The Effect of Massage with Oils on the Growth of Term Infants: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background and Aims: Infant massage could potentially benefit both physiological and psychological health. This study aims to determine the effect of massage with oils on the growth of full-term infants, which is given by their mothers. Study Design: This is a double-blind randomized controlled trial which was conducted on full term infants visited in the nine Public Health Centers of Shahrekord, Iran in 2010. Material and Methods: This study included 217 infants. Inclusion criteria for the infants were age scale between 10 to 15 days, full term gestation, birth weight of 2500 grams at least, Apgar score of 7 or above, no resuscitation after the birth, exclusive breastfeeding during the study, medically stable condition without any need for drugs, nulliparous. The infants were randomized into four groups: massage with sunflower oil, massage with sesame oil, massage without oil, and no massage (control group). Massage was given by mothers twice a day for 4 weeks, starting from the 10 - 15th day of life. Weight and height were measured weekly. At last, Repeated Measures Analysis of Covariance was employed to analyze the data. Birth weight (height) as well as mean frequency of breastfeeding during the study was deemed as covariates. Results: The findings showed that the mean of weight and height was significantly different between groups over time, respectively (P = 0.005, P < 0.001). The infants’ mean weight in sunflower oil massage group increased significantly compared with other three groups (P = 0.005). In addition, infants’ height gain in sunflower and sesame oil massage group were significantly higher than message-only and control groups (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Massage with oil, especially sunflower oil is an inexpensive, simple, and effective intervention which improved weight and height gain in selected samples. Further studies are needed to evaluate the serious adverse effects, if any, to notify midwives and health care staff.

Analyzes the shortcomings of the classic capital market theories based on EMH and discloses the complexity essence of the capital market. Considering the capital market a complicated, interactive and adaptable dynamic system, with complexity science as the method for researching the operation law of the capital market, this paper constructs a nonlinear logical model to analyze the applied realm, focal point and interrelationship of such theories as dissipative structure theory, chaos theory, fractal theory, synergetics theory, catastrophe theory and scale theory, and summarizes and discusses the achievements and problems of each theory. Based on the research, the paper foretells the developing direction of complexity science in a capital market.

Diagenetic evolution of clastic reservoirs and its records in fine subsection:significance and application

It was showed that understanding of the diagenetic modifications and its associated products in the deeply to ultra-deeply buried tight sandstone reservoirs(DUDTSR)is great important for reservoir characterization and hydrocarbon ***,the fine characterization of diagenetic evolution via geologic modelling in tight sandstones remains a great challenge as for complexity of lithology,temperature,pressure and formation fluid throughout the entire life cycle of tight sandstone *** help get a comprehensive idea of the distribution of diagenetic processes on the formation of DUDTSR in the long geological period,type-I and type-II fine sections of diagenetic stage for clastic reservoirs were creatively proposed and its essence was illustrated using the Paleogene Huagang(EH)Formation in the southern Xihu *** combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods which began with current formation temperature,vitrinite analysis,illite and I/S mixed layers based on analytical testing of the EH Formation,(1)Paleotemperature(T),vitrinite reflectivity and smectite in mixed layer during burial processes were restored based on numerical analysis,(2)The accurate division of diagenetic evolution was identified from coarse to fine process using new model,(3)And finally the geological significance of fine division of the conventional diagenetic stage was illustrated for low-porosity and tight sandstone reservoirs.

A new semi-serial fusion method of multiple feature based on learning using privileged information(LUPI) model was put *** exploitation of LUPI paradigm permits the improvement of the learning accuracy and its stability,by additional information and computations using optimization *** execution time is also reduced,by sparsity and dimension of testing *** essence of improvements obtained using multiple features types for the emotion recognition(speech expression recognition),is particularly applicable when there is only one modality but still need to improve the *** results show that the LUPI in unimodal case is effective when the size of the feature is *** comparison to other methods using one type of features or combining them in a concatenated way,this new method outperforms others in recognition accuracy,execution reduction,and stability.
