＜正＞ Curtain grouting is constructed to improve the water-tightness of dam rock foundations to control undersecpage. Curtain grouting is executed according to the split-spacing method, in which we construct the next order holes in the middle of the previous order holes. Then, the additional holes are constructed on the position, where we cannot meet the improvement target value in Lugeon value at the final-order of design holes according to the standard for the additional holes construction. And it is judged that it has been improved, when non-exceedance probability of the improvement target value is over 85 to 90% in the final-order holes. The improvement effect of curtain grouting is also evaluated by the check holes in addition to the final-order holes. This means that the check holes have significance as a double *** this paper, the evaluation of the improvement effect of curtain grouting is made using the results of the final-order holes and check holes at four existing dams. We divide each dam foundation into several zones considering virgin permeability in particular and the layout of design grout holes. The results of curtain grouting are analyzed considering the geology of the dam foundations, virgin permeability, the tendency of improvement due to the progress of the order and the frequency distribution of Lugeon values in each zone. Then, it is classified into four patterns from the viewpoint of virgin permeability and of the results of comparing the improvement effect by the final-order holes and that by check holes, and we discuss the possibility of omission of check holes in each pattern.

Effect of water on extractive desulfurization of fuel oils using ionic liquids： A COSMO-RS and experimental study

When evaluating ionic liquids （ILs） for extractive desulfurization （EDS） of fuel oils, the inevitable presence of water in the system may have a significant and in many cases strongly negative effect. However, few studies have considered this particular issue and a promoted water effect on EDS is scarcely reported. In this work, COSMO-RS was firstly employed to calculate the capacity and selectivity for EDS of various IL/H20 mixtures, which cover different IL characters and a wide water concentration range. Experiments were then conducted with a representative IL [C4MIM]IH2P04], whose stable and even promoted extraction performance with a small amount of water was suggested by COSMO-RS. Through analyses of the desulfurization ratio, the cross- solubility and the water content in the desulfurized fuel, the promoted effect of water within a certain range （〈 10 wt%） was experimentally demonstrated. Moreover, such effect of water was explained combining the viscosity, the solvent-solute interactions and the COSMO-RS based analysis.

Characteristics of heavy metals in soil of lead-zinc mining areas and changes of antioxidant enzyme systems in maize leaf under Pb stress

Pb,Cu,Cd,Zn content of soil in mining areas and abandoned land,flats of the Pijiang River and farmlands were *** this basis of soil heavy metal pollution,the changes of antioxidant enzyme system in maize(Qiandan 88)under different Pb concentrations(0,20,40,60,80,100,150,200,500,1000,2000,3000 mg/L)stress were *** results show that the content of Pb,Cu,Cd,and Zn in soil is the highest in mining areas and abandoned land,followed by flats of the Pijiang River>farmlands,and that the variation range of Pb,Cu,Cd in mining areas and abandoned land are 106.40-2564.72,14.83-490.88,22.57-712.77 mg/kg,respectively,which are higher than that of the other land use *** maize is under stress of 20-500 mg/L Pb concentration,T-SOD activity of maize leaves increase with the increase of Pb concentration and the highest value is 50.21 U/mg prot,but under Pb concentration>1000 mg/L stress,T-SOD activity of maize leaves decrease *** activity of POD decreases with the increases of Pb concentra-tion,and the lowest POD activity of leaves in maize with the value of 93.24 U/mg prot is appeared in Pb 1000 mg/L concentration treatment *** content in leaves of maize increases with the increase of the Pb concentration and the highest value is 101.98 nmol/mg prot,then the content of MDA decreases gradually when the Pb concentration is more than 500 mg/L,which indicates that the membrane lipid peroxidation of maize leaves under high concentration of Pb stress is serious and leads to the cell damage.

The Effect of TCM Herbs on Mitochondrial Functions: The Linkage between Qi and Mitochondria

The linkage between Qi and mitochondria was investigated by exploring the effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Qi-invigorating herbs on mitochondrial function at the biochemical and molecular levels. Three Chinese herbs (Astragali radix, Herba cistanche, Panax ginseng) were used to treat cultured mouse kidney cells and the generation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) was measured. The Qi-invigorating herb, Astragali radix, was selected for further study using additional biological and molecular parameters, including ATP, reactive oxygen species (ROS), mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), mtDNA copies, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), cell growth, cell viability and transcriptomes. We also chose two concentrations of Astragali radix to study the hormetic effect. The results indicated that: 1) Qi-invigorating herbs have significant effects on the function of mitochondria, with ATP production and the antioxidant capacity being significantly enhanced, and ROS levels being reduced, allowing for a more optimal oxidation environment. The effect of the herbs followed a hormetic curve with a stimulating effect at lower doses but an inhibiting effect at high doses;2) The growth of the cells was not affected

Phenolic profile， antioxidant properties， and beneficial gut microbiota associated with freeze dried Lycium ruthenicum

Black wolfberry (Lycium ruthenicum) is enriched in phytochemical metabolites which can benefit human health. However， few studies have examined the effects of different fruit drying methods on its polyphenol content， antioxidant activity， and anti-inflammatory activity. In addition， whether and how consuming dried black wolfberry affects gut microbiota has not been reported. Here， we assessed the phytochemical profile and bioactivities of black wolfberry dried through different methods， and subsequently characterized changes in human fecal microbiota associated with freeze-dried black wolfberry in vitro. The results showed that freeze-dried samples retained higher total polyphenols (49.68 ± 1.62) mg GAE/g， tannins (38.64 ± 1.35) mg GAE/g， and proanthocyanidins (3.35 ± 0.30) mg/g compared to sun drying or hot air drying (P group had higher levels of short-chain fatty acids， which was consistent with PICRUSt2 inference. This study defines an optimal method for black wolfberry preservation to retain the beneficial compounds， and provides a foundation for further exploration of its potential benefits for human gut microbiota.

An effective sponge city construction evaluation system plays a crucial role in evaluating sponge city construction *** construction of a sponge city evaluation system still faces challenges related to incomplete index selection and unscientific weight *** studies have focused on the comprehensive assessment of sponge city construction in the early *** study constructed a scientific assessment indicator system and a quantitative indicator weight at all levels by literature review and statistical analysis methods from an objective *** demonstrate how to utilize our evaluation methods,three construction schemes randomly generated by MATLAB were evaluated under evaluation states of constant weight and variable weight,*** 3 had the highest score of 0.638 under the constant weight assessment,but it cannot practically be the final construction scheme due to the imbalance between *** to the constant weight assessment,a variable weight assessment can effectively balance the states of the evaluation index with changes in the decision *** the three schemes,Scheme 2 is the best choice with a value of 0.0355 under variable weight evaluation due to punishment and incentives in the variable weight *** concept of“punishing”a disadvantageous indicator and“motivating”an advantageous indicator increases the relative advantages of the indices,ultimately affecting the assessment results of schemes and leading to a more balanced *** study provides reasonable analysis and decision-making mechanisms to support decision-making and guide the scientific selection of a construction scheme.

Developing Large-Scale Dry Ports—The Case of Arriyadh

The purpose of this paper is to explore the development process of a large scale dry port and to analyse what measures and actions are needed in order to support the decision making process and ensure an effective and efficient dry port that serves the City and the region’s current and future needs. The purpose is explored in the context of Saudi Arabiaand the city ofArriyadh. Key issues identified related to the dry port development are long term planning and crosssector collaboration. The interconnection between the dry port and the overall transport system and aspects, such as location of business, city logistics, road and rail infrastructure, local, regional and national regulations, etc., is strong. This puts challenge on the coordination and alignment of the different organizations, their strategies and objectives. In a complex situation, such as developing a dry port with many stakeholders, it is crucial that the roles of all actors are clearly defined. This is essential for utilizing the dry port as a regional tool for planning. In that regard, it is appropriate that the site location decision is clearly connected with an overall city freight vision and strategy.
