Genetic Characteristics of Lipooligosaccharide and Capsular Polysaccharide of Campylobacter jejuni from Different Sources in China

Objective To determine the distribution of two important virulence factors[lipooligosaccharide(LOS)and capsular polysaccharide(CPS)]in Campylobacter jejuni(***)isolated from different sources in China and to develop a rapid screening method for Guillain–Barrésyndrome(GBS)-associated *** Whole-genome sequencing was carried out for 494 *** *** Ortho MCL software was used to define the LOS/CPS gene *** genotyping was performed with serotype-specific sequence alignment using the BLAST ***-time Polymerase chain reaction(PCR)was developed with the unique sequences of specific CPS *** Nine novel and 29 previously confirmed LOS classes were *** classes A,B,and C were the most common(48.2%,238/494)among the 494 ***-six capsular types were identified in 448 ***2,HS4c,HS5/31,HS19,and HS8/17 were the most frequent CPS genotypes(58.7%,263/448).Strains of 17 CPS genotypes(strain number>5)had one or two prevalent LOS classes(P<0.05).Multiplex real-time PCR for rapid identification of HS2,HS19,and HS41 was developed and validated with strains of known *** Our results describe the genetic characteristics of the important virulence factors in *** strains in *** multiplex real-time PCR developed in this study will facilitate enhanced surveillance of GBS-associated strains in China.

water cycle and water quality in the Lake Baiyangdian watershed of the North China Plain have undergone great changes due to over-pumping of groundwater and wastewater *** this paper,hydrogeochemical data was collected to analyze the hydrochemical characteristics and geochemistry evolution of *** study area was divided into two typical *** was in the upstream plain area,where over-pumping had resulted in significant decline of groundwater level;the other one was located in the downstream area near the Fu River and Lake Baiyangdian(Lake BYD region).In addition to the natural weathering of minerals,excessive fertilizer was also a main factor of higher ion concentration in *** to studies,due to good permeability,these regions were easy to be polluted even with deep groundwater ***,upstream shallow groundwater and surface water,including lake water,domestic along with industrial wastewater were all sources of present shallow groundwater in the Lake BYD *** indicated that anthropogenic activities rather than minerals much matter to the groundwater in these ***,wastewater largely decided the groundwater quality,which suggested that the management and restoration of surface water quality was crucial to groundwater protection.

Hospital Stakeholders’ Perception on environmental Effects Related to Biomedical Waste in Togo’s University Hospitals (UHC) in 2021

Introduction: Given its effects, hospital waste is an environmental concern and a threat to health personnel, users of health services and neighboring populations. Our objective was to assess the perception of health care stakeholders on the environmental effects related to biomedical waste produced in Teaching Hospitals (CHU) in Togo in 2021. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study held from June 24 to August 28, 2021. It targeted three university hospitals, 340 health care providers and services selected by a probabilistic method with a simple random technique in 25 services, 72 directors, deputy directors, supervisors and heads of services, 27 collection and incineration agents selected by a non-probabilistic method with a reasoned choice technique, 44 patients and attendants and 36 householders of neighboring residents selected by a non-probabilistic method with an accidental choice technique. Variables such as the spreading of disease vectors, soil, air and water contamination, the presence of unpleasant odors and unsightly living conditions were assessed. Results: According to the respondents, biomedical waste causes the proliferation of vectors (55.3%), an unsightly environment inside the hospital (47.1%), and unpleasant odors (61.2%). Incineration operations disturb hospital residents (52.8%), according to the householders of the residents. During observation, we note deposits of waste that have not been destroyed and wastewater flowing in some places. Conclusion: Biomedical waste in Togo’s university hospitals generates environmental effects and therefore potentially high risks for human health. Improving their management should be a concern for all hospital actors.

Enhanced and irreversible sorption of pesticide pyrimethanil by soil amended with biochars

Biochar derived from partial combustion of vegetation is ubiquitous and potentially effective in sequestration of environmental contaminants. Biochars were prepared by burning of red gum （Eucalyptus spp.） woodchips at 450 and 850℃ （labeled as BC450 and BC850）. These two biochars were found to possess markedly different properties in terms of surface area and porosity. Short-term equilibration tests （24 hr） were conducted to assess the sorption-desorption behavior of pyrimethanil in the soil amended with various amounts of biochar of each type, with a special focus on the desorption behavior of the sorbed pesticide through four times successive desorption by dilution. Sorption coefficient and isotherm nonlinearity of the amended soils progressively increased with the content of biochar in the soil. Biochar BC850 with higher surface area and microporosity showed a stronger effect on the reversibility of sorption pesticide. The soils amended with 5% BC450 and 1% BC850 had nearly the same sorption capacity for pyrimethanil; however, their desorption processes were very different with 13.65% and 1.49% of the sorbed pesticide being released, respectively. This study suggested that biochar in soil could be an important factor for immobilization of a pesticide and thus affecting its environment fate in soil.

A real case study for the transformation of Tropical Storm （TS） Haima （2004） into an extratropical cyclone （EC） is carried out numerically since,after landfall,Haima （2004）（as an EC） brought severe weather to a large area （from the south to the north） in China during 13-16 September *** the linear diagnostic model （derived in a previous study） for the tangentially-averaged radial-vertical circulation within vortices moving on the spherical Earth,Haima＇s （2004） life cycle is reconstructed noticeably ***,the major contributor could be identified confidently for Haima＇s （2004） extratropical transition based on the diagnostic model *** quantitative comparison shows that up to a 90% contribution to the innerregion updraft and a 55% contribution to the upper-layer outflow come from latent heating during Haima＇s （2004） TS *** to a 90% contribution to the inner-region updraft and nearly a 100% contribution to the upper-layer outflow come from the upper-layer eddy angular momentum advection （EAMA） during Haima＇s （2004） EC *** the asymmetric structure of the storm,the predominantly positive contribution of the upper-layer EAMA to Haima＇s （2004） transformation is closely associated with the Sshaped westerlies in the upper layer with two *** jet in the cyclonic-curvature area carries cyclonic angular momentum into the storm,and the other jet in the anticyclonic-curvature area carries anticyclonic angular momentum out of the ***,the newly-increased cyclonic tangential wind is deflected by the Coriolis force to the right to form the upper-layer outflow accompanied by the central-area rising motion,leading to Haima＇s （2004） extratropical transition after its landfall.

A dermatan sulfate （DS） repeating disaccharide analog, β-L-idopyranosiduronate-（1→3）-2-amino-2- deoxy-4,6-di-O-sulfo-β-D-galactopyranoside, has been convergently synthesized and successfully applied to prepare the GAG-functionalized gold glyconanoparticle. This new material exhibited good anti-inflammatory activity which was comparable to that of the drug ibuprofen incarrageenan-induced paw edema in a rat model.

Spatiotemporal Evolution and Influencing Factors of Urban-rural Construction Land in Rural Industrialized Areas in China:Case Studies in Changyuan City and Xinxiang County of Henan Province

Since China’s reform and opening up in 1978,the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization in China had led to dramatic changes in the pattern of urban-rural land *** this paper,we focused on the rural industrialized areas in central China(Xinxiang County and Changyuan City of Henan Province).We used the average nearest neighbor index,spatial statistical analysis,and a structural equation model to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors of urban-rural construction land based on multisource spatial data and survey *** results showed that:1)from 1975 to 2019,the spatial distribution of urban-rural construction land in rural industrialized areas had evolved from homogeneous distribution to local *** terms of comparative analysis of cases,the spatial distribution of urban-rural construction land in Changyuan City had shown a trend from diffusion to agglomeration,and Xinxiang County had overall shown a spatial change from homogenization to agglomeration and then to regional integration development.2)The hot spots with increased urban-rural construction land significantly expanded,and they had a high degree of spatial overlap with industrial *** them,Xinxiang County was concentrated in central and marginal areas,and Changyuan was mainly concentrated in central urban areas.3)From the evolution of spatial proximity of urban-rural construction land,rural industrialized areas generally decline,showing the characteristics of internal differentiation in the rate of change.4)Industrial development,social economy,the policy environment,and urban development played a positive role in promoting the expansion of urban-rural construction land in rural industrialized *** promote the optimal use of regional land and the integrated development of urban-rural areas,we should combine the advantages of regional endowment,formulate development strategies according to local conditions,and adjust the way that land is used in

Antibiotic resistance,which is encoded by antibiotic-resistance genes(ARGs),has proliferated to become a growing threat to public health around the *** technical advances,especially in the popularization of metagenomic sequencing,scientists have gained the ability to decipher the profiles of ARGs in diverse samples with high accuracy at an accelerated *** analyze thousands of ARGs in a highthroughput way,standardized and integrated pipelines are *** new version(v3.0)of the widely used ARGs online analysis pipeline(ARGs-OAP)has made significant improvements to both the reference database-the structured ARG(SARG)database-and the integrated analysis *** has been enhanced with sequence curation to improve annotation reliability,incorporate emerging resistance genotypes,and determine rigorous mechanism *** database has been further organized and visualized online in the format of a tree-like structure with a *** has also been divided into sub-databases for different application *** addition,the ARGs-OAP has been improved with adjusted quantification methods,simplified tool implementation,and multiple functions with userdefined reference ***,the online platform now provides a diverse biostatistical analysis workflow with visualization packages for the efficient interpretation of ARG *** ARGs-OAP v3.0 with an improved database and analysis pipeline will benefit academia,governmental management,and consultation regarding risk assessment of the environmental prevalence of ARGs.

A SAS Macro for Testing Differences among Three or More Independent Groups Using Kruskal-Wallis and Nemenyi Tests
