Biosynthesized CS-MgO/zeolite hybrid material:An efficient adsorbent for chlorpyrifos removal-Kinetic studies and response surface methodology

The prevalence of organophosphate pesticides in aquatic environments raises severe concerns on a global ***,an insecticide,is included in a class of organophosphate *** is widely used on agricultural lands to control pests in cotton,fruit,and *** acute toxicity of chlorpyrifos is still dangerous to all aquatic living *** the treatment of water contaminated with chlorpyrifos is an important *** recent decade has witnessed adsorption technology emerging as an advanced organophosphate pesticide wastewater treatment with great potential and a grand blueprint,in which the specific surface area and active sites of the adsorbent are considered to be the two most important characteristics largely impacting the adsorption *** this study,a CS-MgO/Zeolite composite was prepared by the microbial method as an effective adsorbent for the removal of chlorpyrifos from an aqueous *** adsorbent's properties were carefully characterized using Xray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and Fourier-transform infrared *** refinement of experimental conditions,encompassing variations in adsorbent dosage,contact time,and chlorpyrifos concentration at five discrete levels,was systematically undertaken through the utilization of a composite central design rooted in response surface *** solution pH played a key role in chlorpyrifos removal,and a pH of 7.0 was selected according to its high adsorption *** highest removal(80.9%)of chlorpyrifos by CS-MgO/Zeolite was obtained at an optimum pH of 7,a contact time of 40 min,an adsorbent dosage of 0.4 g/L,and a chlorpyrifos concentration of 5 mg/L^(-1).The adsorption results were highly fitted with the Freundlich adsorption isotherm model,and the maximum adsorption was 83.3 mg/*** studies indicate that the removal of chlorpyrifos followed the pseudo-secondorder model of adsorption(0.994).The thermodynamic parameters indicate the sponta

Effective removal of emerging contaminants(ECs)to minimize their impacts on human health and the natural environment is a global *** the removal of ECs in water,we fabricated a seaweed spherical microsphere catalyst with Cu cation-πstructures by in situ doping of Cu species and ascorbic acid in mesoporous silica(Cu-C-MSNs)via a hydrothermal *** results indicate that bisphenol A(BPA)is substantially degraded within 5 min under natural conditions,with its biological toxicity considerably ***,industrial wastewater could also be effectively purified by Cu-C-MSNs/H_(2)O_(2) *** presence of metal sites and the complexation of ECs via cation-πinteraction andπ-πstacking on the catalyst surface were directly responsible for the polarization distribution of electrons,thus activating H_(2)O_(2) and dissolved oxygen(DO).The removal of contaminants could be attributed primarily to 1)the activation of H_(2)O_(2) into ^(·)OH to attack the contaminants and 2)self-cleavage because of the transfer of electrons from the contaminants to the *** study provides an innovative solution for the effective treatment of ECs and has positive implications for easing global environmental crises.

Highly active copper-intercalated weakly crystallized δ-MnO_(2) for low-temperature oxidation of CO in dry and humid air

Integrated Analysis of water quality in Artificial Fishponds Using WQI and GIS in South-East Sierra Leone

Artificial fishponds play a pivotal role in global aquaculture, serving as a source of livelihood and nourishment for many communities. Ensuring the sustained health and productivity of Fishes in these environments relies heavily on water quality management. This assessment was done to determine the water quality of ten artificial fishponds in the south-eastern part of Sierra Leone using twelve physicochemical factors (pH, BOD, EC, TDS, turbidity, COD, Fe2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, NH3, , and alkalinity) to find out the water quality Index (WQI) and spatial distribution of respective parameters. The assessment of artificial fishponds using WQI and Inverse Distant Weighting (IDW) integration represents a relatively underexplored area within the domain of environmental water resources. The WQI was determined using the “Weighted Arithmetic water quality Index’’ method. The results of WQI in the study area range from 65.05 to 147.26. Several locations have water quality deemed unsuitable for consumption, while others range from good to very poor. It is essential to address and improve water quality in locations categorized as unsuitable for consumption and very poor to ensure safe and healthy water sources. It was also clear from the calculation that the smaller the mean concentration value of the pH as compared to the ideal value (7), the smaller the WQI value and the better the water quality. To keep the artificial fishpond water in good condition, mass domestic use should be controlled, and draining of surrounding organic matter should be stopped in ponds Bo_001, Kenema_001, and Kenema_002.

Ni-Cu bimetallic alloy anchored on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes for CO_(2)-to-CH_(4) electrochemical conversion

Electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction to CH_(4) remains challenging due to multi-electron transfer and intermediates ***,we synthesized electrocatalysts by growing Ni-Cu alloy structure on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(NixCuy-NCNT)for electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)via hydrothermal method followed by *** optimized Ni_(1)Cu_(1)-NCNT demonstrated a superior CO_(2)RR performance,achieving 99.7%FECH_(4)(FE=Faradaic efficiency)and 11.54 mA·cm^(−2) current density at−1.2 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which outperformed single metal *** outstanding performance was due to the electrons transferred from Cu to Ni and Ni-Cu alloy shifted the d-band center toward the Fermi level,which was more conducive to the intermediate *** situ electrochemical attenuated total reflection(EC-ATR)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed the appearance of *CHO intermediate and the pathway during the CO_(2)RR *** design of the bimetallic electrocatalyst in this study provides a new perspective for the highly selective reduction of CO_(2).

A high Li-ion diffusion kinetics in multidimensional and compact-structured electrodes via vacuum filtration casting
