Ca-ion batteries(CIBs)have the potential to provide inexpensive energy storage,but their realization is impeded by the lack of suitable *** by recent experimental progress,we perform ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to investigate early decomposition reactions at the anode-electrolyte *** examining different combinations of solvent—tetrahydrofuran(THF)or ethylene carbonate(EC)—and salt—Ca(BH_(4))_(2),Ca(BF_(4))_(2),Ca(BCl_(4))_(2),and Ca(ClO_(4))_(2)—we identify a variety of behavioral trends between electrolyte ***,we perform a separate trajectory with pure THF and gradually increased negative charge;despite an addition of-32e,no THF decomposition is *** analysis reveals that in a reductive environment,THF distributes excess charge evenly across its hydrocarbon backbone,while EC concentrates charge on its ester oxygens and carbonyl carbon,resulting in *** of charge *** for both solvents reveal that EC decomposition products can be reduced by up to five electrons,while those of THF are limited to a single ***,we find Ca(BH4)2 and THF to be the most stable solution investigated herein,corroborating experimental evidence of its suitability as a CIB electrolyte.

Objective:Late-onset hypogonadism,or androgen deficiency in the aging male,is a significant cause of morbidity in older *** men in the low normal or equivocal range for low testosterone level exhibit signs and symptoms of *** testosterone is an imperfect maker for hypogonadism as symptoms vary greatly within the low to low normal range in addition to variations among testosterone *** ultrasound can be effectively used to examine the bulbocavernosus muscle(BCM),an androgenized tissue that may be impacted by androgen receptor ***:This study was a retrospective analysis of men who underwent perineal ultrasound for *** ultrasound data were used to calculate the area of the BCM and correlate it with indices of hypogonadismin symptomatic men including free and total testosterone and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA).Results:The results demonstrate that there is a significant correlation between total and free testosterone and BCM area in hypogonadal *** between BCM area and total testosterone showed R^2=0.061 and p=0.0187 and comparison between BCM area and free testosterone showed R^2=0.0957 and p=*** addition,low BCM was also correlated with DEXA results showing osteoporosis and osteopenia(R^2=0.2239,p=0.0027).Conclusion:There has been recent controversy over the safety of testosterone replacement *** might be particularly important in men with hypogonadal symptoms but a low normal testosterone *** study investigated the use of perineal ultrasound to measure BCM as a surrogate marker for poor androgenized men presenting with hypogonadism.

Prostate cancer(PCa)growth and progression rely on the interaction between the androgen receptor(AR)and the testicular ligands,testosterone and dihydrotestosterone(DHT).Almost all men with advanced PCa receive androgen deprivation therapy(ADT).ADT lowers circulating testosterone levels,which impairs AR activation and leads to PCa ***,ADT is palliative and PCa recurs as castration-recurrent/resistant PCa(CRPC).One mechanism for PCa recurrence relies on intratumoral synthesis of DHT,which can be synthesized using the frontdoor or primary or secondary backdoor *** metabolism inhibitors,such as those targeting 5a-reductase,aldo-keto-reductase family member 3(AKR1C3),or cytochrome P45017A1(CYP17A1)have either failed or produced only modest clinical *** goal of this review is to describe the therapeutic potential of combined inhibition of 5a-reductase and 3a-oxidoreductase enzymes that facilitate the terminal steps of the frontdoor and primary and secondary backdoor pathways for DHT *** of the terminal steps of the androgen metabolism pathways may be a way to overcome the shortcomings of existing androgen metabolism inhibitors and thereby delay PCa recurrence during ADT or enhance the response of CRPC to androgen axis manipulation.

High purity organic-tantalum precursors forthin film ALD TaN were synthesized andcharacterized. Vapor pressure and thermal stabilityof these precursors were studied. From the vaporpressure analysis, it was found that TBTEMT has ahigher vapor pressure than any other published liq-uid TaN precursor, including TBTDET,TAITMATA,and IPTDET. Thermal stability of the alkyl groupson the precursors was investigated using a 1H NMRtechnique. The results indicated that the tert-butylimino group is the most stable group onTBTDET and TBTEMT as compared to thedialkylamido groups. Thermal stability of TaN pre-cursors decreased in the following order: TBTDET> PDMAT > TBTEMT. In conclusion, precursor va-por pressure and thermal stability were tuned bymaking slight variations in the ligand sphere aroundthe metal center.

Between 1853 and 1858, the militia and hired braves of Luhe county, Jiangsu, distinguished themselves by successfully defending against Taiping attack when surrounding counties and cities all fell. The historian Xu Zi （1810-62） served as a militia leader, commanding a company of troops and working to raise funds to pay for provisions. At the same time, he was writing his history of the Southern Ming Courts： Annals of a Fallen State, With Appended Annotations （Xiaotian jinian fukao）. In his history, Xu Zi included anecdotes of his wartime experiences, writing the Taiping War into the history of the Southern Ming. What does history do？ Xu Zi hoped it could help establish and maintain the coherence of the forces fighting the Taiping. To that end, he presented exemplary figures from the past for people of his own time to emulate, and he narrated those stories to his fellow soldiers. At the same time, his work suggests that the practices of the historian--including investigation of sources, expressions of emotion, and evaluation of policy--could provide avenues for defeating the Taiping. By writing himself into his history of the Southern Ming, he showed how the past could become a tool of war.

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is a debilitating,chronic condition characterized by chronic pelvic pain,urinary urgency,and frequency and is well-known to be associated with a decrease in work productivity,emotional changes,sleep,sexual dysfunction,and *** metrics of quality of life(QoL)in this patient population have been developed;however,a unified,standardized approach to QoL in these patients has not been *** effects of IC/BPS and co-morbid conditions on QoL are described using current validated ***,data regarding successful treatment of IC/BPS in terms of QoL improvement are *** QoL is the single most important clinical measure of success in the treatment of patients suffering from IC/BPS,addressing QoL in this patient population remains a significant challenge,as its effects on QoL are highly variable and unable to be differentiated from the effects of comorbid conditions on QoL,including depression,poor sleep,and inability to *** studies will need to address treatment efficacy on the basis of IC/BPS specific QoL metrics,and multi-modal assessment and therapy to address comorbid disease will also play an important role in the future to ensure comprehensive management of these patients.
