Determination of liquid viscosity based on dual-frequency-bandparticle tracking

An optical-tweezers-based dual-frequency-band particle tracking system was designed and fabricated for liquid viscositydetection. On the basis of the liquid viscosity dependent model of the particle’s restricted Brownian motion with theFax´en correction taken into account, the liquid viscosity and optical trap stiffness were determined by fitting the theoreticalprediction with the measured power spectral densities of the particle’s displacement and velocity that were derived from thedual-frequency-band particle tracking data. When the SiO2 beads were employed as probe particles in the measurements ofdifferent kinds of liquids, the measurement results exhibit a good agreement with the reported results, as well as a detectionuncertainty better than 4.6%. This kind of noninvasive economical technique can be applied in diverse environments forboth in situ and ex situ viscosity detection of liquids.

Polarization squeezed light plays a key role in quantum memory by transferring quantum information between atoms and photons [1], and has potential applications in quantum precision measurement [2]. For polarization squeezed light, the quantum variance of at least one Stokes operator is smaller than that of the coherent *** with the quadrature squeezed state, polarization squeezed light has the following advantages: one is that it is a bright beam, and the other is that it can be measured directly without using a local oscillator.

The interconnection bottleneck caused by limitations of cable number, inner space and cooling power of dilution refrigerators has been an outstanding challenge for building scalable superconducting quantum computers with the increasing number of qubits in quantum processors. To surmount such an obstacle, it is desirable to integrate qubits with quantum–classical interface(QCI) circuits based on rapid single flux quantum(RSFQ) circuits. In this work, a digital flux tuner for qubits(DFTQ) is proposed for manipulating flux of qubits as a crucial part of the interface circuit. A schematic diagram of the DFTQ is presented, consisting of a coarse tuning unit and a fine-tuning unit for providing magnetic flux with different precision to qubits. The method of using DFTQ to provide flux for gate operations is discussed from the optimization of circuit design and input signal. To verify the effectiveness of the method, simulations of a single DFTQ and quantum gates including a Z gate and an iSWAP gate with DFTQs are performed for flux-tunable transmons. The quantum process tomography corresponding to the two gates is also carried out to analyze the sources of gate error. The results of tomography show that the gate fidelities independent of the initial states of the Z gate and the iSWAP gate are 99.935% and 99.676%,respectively. With DFTQs inside, the QCI would be a powerful tool for building large-scale quantum computers.

We demonstrate a resolution enhancement scheme of radio-frequency signals by tailoring a phase-squeezed *** echo radio-frequency signals collected by photonic radar give rise to displacements in the phase quadrature of a probe laser and are estimated by the balanced homodyne *** contrast to the conventional coherent state,the noise variances for radio-frequency estimation with a squeezed state are reduced by approximately 6.9 *** to the Rayleigh criterion that defines the resolution limit,the minimum resolvable displacementΔa with a squeezed state is reduced to 45%compared to that with a coherent state,demonstrating the quantum *** squeezing-enhanced technique has extensive applications for multitarget recognition and tracking in contemporary photonic radar systems.

The Brillouin scattering is one of the strongest nonlinear optical effects in dielectrics[1].In particular,the backward Brillouin scattering(BBS)provides an efficient method to achieve low-noise optical gain for active photonics[2]and the coherent interconnects between 10 GHz phonons and photons[3].However,previous studies on BBS are primarily limited to the unconfined phonons[1]or phonon confined in suspended structures[4-6].

We report on the optimal production of the Bose and Fermi mixtures with ^(87) Rb and ^(40)K in a crossed optical dipole trap(ODT).We measure the atomic number and lifetime of the mixtures in combination of the spin state |F=9/2,m_(F)=9/2> of^(40)K and |1,1>of ^(87) Rb in the ODT,which is larger and longer compared with the combination of the spin state |9/2,9/2> of^(40)K and 12,2) of ^(87)Rb in the *** observe the atomic numbers of ^(87)Rb and ^(40)K shown in each stage of the sympathetic cooling process while gradually reducing the depth of the optical *** optimizing the relative loading time of atomic mixtures in the MOT,we obtain the large atomic number of ^(40)K(~6 ×10^(6)) or the mixtures of atoms with an equal number(~1.6 × 10^(6)) at the end of evaporative cooling in the *** experimentally investigate the evaporative cooling in an enlarged volume of the ODT via adding a third laser beam to the crossed ODT and found that more atoms(8 × 10^(6)) and higher degeneracy(T/T_(F)=0.25) of Fermi gases are *** ultracold atomic gas mixtures pave the way to explore phenomena such as few-body collisions and the Bose-Fermi Hubbard model,as well as for creating ground-state molecules of ^(87)Rb^(40)K.

Microscopes are indispensable tools in modern biology and medicine. With the development of microscopy, the signal-tonoise ratio of microscopes is now limited by the shot noise. Recently, quantum-enhanced microscopic imaging provides a feasible approach for improving the signal-to-noise ratio since it can beat the shot-noise limit by using quantum light. In this review, we first briefly introduce quantum states applied in quantum-enhanced microscopic imaging, and then we provide an overview of the principle and progress of quantum-enhanced stimulated Raman scattering microscopy, entangled twophoton microscopy,and quantum-enhanced differential interference contrast microscopy.

quantum Fisher information(QFI)associated with local metrology has been used to parameter estimation in open quantum *** this work,we calculated the QFI for a moving Unruh-DeWitt detector coupled with massless scalar fields in n-dimensional spacetime,and analyzed the behavior of QFI with various parameters,such as the dimension of spacetime,evolution time,and Unruh *** discovered that the QFI of state parameter decreases monotonically from 1 to 0 over ***,we noted that the QFI for small evolution times is several orders of magnitude higher than the QFI for long evolution *** also found that the value of QFI decreases at first and then stabilizes as the Unruh temperature *** was observed that the QFI depends on initial state parameterθ,and Fθis the maximum forθ=0 orθ=π,Fφis the maximum forθ=π/*** also obtain that the maximum value of QFI for state parameters varies for different spacetime dimensions with the same evolution time.

Focused on the performance promotion of organic small molecular dyes based photothermal agents via non-chemical modification,we found that heat-assisted binding of human serum albumin(HSA)to the dye causes shrinkage of the protein and encapsulate the dye to form *** revolutionizes the photostability of small molecule dyes which further improves their photothermal conversion effi-ciency and tumor ablation performance as photothermal agents *** this work,the obtained photothermal agent named HSA-P2-T could accumulate in tumor and induce 22℃enhancement of the tumor in xenograft models upon ultra-low dose(0.1 W/cm^(2))laser irradiation,which,as far as we know,is the lowest laser dose used in vivo photothermal *** HSA-P2-T,we realized tumor ablation upon twice intravenous injections of the nanoparticles and four photothermal treatments.
