home exercise training twice weekly, an activity tracker, access to an informative website, and one online session with a nurse, starting one-week postoperative. Data collection was performed before surgery and three months postoperative. The feasibility of the intervention was based on recruitment and adherence to the program. As a secondary outcome, we evaluated the change in six-minute walk distance from before surgery to three months *** Forty-one patients scheduled for TAVI were assessed for eligibility;15 patients(37%) were enrolled. Of these, eight were excluded after surgery due to tiredness(n = 2), non-cardiac related hospital readmission(n = 2), fluctuating health(n = 1),death during hospital stay(n = 1), and reduced cognition(n = 2). Seven patients completed the eight-week web-based intervention and were evaluated three months postoperative. Their median(IQR) age was 83 [81, 87] years, and the sample comprised three men and four women. Their walked distance improved from median(IQR) 262 [199, 463] before surgery, to 381 [267, 521]meters three months postoperative. No adverse events were *** Web-based telerehabilitation, including supervised exercise training, in older adults who have recently undergone TAVI was feasible for a small number of patients who completed the eight-week intervention. This was reflected in an improvement in their walked distance three months after the surgery. However, the low recruitment and retention rates do question the overall feasibility of this intervention in a frail, older population of post-TAVI patients.
