An Efficient and Spam-Robust Proximity Measure Between communication Entities

Electronic communication service providers are obliged to retain communication data for a certain amount of time by their local laws. The retained communication data or the communication logs are used in various applications such as crime detection, viral marketing, analytical study, and so on. Many of these applications rely on effective techniques for analyzing communication logs. In this paper, we focus on measuring the proximity between two communication entities, which is a fundamental and important step toward further analysis of communication logs, and propose a new proximity measure called ESP （Efficient and Spam-Robust Proximity measure）. Our proposed measure considers only the （graph- theoretically） shortest paths between two entities and gives small values to those between spam-like entities and others. Thus, it is not only computationally efficient but also spam-robust. By conducting several experiments on real and synthetic datasets, we show that our proposed proximity measure is more accurate, computationally efficient and spam-robust than the existing measures in most cases.

Identifying influential nodes in complex networks and ranking their importance plays an important role in many fields such as public opinion analysis, marketing, epidemic prevention and control. To solve the issue of the existing node centrality measure only considering the specific statistical feature of a single dimension, a SLGC model is proposed that combines a node’s self-influence, its local neighborhood influence, and global influence to identify influential nodes in the network. The exponential function of e is introduced to measure the node’s self-influence;in the local neighborhood,the node’s one-hop neighboring nodes and two-hop neighboring nodes are considered, while the information entropy is introduced to measure the node’s local influence;the topological position of the node in the network and the shortest path between nodes are considered to measure the node’s global influence. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, extensive comparison experiments are conducted with eight existing node centrality measures on six real network data sets using node differentiation ability experiments, susceptible–infected–recovered(SIR) model and network efficiency as evaluation criteria. The experimental results show that the method can identify influential nodes in complex networks more accurately.

Several phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3 K) inhibitors are currently approved to treat hematolymphatic malignant diseases worldwide, and many drugs that have the same target are in the clinical research stage. In March 2022,duvelisib became the first PI3 K inhibitor approved in China indicated for the treatment of hematolymphatic malignant diseases. Meanwhile, linperlisib and copanlisib have almost completed the technical review of the clinical specialty. The center for Drug Evaluation(CDE) of the China National Medical Products Administration(NMPA) found that class I PI3 K inhibitors can cause various degrees of immune-related adverse events, which are associated with action mechanisms, affecting the benefit-risk assessment of the drugs. On April 21, 2021, the United States Food and Drug Administration(FDA) convened the Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee(ODAC)meeting to discuss the safety of PI3 K inhibitors indicated for hematolymphatic malignancies and their related risk of death. The hematological tumor group of CDE of the China NMPA summarized and combined the data on PI3 K inhibitors listed or under technical review for marketing authorization applications and found that such products may have unique efficacy and safety characteristics in Chinese patients with malignant lymphoma.

Cancer stem cells(CSCs)constitute a pivotal element within the tumor microenvironment(TME),driving the initiation and progression of ***,the identification of CSCs and their underlying molecular mechanisms in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC)remains a formidable ***,we employed single-cell RNA sequencing of matched primary tumor tissues,paracancerous tissues,and local lymph nodes from three LSCC patients to comprehensively characterize the CSCs in *** distinct clusters of stem cells originating from epithelial populations were delineated and verified as CSCs and normal stem cells(NSCs),*** were abundant in the paracancerous tissues compared to those in the tumor *** showed high expression of stem cell marker genes such as PROM1,ALDH1A1,and SOX4,and increased the activity of tumor-related hypoxia,Wnt/β-catenin,and Notch signaling *** then explored the intricate crosstalk between CSCs and the TME cells and identified targets within the TME that related with *** also found eight marker genes of CSCs that were correlated significantly with the prognosis of LSCC ***,bioinformatics analyses showed that drugs such as erlotinib,OSI-027,and ibrutinib selectively targeted the CSC-specifically expressed *** conclusion,our results represent the first comprehensive characterization of CSC properties in LSCC at the single-cell level.
