Identification of weathered troughs in granites for tunneling at Daya Bay reactor-neutrino experiment site

Weathered troughs are frequently encountered in granites. They can cause problems to tunneling in the rocks and have to be properly addressed. The structures or spatial shapes of weathered troughs were seldom clarified in the past. In this paper, four weathered troughs are identified by means of geophysical exploration, core drilling, logging, and in-situ stress measurement at Daya Bay reactor-neutrino experiment site in Shenzhen, China. The weathered troughs are exposed on the ground or partially covered by grass and soils, which will threaten the safety of horizontal tunneling at a shallow depth. High electrical resistivity （HER） method is adopted for its feasibility and practicality, in combination with field geological observation, ultrasonic televiewer in boreholes and in-situ stress measurement. By comparing the HER values of completely decomposed to fresh rocks, it is indicated that the HER values of weathered troughs in natural state are 0.4-100 D.m, and the in-situ stress is abnormally lower than those at upper and lower layers. Field investigations show that the depths of the four weathered troughs are 30-182 m, with bottom elevation over 10 m. The volume of each weathered trough is mostly over lx l 0^6 m3 in inverted conic form. The weathered troughs often occur in various kinds of landforms, such as ridges, gullies or gently dipping dish-like depression areas. Faults and boundaries of different granitic plutons as well as joints govern the formation, locations and strikes of these troughs under development.

A Process to Support Analysts in Exploring and Selecting Content from Online Forums

The public content increasingly available on the Internet, especially in online forums, enables researchers to study society in new ways. However, qualitative analysis of online forums is very time consuming and most content is not related to researchers’ interest. Consequently, analysts face the following problem: how to efficiently explore and select the content to be analyzed? This article introduces a new process to support analysts in solving this problem. This process is based on unsupervised machine learning techniques like hierarchical clustering and term co-occurrence network. A tool that helps to apply the proposed process was created to provide consolidated and structured results. This includes measurements and a content exploration interface.

A Preliminary Study on a Seismotectonic Model for the Active Faults in the Xining Urban Area

On the basis of the Xining active urban fault survey,we studied the relationship between the active urban fault and fold deformation.The result of this research shows that the Huangshuihe fault and the NW-striking fault on the northern bank of the Huangshuihe River are tensional faults on top of an anticline,the Nanchuanhe fault is a transverse tear fault resulting from differential folding on two sides of the fault,the east bank of the Beichuanhe River fault is a compressional fault developed on the core or climb of a syncline.By balance profile analysis of fold deformation and inversion of gravity anomaly data,we obtained the depth of the detachment plane and established the seismotectonic model of the Xining urban area.Based on the seismotectonic model,we analyzed the earthquake potential of the active urban fault.

BACKGROUND Nucleos(t)ide analogs(NAs)cessation in chronic hepatitis B(CHB)patients remains a matter of debate in clinical practice.Current guidelines recommend that patients with hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)seroconversion discontinue NAs after relatively long-term consolidation therapy.However,many patients fail to achieve HBeAg seroconversion after the long-term loss of HBeAg,even if hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)loss occurs.It remains unclear whether NAs can be discontinued in this subset of patients.AIM To investigate the outcomes and factors associated with HBeAg-positive CHB patients with HBeAg loss(without hepatitis B e antibody)after cessation of NAs.METHODS We studied patients who discontinued NAs after achieving HBeAg loss.The Cox proportional hazards model was used to identify predictors for virological relapse after cessation of NAs.The cut-off value of the consolidation period was confirmed using receiver operating characteristic curves;we confirmed the cut-off value of HBsAg according to a previous study.The log-rank test was used to compare cumulative relapse rates among groups.We also studied patients with CHB who achieved HBeAg seroconversion and compared their cumulative relapse rates.Propensity score matching analysis(PSM)was used to balance baseline characteristics between the groups.RESULTS We included 83 patients with HBeAg loss.The mean age of these patients was 32.1±9.5 years,and the majority was male(67.5%).Thirty-eight patients relapsed,and the cumulative relapse rate at months 3,6,12,24,36,60,120,and 180 were 22.9%,36.1%,41.0%,43.5%,45.0%,45.0%,45.0%,and 52.8%,respectively.Twentysix(68.4%)patients relapsed in the first 3 mo after NAs cessation,and 35 patients(92.1%)relapsed in the first year after NAs cessation.Consolidation period(≥24 mo vs<24 mo)(HR 0.506,P=0.043)and HBsAg at cessation(≥100 IU/mL vs<100 IU/mL)(HR 14.869,P=0.008)were significant predictors in multivariate Cox regression.In the PSM cohort,which included 144 patients,there were lower cumulative relapse rates in patien

Objective:To investigate the biological basis of“depression with liver-qi stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome”.Methods:A digital gene expression profiling method was conducted to explore global changes in the mRNA transcriptome in a rat model of depression with liver-qi stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome.Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q-PCR)was performed to verify the five genes most interest based on the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genome(KEGG)analysis.Sini San,which disperses stagnated liver qi and strengthens the spleen,was administered to the model rats to observe whether it could reverse these genetic changes in the liver.Results:Forty-six differentially expressed genes were identified.Three of the five genes of most interestdHnf4a,Hnf4g and Cyp1a1dbased on KEGG analysis,were confirmed by realtime q-PCR.Sini San reduced the gene expression changes of Hnf4a,Hnf4g and Cyp1a1 in the rat model.Conclusions:Hnf4a,Hnf4g and Cyp1a1 are involved in“depression with liver-qi stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome”.These findings indicate that depressed rats with liver-qi stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome are at risk of liver diseases.Furthermore,our results will inform exploration of the etiology of depression and help in the development of effective therapeutic strategies.

Longkong graphite deposit is a new deposit discovered in recent years in the Qilian Orogenic Belt,it is located in the Qilian Block and North Qilian suture zone or their adjacencies.Seven graphite ore-bodies have been revealed by exploratory trench in the deposit,and their fixed carbon content values are 2.44-9.73×10-2.The deposit occurred in the gneiss and marble rocks of early paleozoic Tuolai Group.Based on the study of metallogenic geological background,deposit features and the occurrence states of ore minerals,the geochemical characteristics of ore and the hosted rocks were analyzed.The study shows that the protoliths of ore-bearing rock include clastic rocks,mid-basic volcano rocks and dolomites.After the metamorphism of low amphibolite facies occurred and tectonism superposed,carbon released from carbonate and crystallized into flaky graphite under certain conditions.In genetic classification,it belongs to the regional metamorphic type.It is considered that Longkong graphite carbon derived from inorganic carbon.

The Longmaxi Formation shale in the Xishui area of northern Guizhou is a promising target for shale gas exploration.By using a self-developed gas permeameter that considers temperature and pressure,the apparent permeability of shale samples in this shale reservoir was tested,and the slip factor was fitted using the Klinkenberg permeability correction factor theory.The results show that the confining pressure has a greater impact on the absolute permeability and slippage factor of the shale reservoir.When the confining pressure is in the range of 1.5 MPa to 10 MPa,the absolute permeability varies from 1.54 E-17 m to 2.35 E-21 m,and the slip factor varies from 0.37 MPa to 0.11 MPa.The shale samples have a significant slippage effect when the confining pressure is less than 5 MPa,and the slippage effect contributes more than 19% to the permeability.When the confining pressure is more than 5 MPa and less than 10 MPa,the influence of the slippage effect is relatively weakened,but the contribution rate is still greater than 9%.
