The double-layer Nicr-cr_(3)c_(2)/Ni-Zn-Al_(2)O_(3) coatings with sufficient corrosion and wear resistance were prepared on low carbon steel *** intermediate layers Ni-Zn-Al_(2)O_(3) were fabricated by using low-pressure cold spray (LPcS) method to improve the salt fog corrosion resistance properties of the supersonic plasma spray (SPS) Nicr-cr_(3)c_(2) *** friction and wear performance for the double-layer and single-layer Nicr-cr_(3)c_(2) coatings were carried out by line-contact reciprocating sliding,*** with the coating surface analysis techniques,the effect of the salt fog corrosion on the tribological properties of the double-layer coatings was *** results showed that the double-layer coatings exhibited better wear resistance than that of the single-layer coatings,due to the better corrosion resistance of the intermediate layer;the wear mass losses of the double-layer coatings was reduced by 70%than that of the single layer coatings and the wear mechanism of coatings after salt fog corrosion conditions is mainly corrosion wear.

As the wind turbine height increases,the probability of multiple upward leaders flashes within the wind farm *** this study,an upward lightning flash containing 21 upward positive leaders(UPLs)initiated from different wind turbines in Zhangbei Wind Farm was *** average speed of the UPLs was 1.2×10^(5) m/s,which mostly decreased to zero before reaching the cloud *** four UPLs developed to cloud height,with prolonged periods of bright light on three of them and with a minimum duration of 126 ms.A total of nine return strokes occurred on the other two dissipated leader channels,and the numbers of strokes on the two channels was six and three,*** average interstroke interval for the return strokes was 10.5 *** of these nine return strokes had peak currents smaller than 10 *** high-speed video frames confirmed that competition does exist between the UPLs,and the range of shielding effects increases as the height of the ULs *** effect of fan rotation on the initiation of upward leaders and the shielding effect between the wind turbines and upward leaders are discussed.

In response to the rapid increase in world population and subsequent demands for food,edible insects represent an alternative food source for humans that is rich in proteins,amino acids and *** is a tradition in many countries including china and Thailand,and edible insects have attracted a lot of attention in Western World due to their suitable nutrient composition,high mineral content(e.g.,Fe,Zn,ca,Mg)and potential use as a supplement in human *** this study,we surveyed mineral content in seven insect orders and 67 species of mass produced and wild-harvested edible *** total content of essential elements in edible insects was very high in Tenebrio molitor,Bombyx mori,and Zonocerus *** heavy metal content(summarized for eight species)was below the maximum limit allowed for safe *** supply of minerals derived from insect biomass is complicated due to the high variations of mineral content in insects and the potential of its change due to processing.

Osmia solitary bees are important pollinators of various crops *** has been widely used to synchronize the emergence time of Osmia species from cocoons with the blooming time of different crops,but the fitness of Osmia after refrigeration remains ***,the effects of long-term refrigeration at 0℃on the vitality,flight ability,and metabolism of Osmia excavata,which is known as the"king of pollination"in china,were *** survival rate(>90%before 120 d),weight loss rate(cted after long-term *** content of fats,which have antifreeze and energy storage properties,was not significantly altered in *** before 130 d of refrigeration,which might explain why the survival rates and flight speed of *** remained high after long-term ***,the flight duration and distance decreased significantly(Pcorrelated with the reduced trehalose levels in ***(r=[+0.69]-[+0.71];Pcate that the pollination potential of *** for various crops with different flowering periods is high after long-term refrigeration;however,long-term refrigeration may decrease pollination *** findings highlight new research directions that could improve the ecological service function of refrigerated ***.

Several studies have confirmed that the health status of the paternal affects the health of the offspring,however,it remains unknown whether paternal exposure to pesticides affect the offspring ***,we used untargeted metabolomics and 16S rRNA sequencing technology,combined with tail suspension test and RT-qPcR to explore the effects of paternal exposure to nitenpyram on the neurotoxicity of *** results found that the paternal exposure to nitenpyram led to the offspring’s depressive-like behaviors,accompanied by the reduction of tryptophan content and the disorder of microbial abundance in the gut of the ***,we determined the expression of tryptophan metabolism-related genes tryptophanase(tnaA)and tryptophan hydroxylase 1(TpH1)in gut bacteria and colonic *** found that tryptophan is metabolized to indoles rather than being absorbed into colonocytes,which coursed the reduce of tryptophan availability after nitenpyram *** conclusion,our study deepens our understanding of the intergenerational toxic effects of pesticides.

Interspecific competition is an important factor in the population dynamics and geographical distribution of insect *** armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda,an invasive species,and the Asian corn borer(AcB),Ostrinia furnacalis,a native pest species are major pests on maize in china,posing a threat to maize yield and grain quality.A series of laboratory,greenhouse,and field experiments were conducted to elucidate the competitive interactions between FAW and *** the laboratory experiments,FAW exhibited aggressive behaviors more frequently when compared with AcB,while the latter species exhibited defense behaviors more *** intraspecific competition was recorded in the FAW conspecific rather than in AcB,particularly in the 6th larval *** had a higher interspecific competitive advantage through intraguild predation over AcB,resulting in partial or complete displacement AcB when initially the ratio of the 2 species was 1:*** interspecific competition also had significantly influenced on the population parameters,defensive enzymes,and nutrient of these 2 *** interaction proved that the response of superoxide,catalase,and soluble protein in FAW were significantly increased,whereas the total sugar content in both species was substantially *** rate,and the plant damage that co-infested by both species varied significantly among the sequential combinations under greenhouse and field *** consistently exhibited stronger intraspecific aggression than AcB under laboratory and field conditions when co-existing on the same feeding *** findings contribute to efforts toward the improvement of integrated pest management programs for FAW,in decision making for invasive and native pests’management strategies to reduce the high risks of FAW and AcB outbreaks.

The Masculinizer gene,Masc,encodes a lepidopteran-specific novel cccHtype zinc finger protein,which controls sex determination and dosage compensation in Bombyx *** the potential application of it in pest control,it is necessary to investigate the function of Masc gene in Hyphantria cunea,a globally invasive forest *** the present study,we identified and functionally characterized the Masc gene,HcMasc,in *** analysis revealed that HcMASc contained the conserved cccH-type zinc finger domain,nuclear localization signal,and male determining domain,in which the last was confirmed to be required for its masculinization in BmN cell ***,expression data showed that unlike male-biased expression in ***,Hc-Masc gene expresses in main all developmental stages or tissues in both *** regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(cRISPR)/cRISPR-associated protein 9-based disruption of the common exons 1 and 3 of the HcMasc gene resulted in imbalanced sex ratio and abnormal external genitalia of both *** results suggest that the HcMasc gene is required for both male and female sexual differentiation and dosage compensation in *** and provide a foundation for developing better strategies to control this pest.

Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of a portable thyroid radioiodine meter in on-site monitoring to enhance the monitoring precision of radioiodine inhaled by nuclear medicine staff and ***:A portable thyroid radioiodine meter was developed to measure the 131I activity in the *** tests of the portable thyroid radioiodine meter were conducted using calibration sources and testing methodologies adhering to national metrological ***:The thyroid radioiodine meter exhibited integral non-linearity,8-h measurement stability,measurement linearity,and an energy resolution of 0.42%,1.05%,1.56%,and 7.11%,respectively for ^(137)cs at 661.66 ***,its minimum detectable activity for ^(131)I at 364.49 keV was approximately 22 Bq(10 min).conclusion:The developed thyroid radioiodine meter features elevated performance and great potential for application in nuclear medicine and monitoring of responses to nuclear or radiological emergencies.

Anthropogenic noise can affect a number of behavioral,physiological,and ecological aspects of animals from major taxonomic groups,raising serious conservation *** example,noise pollution impacts communicative behavior and perception of signals,movements and distribution,as well as predator–prey interactions,such as hunting success or predator detection and predation risk *** have carried out an experimental playback study,in which we investigated whether exposure to anthropogenic noise(sound of a tractor)distracts free-ranging barn swallows Hirundo rustica from paying attention to an approaching human“predator”(the“cognitive distraction”hypothesis),or whether noise leads to increased responsiveness to this“predator”(the“increased threat”hypothesis).The subjects were male barn swallows attending their breeding territories during the time when the females were *** found that barn swallow males initiated fight at signifcantly greater distances to the approaching human“predator”in the noise treatment than during the quiet control *** results suggest that anthropogenic noise causes increased vigilance and reactivity rather than a distraction,enabling birds to avoid the“predator”more *** further discuss the mechanism behind the increased alertness in response to noise and contrast the“increased threat”mechanism,usually tested in previous studies,with an alternative“cognitive sensitization”mechanism.

chlorfenapyr is a broad-spectrum halogenated pyrrole insecticide with a unique mode of *** to the misuse and overuse of this chemical,resistance has been reported in several arthropods,including Plutella xylostella,which is one of the most destructive insect pests afflicting crucifers worldwide.A better understanding of the cross-resistance and genetics of field-evolved chlorfenapyr resistance could effectively guide resistance management ***,the chlorfenapyr resistance of a fieldderived population of P xylostella was introgressed into the susceptible IPP-S strain using a selection-assisted multigenerational backcrossing *** constructed nearisogenic strain,TH-BcsF2,shared 98.4%genetic background with the recurrent parent IPP-S *** TH-BcsF2 strain showed 275-fold resistance to chlorfenapyr,but no significant cross-resistance to spinosad,abamectin,chlorpyrifos,β-cypermethrin,indoxacarb,chlorantraniliprole,or broflanilide(no more than 4.2-fold).Genetic analysis revealed that resistance was autosomal,incompletely dominant,and conferred by 1 major gene or a few tightly linked *** synergism of metabolic inhibitors(PBO,DEM,and DEF)to chlorfenapyr was very weak(c enzyme activities in the TH-BcsF2 strain were not significantly elevated compared with the IPP-S *** results enhances our understanding of the genetic traits of chlorfenapyr resistance,and provides essential information for improving resistance management strategies.
