Automated estimation of materials parameter from X-ray absorption and electron energy-loss spectra with similarity measures

Materials informatics has significantly accelerated the discovery and analysis of materials in the past *** of the key contributors to accelerated materials discovery is the use of on-the-fly data analysis with high-throughput experiments,which has given rise to the need for accelerated and accurate automated estimation of the properties of *** this regard,spectroscopic data are widely used for materials discovery because these data include essential information about *** important requirement for the realisation of the automated estimation of materials parameters is the selection of a similarity measure,or kernel *** required measure should be robust in terms of peak shifting,peak broadening,and ***,the determination of appropriate similarity measures for spectra and the automated estimation of materials parameters from these spectra currently remain *** examined major similarity measures to evaluate the similarity of both X-ray absorption and electron energy-loss *** similarity measures show good correspondence with the materials parameter,that is,the crystal-field parameter,in all *** Pearson's correlation coefficient was the highest for the robustness against noise and peak *** obtained the regression model for the crystal-field parameter 10 Dq from the similarity of the *** regression model enabled the materials parameter,that is,10 Dq,to be automatically estimated from the *** regard to research progress in similarity measures,this methodology would make it possible to extract the materials parameter from a large-scale dataset of experimental data.

Synergic Motion Trajectory Planning for Airplane Docking Based on6PURU parallel Mechanism

Motion planning issues encountered in assembling airplanes by employing the 6PURU parallel mechanism are analyzed in this paper. A sine curve of the change rate of acceleration, which is called as jerk in the following text, is proposed for uniaxial flexible acceleration and deceleration planning based on the optimal time and velocity and acceleration constraints. Compared with other curves, the proposed curve can realize a continuous n-order derivative and the smooth change of the speed and acceleration. The method is computational^y simple and suitable for programming. In addition, a multiaxial coordinated movement scheme is proposed. The motion trajectory is no longer simply split into many single-direction trajectories nor are all single-direction planning trajectories combined directly. The multiaxial coordinated movement scheme aims to achieve synergic movement in multiple directions to ensure smoothness of the movement in the event of a kinematic error when maintaining a stable value. If the movement fails to achieve this goal, driving force mutations will deteriorate the effect of synergic movement. A physical model of the parallel mechanism is developed in simMechanics, and a holistic system model is completed in SIMULINK. The feasibility of the new planning algorithm is simulated and tested, and then, the multiaxial synergic movement planning method is proposed and verified.

In an era of rapid advancement of algorithms that extract knowledge from data,data and metadata management are increasingly critical to research *** materials science,there are few examples of experimental databases that contain many different types of information,and compared with other disciplines,the database sizes are relatively *** these issues are the challenges in managing and linking data across disparate synthesis and characterization experiments,which we address with the development of a lightweight data management framework that is generally applicable for experimental science and *** years of managing experiments with this system has yielded the Materials Experiment and Analysis Database(MEAD)that contains raw data and metadata from millions of materials synthesis and characterization experiments,as well as the analysis and distillation of that data into property and performance metrics via software in an accompanying open source *** unprecedented quantity and diversity of experimental data are searchable by experiment and analysis attributes generated by both researchers and data processing *** search web interface allows users to visualize their search results and download zipped packages of data with full annotations of their *** enormity of the data provides substantial challenges and opportunities for incorporating data science in the physical sciences,and MEAD’s data and algorithm management framework will foster increased incorporation of automation and autonomous discovery in materials and chemistry research.

A recommender system(RS)relying on latent factor analysis usually adopts stochastic gradient descent(SGD)as its learning ***,owing to its serial mechanism,an SGD algorithm suffers from low efficiency and scalability when handling large-scale industrial *** at addressing this issue,this study proposes a momentum-incorporated parallel stochastic gradient descent(MPSGD)algorithm,whose main idea is two-fold:a)implementing parallelization via a novel datasplitting strategy,and b)accelerating convergence rate by integrating momentum effects into its training *** it,an MPSGD-based latent factor(MLF)model is achieved,which is capable of performing efficient and high-quality *** results on four high-dimensional and sparse matrices generated by industrial RS indicate that owing to an MPSGD algorithm,an MLF model outperforms the existing state-of-the-art ones in both computational efficiency and scalability.

What does “Disruptive” mean? Thoughts on the NIH SCI 2020 meeting

The SCI 2020 meeting is a wakeup call for the SCI research community. The very large worldwide community of individuals with SCI and their family members are justifiably concerned about the pace of progress. But mismatches between research system realities("where is the innovation", grant durations versus the time it takes to do meaningful chronic studies in animals and people, etc.), clinical trial funding mechanisms, FDA approval processes, and patient needs and expectations will require dramatic changes in strategies and tactics. Those were not addressed at this meeting. If the SCI patient community wants to use its frustration to accelerate the development of specific therapies, itmay want to look at an aggressive top-down approach using a contract research organization model and have all studies done in parallel from the beginning to find robust therapies. Angel investors or foundations in it for the long haul will be needed. Alternatively, the National center for Advancing Translational Sciences(NCATS) model of funding translational research might work, but rock solid therapeutic targets will be required. This strategy could lead to "disruptions" that could dramatically accelerate the pace of development of novel therapeutics.

Pilot-scale experiments on multilevel contact oxidation treatment of poultry farm wastewater using saran lock carriers under different operation model

A pilot-scale multilevel contact oxidation reactors system, coupled with saran lock carriers,was applied for the treatment of poultry farm wastewater. The removal efficiencies of CODcr, ammonia, and the total nitrogen as well as the elimination performance of CODcr and total nitrogen along the three-level contact oxidation tanks under six designed operational models were investigated. Based on the performance of the nitrogen removal of the saran lock carriers and the distribution of anoxic–aerobic interspace under the suitable operation model, the mechanism of nitrogen removal of the system was also explored. The results revealed that the intermittent aeration under parallel model is the most suitable operation model, while the removal efficiencies of CODcr, ammonia, and the total nitrogen were 86.86%, 84.04%, and 80.96%, respectively. The effluent concentration of CODcr,ammonia, and the total nitrogen were 55.6 mg/L, 8.3 mg/L, and 12.0 mg/L, which satisfy both the discharge standard of pollutants for livestock and poultry breeding industry(GB18596–2001) and the first grade of the integrated wastewater discharge standard(GB 8978–1996). Moreover, the mechanism for the nitrogen removal should be attributed to the plenty of anoxic–aerobic interspaces of the biofilm and the three-dimensional spiral structure of the saran lock carriers, where the oxygen-deficient distribution was suitable for the happening of the simultaneous nitrification and denitrification process. Therefore, the multilevel contact oxidation tanks system is an effective pathway for the treatment of the poultry farm wastewater on the strength of a suitable operation model and novel carriers.

parallel Construction Heuristic Combined with Constraint Propagation for the Car Sequencing Problem

For the car sequencing（CS） problem, the draw-backs of the ＂sliding windows＂ technique used in the objective function have not been rectified, and no high quality initial solution has been acquired to accelerate the improvement of the solution quality. Firstly, the objective function is improved to solve the double and bias counting of violations broadly discussed. Then, a new method combining heuristic with constraint propagation is proposed which constructs initial solutions under a parallel framework. Based on constraint propagation, three filtering rules are designed to intersecting with three greedy functions, so the variable domain is narrowed in the process of the construction. The parallel framework is served to show its robustness in terms of the quality of the solution since it greatly increases the performance of obtaining the best solution. In the computational experiments, 109 instances of 3 sets from the CSPLib＇ s benchmarks are used to test the performance of the proposed method. Experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms others in acquiring the best-known results for 85 best-known results of 109 are obtained with only one construction. The proposed research provides an avenue to remedy the deficiencies of ＂sliding windows＂ technique and construct high quality initial solutions.

Study on a new chaotic bitwise dynamical system and its FPGA implementation

In this paper, the structure of a new chaotic bitwise dynamical system （CBDS） is described. Compared to our previous research work, it uses various random bitwise operations instead of only one. The chaotic behavior of CBDS is mathemat- ically proven according to the Devaney＇s definition, and its statistical properties are verified both for uniformity and by a comprehensive, reputed and stringent battery of tests called TestU01. Furthermore, a systematic methodology developing the parallel computations is proposed for FPGA platform-based realization of this CBDS. experiments finally validate the proposed systematic methodology.
