evolution of Cenozoic sedimentary architecture in Central and Southern South China Sea basins

The Central and Southern South China Sea(CSSCS) has a complex tectonic dynamic background and abundant oil and gas resources, which has always been a hot topic of academic and industrial ***, systematic analyses are still lacking regarding its sediment filling structure and evolution, mostly due to limited borehole penetration and poor quality of seismic reflection data for deeply buried sequences. No consensus has been reached yet on the sedimentary infilling processes, which impeded the reconstruction of the palaeogeography of Southeast Asia and the oil-and-gas exploration undertakings. Here, we illustrate the Cenozoic sedimentary evolution of the CSSCS region by synthesizing relevant data from previous literature and our own observations and displaying the evolution of depositional systems in sequential reconstructions. Besides, the controlling factors of preferred sedimentary scenarios in the CSSCS incorporate the latest interpretations of the spreading of South China Sea(SCS) as well as the demise of the hypothetical Proto-South China Sea(PSCS). The results show that there are three types of sedimentary basins in the CSSCS(foreland,strike-slip, and rift basins) with different sedimentary filling structures. The foreland basins formed a depositional pattern of ‘transition from deep water to shallow water environments', dominated by deep-water depositional systems which were formed before the early Oligocene with submarine fans developed. Later,the foreland basins were gradually dominated by shallow-water depositional systems with deltas and shallow marine facies. The strike-slip basins showed the depositional architecture of ‘transition from lake to marine environments', i.e. the basins were dominated by lacustrine deposits during the eocene and evolved into the marine depositional environment since Oligocene with delta developed in the western part of the basin. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS)is a globally prevalent contagious disease caused by the positive-strand RNA PRRS virus(PRRSV),resulting in substantial economic losses in the swine *** the CD163 SRCR5 domain,either through deletion or substitution,can eff1ectively confer resistance to PRRSV infection in ***,large fragment modifications in pigs inevitably raise concerns about potential adverse effects on growth *** the impact of genetic modifications on normal physiological functions is a promising direction for developing PRRSV-resistant *** the current study,we identified a specific functional amino acid in CD163 that influences PRRSV *** infection experiments conducted on Marc145 and PK-15CD163 cells illustrated that the me535G or corresponding pe529G mutations markedly inhibited highly pathogenic PRRSV(HP-PRRSV)proliferation by preventing viral binding and ***,individual viral challenge tests revealed that pigs with the e529G mutation had viral loads two orders of magnitude lower than wild-type(WT)pigs,confirming effective resistance to *** of the physiological indicators and scavenger function of CD163 verified no significant differences between the WT and e529G *** findings suggest that e529G pigs can be used for breeding PRRSV-resistant pigs,providing novel insights into controlling future PRRSV outbreaks.

Layered double hydroxides(LDHs),known as typical two-dimensional materials with unique physicochemical properties,are regarded as promising candidates in energy storage ***,some inherent defects,such as poor conductivity and limited active sites,hinder the further development of ***,various functionalization strategies(e.g.,intercalation of guest molecules;metal ions doping and defect introduction of host layer;exfoliation to monolayer;hybridization with functional materials;construction of hierarchical structure;interface engineering and phase transformation)have been used to modify the characteristics of LDHs,which provides guidance for designing novel *** this review,we discuss how these strategies improve the properties of LDH-based materials,which are expected to possess high electronic and ionic conductivity,high specific surface area and high mechanical and chemical stability ***,the application of LDH-based materials in advanced energy conversion and storage techniques,including metal-ions batteries,lithium-sulfur batteries and metal-air batteries,have been comprehensively summarized.

engineering high amylose and resistant starch in maize by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated editing of starch branching enzymes

To improve the amylose content(AC)and resistant starch content(RSC)of maize kernel starch,we employed the CRISPR/Cas9 system to create mutants of starch branching enzyme I(SBeI)and starch branching enzyme IIb(SBeIIb).A frameshift mutation in SBeI(e1,a nucleotide insertion in exon 6)led to plants with higher RSC(1.07%),lower hundred-kernel weight(HKW,24.71±0.14 g),and lower plant height(PH,218.50±9.42 cm)compared to the wild type(WT).Like the WT,e1 kernel starch had irregular,polygonal shapes with sharp edges.A frameshift mutation in SBeIIb(e2,a four-nucleotide deletion in exon 8)led to higher AC(53.48%)and higher RSC(26.93%)than that for the WT.e2 kernel starch was significantly different from the WT regarding granule morphology,chain length distribution pattern,X-ray diffraction pattern,and thermal characteristics;the starch granules were more irregular in shape and comprised typical B-type *** SBeI and SBeIIb(e12)had a synergistic effect on RSC,HKW,PH,starch properties,and starch biosynthesis-associated gene ***,SS1,SSIIa,SSIIIa,and SSIIIb were upregulated in e12 endosperm compared to WT *** study lays the foundation for rapidly improving the starch properties of elite maize lines.

enhancing the vertical resolution of lunar penetrating radar data using predictive deconvolution

The Yutu-2 rover onboard the Chang’e-4 mission performed the first lunar penetrating radar detection on the farside of the *** high-frequency channel presented us with many unprecedented details of the subsurface structures within a depth of approximately 50 ***,it was still difficult to identify finer layers from the cluttered reflections and scattering *** applied deconvolution to improve the vertical resolution of the radar profile by extending the limited bandwidth associated with the emissive radar *** overcome the challenges arising from the mixed-phase wavelets and the problematic amplification of noise,we performed predictive deconvolution to remove the minimum-phase components from the Chang’e-4 dataset,followed by a comprehensive phase rotation to rectify phase anomalies in the radar ***,we implemented irreversible migration filtering to mitigate the noise and diminutive clutter echoes amplified by *** processed data showed evident enhancement of the vertical resolution with a widened bandwidth in the frequency domain and better signal clarity in the time domain,providing us with more undisputed details of subsurface structures near the Chang’e-4 landing site.

BACKGROUND In hepatology,the clinical use of endoscopic ultrasound(eUS)has experienced a notable increase in recent *** applications range from the diagnosis to the treatment of various liver ***,this systematic review summarizes the evidence for the diagnostic and therapeutic roles of eUS in liver *** To examine and summarize the current available evidence of the possible roles of the eUS in making a suitable diagnosis in liver diseases as well as the therapeutic accuracy and *** PubMed,Medline,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,and Google Scholar databases were extensively searched until October *** methodological quality of the eligible articles was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale or Cochrane Risk of Bias *** addition,statistical analyses were performed using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis *** Overall,45 articles on eUS were included(28 on diagnostic role and 17 on therapeutic role).Pooled analysis demonstrated that eUS diagnostic tests had an accuracy of 92.4%for focal liver lesions(FLL)and 96.6%for parenchymal liver ***-guided liver biopsies with either fine needle aspiration or fine needle biopsy had low complication rates when sampling FLL and parenchymal liver diseases(3.1%and 8.7%,respectively).Analysis of data from four studies showed that eUS-guided liver abscess had high clinical(90.7%)and technical success(90.7%)without significant ***,eUS-guided interventions for the treatment of gastric varices(GV)have high technical success(98%)and GV obliteration rate(84%)with few complications(15%)and rebleeding events(17%).CONCLUSION eUS in liver diseases is a promising technique with the potential to be considered a first-line therapeutic and diagnostic option in selected cases.

Three New Hydroxytetradecenals from Amomum tsao-ko with Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B and Glycogen Phosphorylase Inhibitory Activity

The fruits of Amomum tsao-ko(Cao-Guo)were documented in Chinese Pharmacopoeia for the treatment of abdominal pain,vomiting,and *** our previous study,a series of diarylheptanes and flavonoids withα-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B(PTP1B)inhibitory activity have been reported from the middle-polarity part of ***-ko,whereas the antidiabetic potency of the low-polarity constituents is still *** this study,three new hydroxytetradecenals,(2e,4e,8Z,11Z)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4,8,11-tetraenal(1),(2e,4e,8Z)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4,8-trienal(2)and(2e,4e)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4-dienal(3)were obtained from the volatile oils of *** structures of compounds 1–3 were determined using spectroscopic data involving 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),high-resolution mass spectra(HRMS),and specific rotation([α]D).Their hypoglycemic activity was evaluated against glycogen phosphorylase(GPa)and *** 1 and 2 displayed moderate activity against PTP1B with inhibition rates of 33.8%−50.3%at 100 and 200μ***,compound 1 exhibited an obvious inhibitory effect on GPa(IC50=31.7μM),whereas compound 2 was *** study demonstrates hydroxytetradecenals as the characteristic components of ***-ko with therapeutic potential in diabetes.

The Mesoproterozoic rifts are developed in the Ordos Basin located in the western margin of the North China *** on the latest 3D seismic data and previous research results,this study intends to discuss the zonal differential deformation characteristics and genetic mechanism of the Mesoproterozoic rifts in the Ordos ***-trending rifts are developed in the Mesoproterozoic in the south-central Ordos Basin,the main part of which are located near the western margin of the North China ***-trending rifts are developed in the north of the basin,while NW-NNW rifts in the Mesoproterozoic in Hangjinqi *** genetic mechanism of the Mesoproterozoic rifts is related to regional extensional stress field,plate boundary conditions and internal preexisting *** main extensional stress direction strikes NWW-SSe(120°)in the western margin of the North China Plate,based on the forward rift trend of the northern *** Hangjinqi area,the reactivation of the existing NWtrending Wulansu fault and NW-NW-trending Daolao fault,results in dextral shear stress *** boundary between the western margin of the North China Plate and its adjacent plates forms a nearly NS-trending preexisting basement tectonic belt,which intersects with the NWW-SSe(120°)extensional stress at an acute angle of 60°.Therefore,the western margin of the North China Plate is formed by oblique normal faults under oblique *** to the long time span of Columbia Supercontinent breakup(1.8e1.6 Ga),the oblique rift in the south-central Ordos Basin is formed under the continuous oblique extension at the western margin of the North China Plate.
