Using microsatellite markers to identify heritability of Pacific whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

Pacific whiteleg shrimp （Litopenaeus vannamei） is an economically relevant shrimp species in many Asian countries. The specific objective of the current research was to assess microsatellite markers in screening the fast- growth of domesticated L. vannamei stocks to establish a founder population for breeding-selection plans. The *** produced by the reproduction of second generation broodstock were cultured in the same conditions throughout a five months growing period. Ninety juvenile shrimp were selected from the slow-, medium- and the fast-growth groups, and ten microsatellite markers were used to investigate their genetic diversity, and to understand the improvement of a breeding-selection scheme. Ten polymorphic loci （markers）（M1-M10） were produced at ten loci in this sample, among them Primer M8 was the highest polymorphic locus and M7 was the lowest one. A specific locus was found in the fast-growth group using Primer M5. The longest genetic distance （0.481） was determined between the fast- and medium-growth groups and the shortest （0.098） was between the slow- and medium-growth groups; therefore, the largest genetic identity （0.946） was observed between the slow- and medium-growth groups and the smallest （0.667） was observed between the medium- and fast-growth groups. The Unweighted Paired Group with Arithmetic Average （UPGMA） dendrogram based on Nei＇s genetic distances provided two different groups; the first consist of the slow- and medium-growth groups and the second the fast- growth group. Selection response and realized heritability for growth were 11.55% and 31.26%, respectively. Therefore, this set of microsatellite markers would provide a useful tool in shrimp breeding schemes.

Real-Time Characterization of Fibrinogen Interaction with Modified Titanium Dioxide Film by Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation

The adsorption of fibrinogen can be used as a quick indicator of surface haemocompatibility because of its prominent role in coagulation and platelet adhesion. In this work the molecular interaction between fibrinogen and a modified titanium oxide surface/platelet has been studied by quartz crystal microbalanee with dissipation （QCM-D） in situ. In order to further characterize the conformation of adsorbed fibrinogen, αC and γ-chain antibody were used to check the orientation and denaturation of fibrinogen on solid surface. QCM-D investiga- tions revealed the fibrinogen have the trend to adsorb on hydropllilic surface in a side-on orientation by positively charged αC domains, which would reduce the exposure of platelet bonding site on γ chain and enable less platelet adhesion and be activated. These obser- vations suggest that certain conformations of adsorbed fibrinogen are less platelet adhesive than others, which opens a possibility for creating a non-platelet adhesive substrates.

Incorporating Exercise Efficiency to Evaluate the Accessibility and Capacity of Medical Resources in Tibet, China

Accessibility and capacity of medical resources are key for the health care and emergency response, while the efficiency of the medical resources is very much limited by hypoxia in Tibet, *** introducing exercise efficiency, this study explores the accessibility of township residence to county-ship medical resources in Tibet using weighted mean travel time(WMT), and evaluates the medical capacity *** results show that: 1) the average travel time of township residence to county-level hospital is around2 h by motor vehicle in *** than half of the population can not reach the county-ship hospital within 1 h, 33.24% of the population can not reach within 2 h, and 3.75% of the population can not reach within 6 h.2) When considering the catchment of the medical resources and the population size, the WMT of the county-ship medical resources ranges from 0.25 h to 10.92 h.3) After adjusted by travel time and exercise efficiency, the county-ship medical capacity became more unequal, with 38 out of 74 counties could not meet the national guideline of 1.8 medical beds per 1000.4) In total, there are 17 counties with good WMT and sufficient medical resources,while 13 counties having very high WMT and low capacity of medical resources in *** the end, suggestions on medical resources relocation and to improve the capacity are *** study provides a method to incorporate exercise efficiency to access the accessibility and evaluate medical capacity that can be applied in high altitude ranges.

Microstructure,mechanical properties and wear resistance of Ti particles reinforced AZ31 magnesium matrix composites

The compromise between strength and plasticity has greatly limited the potential application of particles reinforced magnesium matrix composites(MMCs).In this work,the Ti particles reinforced AZ31 magnesium(Mg)matrix composites achieved simultaneous improvement in strength,elongation and wear *** Ti particles reinforced AZ31 composites were fabricated by ultrasonic-assisted stir casting with hot *** results showed that a strong interfacial bonding was obtained at Ti/Mg interface because of the formation of semicoherent orientation relationship of Ti Al/Mg,Ti Al/Al_(2)Ti and Al_(2)Ti/Mg *** as-extruded 6 wt.%Ti/AZ31 composite presented the best compressive mechanical properties and wear resistance with ultimate tensile strength,elongation and wear rate of 327 MPa,20.4%and 9.026×10^(-3)mm^(3)/m,obviously higher than those of AZ31 *** enhanced mechanical properties were attributed to the grain refinement and strong interfacial *** improved wear resistance was closely related to the increased hardness of composites and the formation of protective oxidation films.

Real-time Locally Optimal Schedule for Electric Vehicle Load via Diversity-maximization NSGA-II

As distributed energy storage equipments, electric vehicles (EVs) have great potential for applications in power systems. Meanwhile, reasonable optimization of the charging time of EVs can reduce the users’ expense. Thus, the schedule of the EV load requires multi-objective optimization. A diversity-maximization non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (DM-NSGA)-II is developed to perform multi-objective optimization by considering the power load profile, the users’charging cost, and battery degradation. Furthermore, a real-time locally optimal schedule is adopted by utilizing a flexible time scale. The case study illustrates that the proposed DM-NSGA-II can prevent being trapped in a relatively limited region so as to diversify the optimal results and provide trade-off solutions to decision makers. The simulation analysis shows that the variable time scale can continuously involve the present EVs in the real-time optimization rather than rely on the forecasting data. The schedule of the EV load is more practical without the loss of accuracy.

Two-dimensional metallic tantalum ditelluride with an intrinsic basal-plane activity for oxygen reduction:A microkinetic modeling study

Two-dimensional(2D) materials have exhibited great potential for replacing costly Pt for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) because of their distinctive structural features and high pre-site ***,their performance is generally hindered by the limited density of active sites(e.g.,at the layer edges).Although they feature a high exposure of surface sites,these sites are typically inert for ***,through density functional theory calculations,we propose a promising ORR catalyst candidate,a 2D TaTe_(2) nanosheet,which has an intrinsic high basal-plane *** of the thermodynamic and kinetic processes are explored,which demonstrates that the basal-plane Te sites of the TaTe_(2) nanosheet have great potential for facilitating ***,we construct a microkinetic model of ORR proceeding on TaTe_(2),which unveils its dynamic intermediate coverage under different electrode potentials and identifies the dominating associative *** theoretical half-wave potential of TaTe_(2) is predicted to be 0.87 V,which exceeds those of the well-established Pt(111) and Fe–N–C single-atom catalysts computed at the same *** study not only presents the first 2D,non-Pt ORR catalyst candidate with an intrinsic basal-plane activity but also offers a rational methodology for unveiling the mechanism/activity of ORR and other electrochemical reactions.

VALUE-ADDED SERVICE INVESTING AND PRICING STRATEGIES FOR A TWO-SIDED PLATFORM UNDER INVESTING RESOURCE CONSTRAINT

Investing on value-added service （VAS） amplifies users＇ participation and platform profit. However, the investing resource is usually limited in practice. This paper investigates VAS investing and pricing strategies for a two-sided platform under investing resource constraint. We reveal that with VAS investment, Subsidizing can still be done to enlarge users＇ demand, even when the investing cost becomes higher. For optimal pricing strategies, the network effect will be the dominating determinant if the gap between two marginal cross-side benefits （i.e. the benefit that users obtain when each new user join the other side of the platform） is large. Interestingly, we show that with the increase of the marginal investing cost, users might either be priced higher or lower. If the marginal investing cost increases to a high level, and the gap between the two marginal cross-side benefits is large, lowering the access fee for users possessing the higher eross-side network effect does not necessarily compensate more profit loss caused by higher cost. Moreover, after VAS is developed, raising the access fee for those whose marginal investing benefit is large does not necessarily generate more profit as well. The opposite strategy further enlarges users＇ utility, and promotes the investment to benefit more users.

K-Ar dating of synkinematic illite is increasingly recognized as a central method to constrain the timing of shallow crustal *** of efficient sample preparation and quantitative identification of illite polytypes are critical to acquiring K-Ar isotope data for authigenic *** this respect,we compared the commonly used clay size separation method through centrifugation with vacuum filtration technology,showing that the former is prone to extract fractions with finer particle sizes under similar conditions,thus improving the error in the authigenic end-member ***,we demonstrated that the side-packed mounting method for X-ray diffraction analysis can significantly enhance the randomness in powder samples,thus improving the quantification accuracy compared with the front-packed and back-packed *** validity of our quantification method was confirmed by comparing Profex■modeling patterns with a suite of synthetic mixtures of known compositions,yielding an average analytical error of 3%.Dating results of these artificial mixtures and the reference materials indicated that a large range in percentages of detrital illite and a sufficient amount of age data will produce reliable results for ages of both extrapolated ***,if the range is limited,the extrapolated age close to those of datasets is still reliable.
