Nanoplastics-induced developmental and reproductive toxicity,neurotoxicity and immunotoxicity are a focus of widespread ***,the effects of nanoplastics(NPs)on glycolipid metabolism and the precise underlying mechanisms are unclear at ***,we showed that oral administration of polystyrene nanoparticles(PS-NPs)disrupts glycolipid metabolism,with reactive oxygen species(ROS)identified as a potential key signaling *** PS-NPs treatment,excessive production of ROS induced the infammatory response and activated the antioxidant pathway through nuclear factor-erythroid factor 2-related factor *** activation of nuclear factor-κB(NFκB)signaling pathway induced the phosphorylation of the mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPK)signaling pathway,which induced the activation of extracellular regulated kinases(ERK)and *** activation of the MAPK signaling proteins induced high continued phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate-1,in turn,leading to decreased protein kinase B(Akt)activity,which weakened the sensitivity of liver cells to insulin signals and induced insulin *** parallel,phosphorylation of Akt led to loss of control of Fo XO1,a key gene of gluconeogenesis,activating transcription of glucose-6-phosphatase(G6PC)and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(PEPCK)in a manner dependent on PGC1α.Moreover,the activated ERK promoted lipid accumulation through ERK-PPARγ***,sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1 and levels of its downstream lipogenic enzymes,ACC-1,were *** treatment with the antioxidant resveratrol,PS-NPs-induced glucose and lipid metabolic disorders were improved by inhibiting ROS-induced activation of NFκB and MAPK signaling pathway in *** on above,PS-NPs exposure disrupts glycolipid metabolism in mice,with ROS identified as a potential key signaling molecule.

Ferritin and mortality in hemodialysis patients with COVID-19:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective:To investigate the difference in serum ferritin levels between deceased and surviving regular hemodialysis patients with ***:We conducted a systematic search across four databases following the PRISMA statement *** reporting ferritin levels and mortality of regular hemodialysis patients with COVID-19 were *** the random-effects model,we performed a meta-analysis to determine the mean difference in serum ferritin levels between the studied groups,along with their corresponding 95%confidence *** meta-analysis was carried out using Review Manager 5.4 and Stata ***:A total of 1013 patients from seven studies were included in this *** meta-analysis showed higher mean serum ferritin in the deceased compared to surviving regular hemodialysis patients with COVID-19,with a mean difference of 449.43 ng/mL[95%CI(244.07,654.80),P<0.0001;I2=58%,P=0.003].Conclusions:Our study found a higher mean of serum ferritin levels in the deceased compared to surviving regular hemodialysis patients with COVID-19.

Background Pediatric antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis(AAV)is a life-threatening systemic vasculitis featured by liability to renal ***,there are few studies on the risk factors and predictive models for renal outcomes of AAV in *** Data from 179 AAV children in multiple centers between January 2012 and March 2020 were collected *** risk factors and predictive model of end-stage renal disease(ESRD)in AAV were *** renal involvement was the most typical manifestation(95.5%),and the crescent was the predominant pathological lesion(84.9%).The estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)was evaluated in 114 patients,of whom 59.6%developed ESRD,and the median time to ESRD was 3.20 *** eGFR[P=0.006,odds ratio(OR)=0.955,95%confidence interval(CI)=0.924–0.987]and the percentages of global glomerulosclerosis(pGGS;P=0.018,OR=1.060,95%CI=1.010–1.112)were independent risk factors for ESRD of renal *** on the pGGS and eGFR at renal biopsy,we developed three risk grades of ESRD and one predictive *** Kaplan‒Meier curve indicated that renal outcomes were significantly different in different risk grades(Prenal involvement is the most common manifestation of pediatric AAV in China,of which more than half deteriorates into *** predictive model based on eGFR at renal biopsy and the pGGS may be stable and accurate in speculating the risk of ESRD in AAV children.

Distribution of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes in diabetic kidney disease chronic kidney disease 1-5: a correlation study

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the distribution of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes in patients with diabetic kidney disease(DKD) and its related ***: We enrolled 435 patients with DKD, who were not undergoing dialysis, admitted to the department of nephrology, First Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital from April 2020 to August *** of their TCM syndromes and related factors was carried ***: The 435 patients included 109, 117, 86, and 123 chronic kidney disease(CKD) 1-2, CKD3, CKD4, and CKD5 cases, respectively. With the progression of CKD1-5, the proportion of Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome,and that of Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome showed a downward trend, whereas the proportion of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency, blood deficiency, blood stasis, water stagnation, and phlegm turbidity syndromes showed an upward trend; the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome was positively correlated with hemoglobin [odds ratio(OR) =1.022, P = 0.005], albumin(OR = 1.058, P = 0.006), and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)(OR = 1.020,P < 0.001) but negatively correlated with male sex(OR =0.277, P = 0.004). Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome was positively correlated with albumin(OR = 1.056, P < 0.001)and eGFR(OR = 1.008, P = 0.022) but negatively correlated with age(OR = 0.977, P = 0.023). Liver-kidney Yin deficiency syndrome was positively correlated with age(OR = 1.028, P = 0.021) and glycosylated hemoglobin(OR = 1.223, P = 0.007) but negatively correlated with total cholesterol(OR = 0.792, P = 0.006).Spleen-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome was negatively correlated with hemoglobin(OR = 0.977, P < 0.001),albumin(OR = 0.891, P < 0.001), and eGFR(OR = 0.978,P < 0.001) but positively correlated with high density lipoprotein(OR = 3.376, P = 0.001). Study on the occurrence and influencing factors of gastrointestinal symptoms in hemodialysis patients with uremia

Cerebral Glioblastoma in renal Transplant Recipient: A Case Report

Cancers is a leading cause of mortality among transplant recipients. The most common cancers are skin tumors. Glioblastoma is the most frequent brain tumor in adults aged 45 - 70 years. It accounts for 12% - 15% of all intracranial tumors. It is characterized by its rapid development and poor prognosis. We report the case of a cerebral glioblastoma in a kidney transplant recipient. Clinical case: Mr G.R, 44 years old caucasian patient who underwent kidney transplantation. Immunosuppressive treatment included cyclosporine, mycophenolate mofetil and methylprednisolone. Creatinine levels after transplantation remained stable at 11 mg/L (96.8 μmol/l) with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of 77 ml/min/1.73m2 after a 15 years of follow-up. A grade IV right fronto-callossal cerebral glioblastoma was diagnosed in our patient. EBV PCR was negative. Therefore, he underwent 25 sessions of radiotherapy combined with oral chemotherapy using temozolomide. One month later, the patient died due to cerebral edema with subfalcine herniation. Conclusion: This is a case of cerebral glioblastoma in a kidney transplant recipient, a population considered at risk for tumor development due to immunosuppressive treatment. This emphasizes the need for a lifelong surveillance and, more importantly a better balance between graft function preservation and the risks associated with immunosuppressants.
