Cyber-physical-social system in Intelligent Transportation

A cyber-physical system (CPS) is composed of a physical system and its corresponding cyber systems that are tightly fused at all scales and levels. CPS is helpful to improve the controllability, efficiency and reliability of a physical system, such as vehicle collision avoidance and zero-net energy buildings systems. It has become a hot R&D and practical area from US to EU and other countries. In fact, most of physical systems and their cyber systems are designed, built and used by human beings in the social and natural environments. So, social systems must be of the same importance as their CPSs. The indivisible cyber, physical and social parts constitute the cyber-physical-social system (CPSS), a typical complex system and it's a challengeable problem to control and manage it under traditional theories and methods. An artificial systems, computational experiments and parallel execution (ACP) methodology is introduced based on which data-driven models are applied to social system. Artificial systems, i.e., cyber systems, are applied for the equivalent description of physical-social system (PSS). computational experiments are applied for control plan validation. And parallel execution finally realizes the stepwise control and management of CPSS. Finally, a CPSS-based intelligent transportation system (ITS) is discussed as a case study, and its architecture, three parts, and application are described in detail. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

An autoencoder-based feature level fusion for speech emotion recognition

Although speech emotion recognition is challenging,it has broad application prospects in human-computer *** a system that can accurately and stably recognize emotions from human languages can provide a better user ***,the current unimodal emotion feature representations are not distinctive enough to accomplish the recognition,and they do not effectively simulate the inter-modality dynamics in speech emotion recognition *** paper proposes a multimodal method that utilizes both audio and semantic content for speech emotion *** proposed method consists of three parts:two high-level feature extractors for text and audio modalities,and an autoencoder-based feature *** audio modality,we propose a structure called Temporal Global Feature Extractor(TGFE) to extract the high-level features of the timefrequency domain relationship from the original speech *** that text lacks frequency information,we use only a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network(BLSTM) and attention mechanism to simulate an intra-modal *** these steps have been accomplished,the high-level text and audio features are sent to the autoencoder in parallel to learn their shared representation for final emotion *** conducted extensive experiments on three public benchmark datasets to evaluate our *** results on Interactive Emotional Motion Capture(IEMOCAP) and Multimodal EmotionLines Dataset(MELD) outperform the existing ***,the results of CMU Multi-modal Opinion-level Sentiment Intensity(CMU-MOSI) are ***,experimental results show that compared to unimodal information and autoencoderbased feature level fusion,the joint multimodal information(audio and text) improves the overall performance and can achieve greater accuracy than simple feature concatenation.

QoS-aware simulation job scheduling algorithm in virtualized cloud environment

Cloud computing is attracting an increasing number of simulation applications running in the virtualized cloud data *** applications are submitted to the cloud in the form of simulation ***,the management and scheduling of simulation jobs are playing an essential role to offer efficient and high productivity computational *** this paper,we design a management and scheduling service framework for simulation jobs in two-tier virtualization-based private cloud data center,named simulation execution as a service(SimEaaS).It aims at releasing users from complex simulation running settings,while guaranteeing the QoS requirements ***,a novel job scheduling algorithm named adaptive deadline-aware job size adjustment(ADaSA)algorithm is designed to realize high job responsiveness under QoS requirement for *** tries to make full use of the idle fragmentation resources by tuning the number of requested processes of submitted jobs in the queue adaptively,while guaranteeing that jobs’deadline requirements are not *** experiments with trace-driven simulation are conducted to evaluate the performance of our *** results show that ADaSA outperforms both cloud-based job scheduling algorithm KCEASY and traditional EASY in terms of response time(up to 90%)and bounded slow down(up to 95%),while obtains approximately equivalent deadline-missed *** also outperforms two representative moldable scheduling algorithms in terms of deadline-missed rate(up to 60%).

Market-based control strategy for long-span structures considering the multi-time delay issue

To solve the different time delays that exist in the control device installed on spatial structures, in this study, discrete analysis using a 2N precise algorithm was selected to solve the multi-time-delay issue for long-span structures based on the market-based control （MBC） method. The concept of interval mixed energy was introduced from computational structural mechanics and optimal control research areas, and it translates the design of the MBC multi-time-delay controller into a solution for the segment matrix. This approach transforms the serial algorithm in time to parallel computing in space, greatly improving the solving efficiency and numerical stability. The designed controller is able to consider the issue of time delay with a linear controlling force combination and is especially effective for large time-delay conditions. A numerical example of a long-span structure was selected to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented controller, and the time delay was found to have a significant impact on the results.

Formic acid(FA)is a potential biomass resource of syngas with contents of carbon monoxide(CO,60 wt.%)and hydrogen(H_(2),4.4 wt.%).Among the technologies for FA conversion,the photoreforming of FA has received widespread attention due to its use of green solar energy conversion technology and mild reaction ***,a V-W bimetallic solid solution,V_(x)W_(1-x)N_(1.5) with efficient co-catalytic properties was first and facilely *** CdS was used as a photocatalyst,the activity performance of the V_(0.1)W_(0.9)N_(1.5) system was over 60%higher than that of the W_(2)N_(3) *** computational simulations and experiments showed the V_(0.1)W_(0.9)N_(1.5) had great metallic features and large work functions,contributing a faster photo-generated carrier transfer and less recombination,finally facilitating a great performance in cocatalyst for syngas production in photoreforming *** work provides an approach to synthesizing novel transition metal nitrides for photocatalysis.

A new era of data access and management has begun with the use of cloud computing in the healthcare *** the efficiency and scalability that the cloud provides, the security of private patient data is still a majorconcern. Encryption, network security, and adherence to data protection laws are key to ensuring the confidentialityand integrity of healthcare data in the cloud. The computational overhead of encryption technologies could leadto delays in data access and processing rates. To address these challenges, we introduced the Enhanced parallelMulti-Key Encryption Algorithm (EPM-KEA), aiming to bolster healthcare data security and facilitate the securestorage of critical patient records in the cloud. The data was gathered from two categories Authorization forHospital Admission (AIH) and Authorization for High Complexity *** use Z-score normalization forpreprocessing. The primary goal of implementing encryption techniques is to secure and store massive amountsof data on the cloud. It is feasible that cloud storage alternatives for protecting healthcare data will become morewidely available if security issues can be successfully fixed. As a result of our analysis using specific parametersincluding Execution time (42%), Encryption time (45%), Decryption time (40%), Security level (97%), and Energyconsumption (53%), the system demonstrated favorable performance when compared to the traditional *** suggests that by addressing these security concerns, there is the potential for broader accessibility to cloudstorage solutions for safeguarding healthcare data.

A-STC: auction-based spanning tree coverage algorithm for motion planning of cooperative robots

The multi-robot coverage motion planning(MCMP) problem in which every reachable area must be covered is common in multi-robot systems. To deal with the MCMP problem, we propose an efficient, complete, and off-line algorithm, named the "auction-based spanning tree coverage(A-STC)" algorithm. First, the configuration space is divided into mega cells whose size is twice the minimum coverage range of a robot. Based on connection relationships among mega cells, a graph structure can be obtained. A robot that circumnavigates a spanning tree of the graph can generate a coverage trajectory. Then, the proposed algorithm adopts an auction mechanism to construct one spanning tree for each robot. In this mechanism, an auctioneer robot chooses a suitable vertex of the graph as an auction item from neighboring vertexes of its spanning tree by heuristic rules. A bidder robot submits a proper bid to the auctioneer according to the auction vertexes' relationships with the spanning tree of the robot and the estimated length of its trajectory. The estimated length is calculated based on vertexes and edges in the spanning tree. The bidder with the highest bid is selected as a winner to reduce the makespan of the coverage task. After auction processes, acceptable coverage trajectories can be planned rapidly. computational experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed MCMP algorithm and the method for estimating trajectory lengths. The proposed algorithm is also compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms. The comparative results show that the A-STC algorithm has apparent advantages in terms of the running time and the makespan for large crowded configuration spaces.

PIC-MF-based Iterative Receiver for Multiuser Space Frequency Block Coding systems

A novel low-complexity iterative receiver for multiuser space frequency block coding (SFBC) system was proposed in this paper. Unlike the conventional linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector, which requires matrix inversion at each iteration, the soft-in soft-out (SISO) detector is simply a parallel interference cancellation (PIC)-matched filter (MF) operation. The probability density function (PDF) of PIC-MF detector output is approximated as Gaussian, whose variance is calculated with a priori information fed back from the channel decoder. With this approximation, the log likelihood ratios (LLRs) of transmitted bits are under-estimated. Then the LLRs are multiplied by a constant factor to achieve a performance gain. The constant factor is optimized according to extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart of the SISO detector. Simulation results show that the proposed iterative receiver can significantly improve the system performance and converge to the matched filter bound (MFB) with low computational complexity at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs).

The current research of reconfigurable parallel mechanism mainly focuses on the construction of reconfigurable *** with the method of changing the mobility by physical locking joints,the geometric constraint has good controllability,and the constructed parallel mechanism has more configurations and wider application *** paper presents a reconfigurable axis(rA)joint inspired and evolved from Rubik’s Cubes,which have a unique feature of geometric and physical constraint of axes of *** effectiveness of the rA joint in the construction of the limb is analyzed,resulting in a change in mobility and topology of the parallel *** rA joint makes the angle among the three axes inside the groove changed *** change in mobility is completed by the case illustrated by a 3(rA)P(rA)reconfigurable parallel mechanism having variable mobility from 1 to 6 and having various special configurations including pure translations,pure *** underlying principle of the metamorphosis of this rA joint is shown by investigating the dependence of the corresponding screw system comprising of line vectors,leading to evolution of the rA joint from two types of spherical joints to three types of variable Hooke joints and one revolute *** reconfigurable parallel mechanism alters its topology by rotating or locking the axis of rA joint to turn all limbs into different *** prototype of reconfigurable parallel mechanism is manufactured and all configurations are enumerated to verify the validity of the theoretical method by physical experiments.
