Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs)， mainly including Alzheimer’s disease， Parkinson’s disease， and Multiple sclerosis， represent a major public health challenge with the steady increase of aging population worldwide. Emerging evidence has revealed the key role of the microbiota-gut-brain axis in the pathogenesis of NDs. Diet is one of the most important environmental factors shaping the structure and function of gut microbiota. Manipulating the gut microbiota through specific diet patterns may represent a promising approach for NDs prevention. In this review， we highlight gut microbiota variations in NDs， outline several crucial signaling pathways of the gut-brain communication， and discuss the interplay of nutrients-microbes and biological effect of diet-derived microbial metabolites on neural physiology. In particular， we summarized the current knowledge about the application of dietary patterns in NDs to prevent disease progression via the modulation of the gut microbiota. Our study provides novel insights on the diet-microbiota-gut-brain axis in neurodegenerative disorders and highlights the potential of developing microbiome-targeted personalized dietary intervention for NDs management.

Watermelon is a highly cultivated fruit crop renowned for its quality properties of fruit *** various quality factors,fruit flesh firmness is a crucial quality parameter influencing the fruit texture,shelf life and its commercial *** auxin/indole-3-acetic acid(Aux/IAA)plays a significant role in fruit development and ripening of non-climacteric ***,the regulatory mechanism of Aux/IAA in controlling fruit flesh firmness and ripening in watermelon remains *** this study,we employed an integrative approach combining genome-wide association study(GWAS)and bulked segregant RNA-Seq analysis(BSR-Seq)to identify an overlapping candidate region between 12776310 and 12968331 bp on chromosome 6,underlying an auxin-responsive gene(Aux/IAA)associated with flesh firmness in *** analysis,followed by real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR(qRT-PCR),confirmed that the expression of Aux/IAA was consistently higher in fruits with high flesh *** sequence alignment revealed a single base mutation in the coding region of Aux/***,the concomitant Kompetitive/Competitive allele-specific PCR(KASP)genotyping data sets for F2 population and germplasm accessions identified Aux/IAA as a strong candidate gene associated with flesh ***/IAA was enriched in the plant hormone signal transduction pathway,involving cell enlargement and leading to low flesh *** determined the higher accumulation of abscisic acid(ABA)in fruits with low flesh firmness than hard ***,overexpression of Aux/IAA induced higher flesh firmness with an increased number of fruit flesh cells while reducing ABA content and flesh cell ***,the allelic variation in Aux/IAA for soft flesh firmness was found to exist in Citrullus mucosospermus and gradually fixed into Citrullus lanatus during domestication,indicating that soft flesh firmness was a domesticated *** findings significantly enhanced our unders

Areca nut is the basic ingredient of betel quid， which is chewed by hundreds of millions of people in south-eastern Asia. Chewing of areca nut has been associated with oral cancers potentially due to its specific alkaloids， among which arecoline constitutes about 90% of total fraction. Being the world’s fourth most commonly used psychoactive substance， arecoline evokes stimulation， addiction， and other direct neurological effects， while its misuse correlates to neurotoxic effects. However， what might underlie its neurotoxic mechanisms has been poorly documented. The brain is encoded by a complex network of neuronal and glial cell types， and neurotoxicity of hazardous compounds present transcriptional heterogeneity. Recently， the eusocial bumblebee has been used as a model for studying brain effects， with sophisticated cognitive capability and precisely measured brain architecture. Here， we decipher cell-type-specific mental risks to arecoline using bumblebees. Arecoline induced locomotor hyperactivity and cognitive impairment. Single nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) unearthed arecoline-induced cell-specific responses， primarily targeted on Kenyon cells (KC). Moreover， high-dose arecoline induced distinctive cell responses among KC subtypes， particularly class I large Kenyon cell (lKC)， leading to DNA damage， excitatory/inhibitory (E/I) imbalance， and calcium dyshomeostasis， which potentially resulted in cognitive impairment. Given arecoline’s popularity and growing exposure risks to humans， neurological health risks of areca nut warrant serious consideration.

This study systematically introduces the development of the world’s first full-link and full-system ground demonstration and verification system for the OMEGA space solar power satellite(SSPS).First,the OMEGA 2.0 innovation design was ***,field-coupling theoretical models of sunlight concentration,photoelectric conversion,and transmitting antennas were established,and a systematic optimization design method was ***,a beam waveform optimization methodology considering both a high beam collection efficiency and a circular stepped beam shape was ***,a control strategy was developed to control the condenser pointing toward the sun while maintaining the transmitting antenna toward the ***,a high-efficiency heat radiator design method based on bionics and topology optimization was ***,a method for improving the rectenna array’s reception,rectification,and direct current(DC)power synthesis efficiencies is ***,high-precision measurement technology for high-accuracy beam-pointing control was ***,a smart mechanical structure was designed and ***,the developed SSPS ground demonstration and verification system has the capacity for sun tracking,a high concentration ratio,photoelectric conversion,microwave conversion and emission,microwave reception,and rectification,and thus satisfactory results were obtained.

Aiming at the practical application of Unmanned Underwater Vehicle(UUV)in underwater combat,this paper proposes a battlefield ambush scene with UUV considering ocean ***,by establishing these mathematical models of ocean current environment,target movement,and sonar detection,the probability calculation methods of single UUV searching target and multiple UUV cooperatively searching target are given ***,based on the Hybrid Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization(HQPSO)algorithm,the path with the highest target search probability is ***,through simulation calculations,the influence of different UUV parameters and target parameters on the target search probability is analyzed,and the minimum number of UUVs that need to be deployed to complete the ambush task is demonstrated,and the optimal search path scheme is *** method proposed in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the practical application of UUV in the future combat.

Gradient honeycomb metastructure with broadband microwave absorption and effective mechanical resistance

Multifunctional metastructure integrated broadband microwave absorption and effective mechanical resistance has attracted much attention. However, multifunctional performance is limited by the lack of theoretical approaches to integrated design. Herein, a multi-layer impedance gradient honeycomb(MIGH) was designed through theoretical analysis and simulation calculation, and fabricated using 3D printing technique. A theoretical calculation strategy for impedance gradient structure was established based on the electromagnetic parameter equivalent method and the multi-layer finite iterative method. The impedance of MIGH was analyzed by the theoretical calculation strategy to resolve the broadband absorption. Intrinsic loss mechanism of matrix materials and distributions of electric fields, magnetic fields and power loss were analyzed to investigate the absorption mechanism. Experimental results indicated that a 15 mm thick designed metastructure can achieve the absorption more than 88.9% in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz. Moreover, equivalent mechanical parameters of MIGH was calculated by integral method according to the Y-shaped model. Finite Element analysis of stress distributions were carried out to predict the deformation behavior. Mechanical tests demonstrate that MIGH achieved the compression modulus of 22.89 MPa and flexure modulus of 17.05 MPa. The integration of broadband electromagnetic absorption and effective mechanical resistance was achieved by the proposed design principle and fabrication methodology.

Uncovering the dominant contribution of intermediate volatility compounds in secondary organic aerosol formation from biomass-burning emissions

Organic vapors from biomass burning are a major source of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog chamber studies found that the SOA contributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic compounds(VOCs). While intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs) are efficient SOA precursors and contribute a considerable fraction of biomass-burning emissions, their contribution to SOA formation has not been directly observed. Here, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reactor to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find that IVOCs can contribute ～70% of the formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more than VOCs. This previously missing SOA fraction is interpreted to be due to the high wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation products of IVOCs in smog chambers. The finding in this study reveals that SOA production from biomass burning is much higher than previously thought, and highlights the urgent need for more research on the IVOCs from biomass burning and potentially other emission sources.

Deep carbon recycling viewed from global plate tectonics

Plate tectonics plays an essential role in the redistribution of life-essential volatile elements between Earth's interior and surface, whereby our planet has been well tuned to maintain enduring habitability over much of its history. Here we present an overview of deep carbon recycling in the regime of modern plate tectonics,with a special focus on convergent plate margins for assessing global carbon mass balance. The up-to-date flux compilation implies an approximate balance between deep carbon outflux and subduction carbon influx within uncertainty but remarkably limited return of carbon to convecting mantle. If correct, carbon would gradually accumulate in the lithosphere over time by（i） massive subsurface carbon storage occurring primarily in continental lithosphere from convergent margins to continental interior and（ii） persistent surface carbon sinks to seafloors sustained by high-flux deep CO2emissions to the atmosphere. Further assessment of global carbon mass balance requires updates on fluxes of subduction-driven carbon recycling paths and reduction in uncertainty of deep carbon outflux. From a global plate tectonics point of view, we particularly emphasize that continental reworking is an important mechanism for remobilizing geologically sequestered carbon in continental crust and sub-continental lithospheric mantle. In light of recent advances,future research is suggested to focus on a better understanding of the reservoirs, fluxes, mechanisms, and climatic effects of deep carbon recycling following an integrated methodology of observation, experiment,and numerical modeling, with the aim of decoding the self-regulating Earth system and its habitability from the deep carbon recycling perspective.

In the application of polymer gels to profile control and water shutoff,the gelation time will directly determine whether the gel can "go further" in the formation,but the most of the methods for delaying gel gelation time are complicated or have low *** is an urgent need for an effective method for delaying gel gelation time with intelligent *** by the slow-release effect of drug capsules,this paper uses the self-assembly effect of gas-phase hydrophobic SiO2in aqueous solution as a capsule to prepare an intelligent responsive self-assembled *** capsule slowly releases the cross-linking agent under the stimulation of external conditions such as temperature and pH value,thus delaying gel gelation *** the pH value is 2 and the concentration of gas-phase hydrophobic SiO2particles is 10%,the gelation time of the capsule gel system at 30,60,90,and 120℃ is12.5,13.2,15.2,and 21.1 times longer than that of the gel system without containing capsule,*** with other methods,the yield stress of the gel without containing capsules was 78 Pa,and the yield stress after the addition of capsules was 322 *** intelligent responsive self-assembled micronanocapsules prepared by gas-phase hydrophobic silica nanoparticles can not only delay the gel gelation time,but also increase the gel *** slow release of cross-linking agent from capsule provides an effective method for prolongating the gelation time of polymer gels.

Priority effects of forbs arriving early:the role of root interaction and asymmetric competition

Background The priority effect of plant arrival is a key driver of community assembly and ecosystem succession during the restoration of degraded plant communities. However, the significance of the arrival order of different plant functional groups and their interactions with community assemblies remains unclear. Using a phytotron experiment with three fully crossed factors, we investigated the underlying mechanisms of priority effects and their relationships with the biomass and biodiversity effects in mixed plant communities by manipulating the order of arrival of species, isolation of roots, and removal of specific *** The results showed that the strength and direction of priority effects were influenced by arrival order, root interactions, asymmetric competition among species, and their interactions. The identities of early and late-sown species also determined the magnitude of priority effects. The priority effects were stronger in grass-first(24.76%) and legume-first communities(24.48%) than in forb-first communities. The pot biomass of the different priority treatments was highest in grass-first(5.85 g), followed by legume-first(3.94 g) and forb-first(2.48 g). The order of arrival in the mixture significantly affected the net biodiversity effects(P < 0.001), which were driven by dominance effects. The community had lower overall biomass when forbs were sown first, whereas the species grown later had fewer costs with an increased overall net benefit for the resulting *** Our results emphasize that root interactions and asymmetric competition are vital determinants of order-specific priority effects in community assemblies. In addition, the importance of the priority effect of forbs sown first is related to community assembly, which may be a key determinant in successfully establishing a highly diverse community in the early stages of restoration.
