Previously undiagnosed Morgagni hernia with bowel perforation detected during repeat screening colonoscopy: A case report

BACKGROUND Morgagni hernia(MH)is a form of congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH)characterized by an incomplete formation of diaphragm,resulting in the protru-sion of abdominal organs into the thoracic cavity.The estimated incidence of CDH is between 1 in 2000 and 1 in 5000 live births,although the true incidence is unknown.MH typically presents in childhood and can be diagnosed either pre-natally or postnatally.However,it can also be asymptomatic and carry the risk of developing into a life-threatening condition in adulthood.CASE SUMMARY A 76-year-old female with no history of prior abdominal surgeries presented for an elective colonoscopy for polyp surveillance.During the procedure,when approaching the hepatic flexure,the scope could not be advanced further despite multiple attempts.The patient experienced mild abdominal discomfort,leading to the abortion of the procedure.While in the recovery area,she developed increa-sing abdominal pains and hypotension.Urgent abdominal imaging revealed her-niation of the proximal transverse colon through a MH into the chest with evi-dence of perforation.The patient underwent laparoscopic urgent colonic resection and primary hernia repair and was discharged uneventfully 2 d later.CONCLUSION A MH is a rare condition in adults that can present as a life-threatening compli-cation of colonoscopy,even in patients with a history of uneventful colonoscopies.This case highlights the importance of considering congenital and internal hernias when faced with sudden and unexplained difficulties during colonoscopy.If there is a suspicion of MH,the endoscopist should halt the procedure and immediately obtain abdominal imaging to confirm the diagnosis.

With integration of large-scale renewable energy,new controllable devices,and required reinforcement of power grids,modern power systems have typical characteristics such as uncertainty,vulnerability and openness,which makes operation and control of power grids face severe security challenges.Application of artificial intelligence(AI)technologies represented by machine learning in power grid regulation is limited by reliability,interpretability and generalization ability of complex modeling.Mode of hybrid-augmented intelligence(HAI)based on human-machine collaboration(HMC)is a pivotal direction for future development of AI technology in this field.Based on characteristics of applications in power grid regulation,this paper discusses system architecture and key technologies of human-machine hybrid-augmented intelligence(HHI)system for large-scale power grid dispatching and control(PGDC).First,theory and application scenarios of HHI are introduced and analyzed;then physical and functional architectures of HHI system and human-machine collaborative regulation process are proposed.Key technologies are discussed to achieve a thorough integration of human/machine intelligence.Finally,state-of-theart and future development of HHI in power grid regulation are summarized,aiming to efficiently improve the intelligent level of power grid regulation in a human-machine interactive and collaborative way.

Background The importance of sheep breeding in the Mediterranean part of the eastern Adriatic has a long tradition since its arrival during the Neolithic migrations.Sheep production system is extensive and generally carried out in traditional systems without intensive systematic breeding programmes for high uniform trait production(carcass,wool and milk yield).Therefore,eight indigenous Croatian sheep breeds from eastern Adriatic treated here as metapopulation(EAS),are generally considered as multipurpose breeds(milk,meat and wool),not specialised for a particular type of production,but known for their robustness and resistance to certain environmental conditions.Our objective was to identify genomic regions and genes that exhibit patterns of positive selection signatures,decipher their biological and productive functionality,and provide a"genomic"characterization of EAS adaptation and determine its production type.results We identified positive selection signatures in EAS using several methods based on reduced local variation,linkage disequilibrium and site frequency spectrum(eROHi,iHS,nSL and CLR).Our analyses identified numerous genomic regions and genes(e.g.,desmosomal cadherin and desmoglein gene families)associated with environmental adaptation and economically important traits.Most candidate genes were related to meat/production and health/immune response traits,while some of the candidate genes discovered were important for domestication and evolutionary processes(e.g.,HOXa gene family and FSIP2).These results were also confirmed by GO and QTL enrichment analysis.Conclusions Our results contribute to a better understanding of the unique adaptive genetic architecture of EAS and define its productive type,ultimately providing a new opportunity for future breeding programmes.At the same time,the numerous genes identified will improve our understanding of ruminant(sheep)robustness and resistance in the harsh and specific Mediterranean environment.

Review and Prospect of research on Structural Health Monitoring Technology for Bridges

As a crucial infrastructure in the transport system,the safe operation of bridges is directly related to all aspects of people’s daily lives.The development of bridge structural health monitoring technology and its application play an important role in ensuring the safety and extending the service life of bridges.This paper carries out in-depth research and analysis on the related technology of bridge structural health monitoring.Firstly,the existing monitoring technologies at home and abroad are sorted out,and the advantages and problems of various methods are compared and analyzed,including nondestructive testing,stress measurement,vibration characteristic identification,and other commonly used monitoring technologies.Secondly,the key technologies and equipment in the bridge health monitoring system,such as sensor technology,data acquisition,and processing technology,are introduced in detail.Finally,the development trend in the field of bridge health monitoring is prospected from both theoretical research and technical application.In the future,with the development of emerging technologies such as big data,cloud computing,and the Internet of Things,it is expected that bridge health monitoring with intelligent and systematic features will be more widely applied to provide a stronger guarantee for the safe and efficient operation of bridges.

Short circuit analysis of a fault-tolerant current-limiting high temperature superconducting transformer in a power system in presence of distributed generations

Power transformers are key elements for the safe and reliable delivery of electrical energy generated by renewable energy resources to consumers via transmission lines.Fault‐tolerant current‐limiting High Temperature Superconducting(FTCL HTS)transformers are type of superconducting transformers that tolerate fault for seconds and limit the fault current without the threat of burnout or delamination of tapes and deformation of windings.In this paper,the fault performance of a FTCL HTS transformer in a standard IEEE power system is investigated.The studied transformer is a 50 MVA 132 kV/13.8 kV transformer where both windings are made up of HTS tapes.The understudied power system consists of two microgrids with distributed generators.Part of the power in microgrids is supplied by the upstream grid which is connected to the microgrids through the HTS transformers.Two fault scenarios have been considered in this power system,in each one of these scenarios,a fault happens in one of the microgrids.Two considered fault scenarios have an approximate fault current of 18x to 23x of the rated current in the secondary windings.results showed that insulated windings in FTCL HTS transformers could substantially reduce the peak temperature of the HTS windings,compared to bare windings.Afterwards,post‐fault loading is imposed on the HTS windings,to observe their performance against the current increase after fault clearance.In this case,for the first scenario of the faults,the FTCL HTS transformer could tolerate 192%of post‐fault overloading,while this number for the second fault scenario is 170%.Finally,the impact of post‐fault loading on the full recovery time was discussed.

Rare etiology of colonic intussusception involving an adult with emphysematous cystic enteropathy:A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis(PCI),characterized by a collection of gas-filled cysts in the intestinal wall,is an uncommon but well-known condition in gastroenterology.Abdominal pain is the most frequent symptom associated with PCI.Intussusception represents a potential cause of recurrent abdominal pain or emergency presentation.However,the occurrence of colonic intussusception secondary to PCI is very unusual in adulthood.CASE SUMMARY A 52-year-old male,known with idiopathic PCI,presented seventeen months after initial diagnosis with a new right upper quadrant pain.A computed tomographyscan demonstrated a colonic intussusception at the hepatic flexure.PCI did not progress compared with initial investigation.The patient underwent an emergency right hemicolectomy.CONCLUSION resection was recommended in this case because PCI proved to be persisting with no identified curable cause.Surgery allowed to address the underlying pathology,the potential relapse of intussusception,and the likely cause of recurrent abdominal pain,either invagination or PCI itself.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs) have made impressive strides in recent years with the power conversion efficiency(PCE)now exceeding 26% [1], which is comparable to established technologies such as silicon. However, the ion migration in perovskites causes undesirable hysteresis and degradation.This affects the long-term operational stability of PSCs,hampering a possible industrialization.

Background Clostridium butyricum(CB)is a probiotic that can regulate intestinal microbial composition and improve meat quality.Rumen protected fat(RPF)has been shown to increase the dietary energy density and provide essential fatty acids.However,it is still unknown whether dietary supplementation with CB and RPF exerts beneficial effects on growth performance and nutritional value of goat meat.This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary CB and RPF supplementation on growth performance,meat quality,oxidative stability,and meat nutritional value of finishing goats.Thirty-two goats(initial body weight,20.5±0.82 kg)were used in a completely randomized block design with a 2 RPF supplementation(0 vs.30 g/d)×2 CB supplementation(0 vs.1.0 g/d)factorial treatment arrangement.The experiment included a 14-d adaptation and 70-d data and sample collection period.The goats were fed a diet consisted of 400 g/kg peanut seedling and 600 g/kg corn-based concentrate(dry matter basis).result Interaction between CB and RPF was rarely observed on the variables measured,except that shear force was reduced(P18:3(P1),20:5(P=0.003)and total polyunsaturated fatty acids(P=0.048)were increased,whereas the L*values(P1),shear force(P=0.050)and malondialdehyde content(P=0.044)were decreased by adding CB.Furthermore,CB supplementation increased essential amino acid(P=0.027),flavor amino acid(P=0.010)and total amino acid contents(P=0.024)as well as upregulated the expression of lipoprotein lipase(P=0.034)and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγ(PPARγ)(P=0.012),and downregulated the expression of stearoyl-CoA desaturase(SCD)(P=0.034).The RPF supplementation increased dry matter intake(P=0.005),averaged daily gain(tren

Nematode identification serves as an important param-eter to study their behaviour,importance and pathogenic-ity.Application of classical morphometric based identifica-tion methods prove to be lacking due to insufficient knowledge on morphological variations among closely related taxa.Molecular approaches such as DNA and protein-based information,microarray,probing,sequence-based methods and others have been used to supplement morphology-based methods for nematode identification.Ascarosides and certain protein-based nematode-associated molecular patterns(NAMPs),can be perceived by the host plants,and can initiate a signalling cascade.This review primarily emphasizes on an updated account of different classical and modern tools used for the identification of nematodes.Besides we also summa-rize the mechanism of some important signalling pathways which are involved in the different plant nematode interactions.Nematodes constitute most diverse and least studied group of soil inhabiting invertebrates.They are ecologically and physiologically important,however,wide range of nematodes show harmful impact on the individuals that live within their vicinity.Plant parasitic nematodes(PPNs)are transparent,pseudocoelomate,free living or parasitic microorganisms.PPNs lack morphometric identification methods due to insufficient knowl-edge on morphological variations among closely related taxa.As such,molecular approaches such as DNA and protein-based information,microarray,probing,sequence-based methods and others have been used to supplement morphology-based methods for their identification.To invade the defense response of different plant species,parasitic nematodes have evolved different molecular strategies.Ascarosides and certain protein-based nematode-associated molecular patterns(NAMPs),can be perceived by the host plants,and can initiate a signaling cascade.To overcome the host confrontation and develop certain nematode feeding sites,some members can inject effectors into the cells of susceptible hosts to reprogram the

Seasonal changes in Hermit Thrush (Catharus guttatus) song syntax

In many songbird species,birdsong features phonological syntax,meaning that the units within their vocal se-quences are ordered in a non-random way that adheres to a rule.While such syntactical patterns have been richly described in many species,comparatively little is known about how those patterns contribute to song achieving its important functions.For each of song’s main functions,territorial defense and mate attraction,evidence of a role for syntax is limited.One species for which syntax has been thoroughly described is the Hermit Thrush(Catharus guttatus),which presents song types from their repertoires in a semi-predictable order and,in doing so,rapidly cycle up and down the frequency spectrum.The objective of the present study was to explore the importance of song syntax in the Hermit Thrush through a within-subject examination of how measures of syntax,such as the predictability of song type order within song sequences,shift over the breeding season.We hypothesized that,if such syntactical characteristics are important to breeding behaviour,they would be most prominent at the start of the breeding season when activity associated with territory establishment and mate attraction is most intense.Analysis revealed that,as predicted,the rigidness of song type ordering within se-quences was highest at the start of the season and declined thereafter.That song type sequences were most predictable at the vitally important early part of the breeding season fit our hypothesis that this aspect of song syntax is important to song’s functions related to territory establishment and/or mate attraction.Future work will clarify whether that role relates to one of song’s two main functions or serves song transmission in some broader way.
