Melting heat transfer in the boundary layer flow of a couple stress fluid over a stretching surface is investigated. The developed differential equations are solved for homotopic solutions. It is observed that the velocity and the boundary layer thickness are decreasing functions of the couple stress fluid parameter. However, the temperature and surface heat transfer increase when the values of the couple stress fluid parameter increase. The velocity and temperature fields increase with an increase in the melting process of the stretching sheet.

Using instanton effects, we consider a U（3）c × U（3）L × U（3）R gauge symmetry obtained from intersecting D6-ranes. This is equivalent to the trinification model extended by the three U（1） factors that survive as globM symmetries in the low energy effective model. In the corresponding three-stack, the fermion masses are induced by the possible stringy corrections to the corresponding superpotential by using E2-instantons. Using the known data with neutrino masses mvr-1 eV, we show the magnitudes of the relevant scales.

A numerical simulation was conducted to study the effect of pressure on bubble dynamics in a gas-solid fluidized bed. The gas flow was modeled using the continuum theory and the solid phase, by the discrete element method （DEM）. To validate the simulation results, calculated local pressure fluctuations were compared with corresponding experimental data of 1-mm polyethylene particles. It was shown that the model successfully predicts the hydrodynamic features of the fluidized bed as observed in the experiments. Influence of pressure on bubble rise characteristics such as bubble rise path, bubble stability, average bubbles diameter and bubble velocity through the bed was investigated. The simulation results are in conformity with current hydrodynamic theories and concepts for fluidized beds at high pressures. The results show further that elevated pressure reduces bubble growth, velocity and stability and enhances bubble gyration through the bed, leading to change in bed flow structure.

In the process of interpreting simulation results,new post-processing techniques are *** work presents a post-processing method that analyzes the solidification pattern formed by simulation of the solidification process of molten metal in a mold to produce shaped *** generally involve numerical solutions of differential equations which are discretized by dividing the three-dimensional computational domain into small finite volume elements using a 3D *** locations of the grid points and values of the solidification time at these locations are used to divide the spatial data into 3D sections such that starting from a hotspot location within the section that has high solidification time,there is a gradient outwards with lower values of solidification *** section is assumed to be fed by one or more feeders that must freeze only after the section has solidified *** volume of a feeder can be determined from the volume of the section it is supposed to *** volume and surface area of sections are determined approximately to calculate feeder size and *** post-processing algorithm is a simulation-based quantitative approach to feeder design which in conventional foundry practice has been more of an art than *** is also general enough for use in other 3D segmentation applications.

In the recent years, the phase field method for simulating fracture problems has received considerable attention. This is due to the salient features of the method: 1) it can be incorporated into any conventional finite element software;2) has a scalar damage variable is used to represent the discontinuous surface implicitly and 3) the crack initiation and subsequent propagation and branching are treated with less complexity. Within this framework, the linear momentum equations are coupled with the diffusion type equation, which describes the evolution of the damage variable. The coupled nonlinear system of partial differential equations are solved in a 'staggered? approach. The present work discusses the implementation of the phase field method for brittle fracture within the open-source finite element software, FEniCS. The FEniCS provides a framework for the automated solutions of the partial differential equations. The details of the implementation which forms the core of the analysis are presented. The implementation is validated by solving a few benchmark problems and comparing the results with the open literature.

Mixing efficiency in two-phase gas–liquid agitated vessel is one of the important challenges in the industrial *** fluid dynamics technique(CFD)was used to investigate the effect of four different pitched blade impellers,including 15°,30°,45°and 60°,on the mixing quality of gas–liquid agitated *** multiphase flow behavior was modeled by Eulerian–Eulerian multiphase approach,and RNG k-εwas used to model the *** CFD results showed that a strong global vortex plays the main role on the mixing quality of the gas phase in the *** on the standard deviation criterion,it was observed that the axial distribution of the gas phase in the 30°impeller is about 55%better than the *** addition,the results showed that the 30°impeller has a uniform radial distribution over the other impellers and the maximum gas phase holdup in the *** of the power consumption of the impellers showed that the 30°impeller has the highest power consumption among the other pitched blade ***,examine the effect of same power condition for pitched blade impellers showed that the 30°impeller has the best mixing quality in this condition.
