Pharmacist’s Evaluation of Natural Ingredients in Topical Products for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can lead to chronic pain and joint deformity. First line treatment includes disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) to slow disease progression, but RA patients are often left with debilitating symptoms. This article explores alternative topical and naturally based options to treat RA symptoms, with supporting evidence for their use. Considered options include Aloe vera, Perillyl Alcohol (POH), Aleurites moluccana, Calendula officinalis extract (quercetin), Achyranthes species, Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu, Curcumin (turmeric), Wutou, Radix paeoniae extract (Paeoniflorin), Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TWHF), Capsaicin, Cannabinoids (CBD), and Berberine. Many of these products show promising data for supplemental treatment of RA through various mechanisms, with CBD and TWHF having the most robust evidence supporting their use.

In 2022,the global agricultural market and trade was hit by multiple adverse factors that have been rare in recent *** weather extremes were frequent and strong,bringing about serious damage to agricultural production in some major producing countries;the impact of geopolitical conflicts continued to spill over,leading to a restricted flow of agricultural products and reduced accessibility to the international market;volatility in energy and financial markets increased production and trade costs;and restrictive trade measures on agricultural products repeatedly disrupted market expectations,triggering violent fluctuations in the international market.

Gaia Journeys is a collaborative multimedia musical and virtual reality art performance conceived by author Williams,with the aid of staff at the Denver Museum of Nature&*** by astronauts who spoke of seeing a border-less world from orbit,Gaia Journeys’chief goal was to deliver this experience to museum audiences via photo-realistic virtual depictions of the Earth(from orbit as well as via spherical photographic panoramas taken from the ground)choreographed to live musical *** Journeys took place in the high resolution digital‘fulldome’Gates Planetarium,withWilliams playing the violin and keyboards,enhancing a previously recorded backing track,while visuals were generated with SCISS AB’s *** eight tracks of audio were three-dimensionally spatialised to the 16.4 sound system of the Gates Planetarium,providing an immersive sound experience to match the *** audience feedback was generally positive,with great interest in repeat or similar future *** visitor evaluations suggest the potent power of the new class of digital planetaria for displaying virtual globe datasets to the public,via both multimedia entertainment like Gaia Journeys as well as traditional lectures.

Physiological Changes and Antioxidative Mechanisms of Alternanthera philoxeroides in Phytoremediation of Cadmium

This study evaluated the physiological characteristics(e.g.,growth parameters,chlorophyll content,metabolites and antioxidative enzymes activity)of Alternanthera philoxeroides(***),as a hyperaccumulator plant,during the phytoremediation of cadmium(Cd)from *** cultivating *** in a Cd-containing medium for 30 days,the growth rate was inhibited by up to 33.5%as the exposed Cd concentration increased to 0.80 mmol·L−*** exposure interfered with the photosynthesis of *** and caused oxidative stress as indicated by the rise of malondialdehyde(MDA)and H2O2,which increased by 8 times and 3 times compared to the control ***,high exposure concentrations of Cd also reduced the activities of multiple antioxidants(e.g.,GSH and AsA),indicating the inhibition of Cd on the plant’s ability to mitigate oxidative ***,the fluorescent patterns of the rhizosphere dissolved organic matter(rDOM)revealed three major components(humic,fulvic substances and protein-like substances)well correlated with the changes in antioxidant *** least-squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)visualized the difference in the activity of the antioxidative enzymes between different *** study unravelled deep insights into the potential mechanisms of tolerance and resistance of *** for phytoremediation of Cd pollution.
