Investigating spatio-temporal characteristics and influencing factors for green energy consumption in China

The green transformation of energy consumption is beneficial for promoting green development in *** study constructed a green energy consumption evaluation index system and measured the green energy consumption levels in 30 provinces of China from 2000 to 2019 using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation *** study further employed the spatial Durbin model to examine influencing factors and spillover effects of green energy *** results showed that,temporally,China’s green energy consumption levels had a fluctuating upward ***,spatially,the overall levels of green energy consumption in China showed apparent characteristics of“high in the west and low in the east”.In terms of influencing factors,environmental regulations played an important role in promoting green energy consumption in the region,while economic development,opening up,and industrial structure had considerably inhibiting ***,economic development,opening up,and industrial structure of neighboring regions showed marked positive spillover effects,while urbanization level and technological innovation showed substantial negative spillover *** regional heterogeneity test results showed that environmental regulation and industrial structure rationalization were the important factors for promoting green energy consumption in the eastern region,environmental regulation played an important driving role in the central region,and opening to the outside world and technological innovation helped improve the level of green energy consumption in the western region.

Rapid growth of industrial nitrogen fluxes in China: Driving forces and consequences

Human activities are strongly modifying the global nitrogen (N) cycle through increasing input, N species diversity, and pool size of industrial reactive N (Nr). However, the fluxes, fates and environmental consequences of industrial Nr (excluding synthesized N fertilizer) remain poorly understood and quantified. We report here that industrial Nr flux has increased 13.4-fold over the past 30 years in China, reaching 3.7Tg N (1 Tg=10 12g) in 2008, accounting for over 50% of China's food Nr flux. Socioeconomic development (per capita GDP, urbanization and household size) significantly drives the growth of industrial Nr fluxes. This leads to "hotspots" of industrial Nr, mainly in relatively developed Eastern China. Industrial Nr loss rate during production is only 5%, much lower than that of cropland (50%) and livestock (80%). However, industrial Nr loss is point source pollution, and Nr release in concentrated doses produces serious risk in small regions. The contribution of structural N to total industrial Nr with a lifespan longer than one year (e.g., synthetic fiber, plastic) increased from 20% in 1980 to 70% in 2008. There was about 2.6 Tg N structural industrial Nr accumulated in human settlements in 2008, which could be one ex- planation of an unknown Nr sink of anthropogenic Nr input (mainly Haber-Bosch N fixation). Legacy effects caused by structural N accumulation have long-term consequences for environmental and human health, although structural N delays Nr release and reduces short-term Nr pollution. Industrial Nr use generates new features of modern global N biogeochemistry, such as increasing Nr species diversity, reducing Nr turnover rate. Future dynamics simulation of the earth system should involve industrial Nr. Explicit consideration and accounting of the fluxes and environmental consequences of industrial Nr would provide decision-makers a novel view of regional sustainable development.

Analysis of FTA's Potential Economic Effects on China

As part of its further opening-up initiatives for the 13 th Five-Year Plan period(2016-2020), China will accelerate the implementation of free trade agreement strategies and create free trade area networks with high standards-in which the development of mega-regional trade agreements(mega-RTAs) is a key component. This paper creates a large global general equilibrium numerical model system comprising 29 economies, and precisely models the free trade agreements' effects based on the progress of ongoing regional trade agreement negotiations. Then, a counterfactual simulation method is employed to quantitatively evaluate and compare the potential economic effects of China's existing large regional trade agreement negotiations. Simulated results lead to the following findings:(1) All these free trade agreements will increase China's welfare, output, employment and trade. Among them, the trade effect is the strongest, followed by output and employment effects, and welfare effect is relatively small.(2) Other members out of the free trade agreements all benefit. In comparison, smaller and more export-dependent economies benefit more, while China will dominate the negotiations given its comparative gains and contributions.

The Prospects of the Eurasian Economic Union

Russia, after realizing that it will not be truly accepted as a member of the western world, has shifted towards promoting the integration of the Eurasian areas in order to lay the geopolitical foundations for its renewed ambition as a great power. In January 1995, the three countries of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan established a customs union. In March 1996, Kyrgyzstan officially announced that it would be joining the union, and the four-country customs union was established. It was aimed at coordinating the economic reform pace of the four member countries, as well as accelerating economic integration between them. In February 1999, Tajikistan also joined, and in 2000, the aforementioned five countries signed the treaty that transformed the customs union into the Eurasian Economic Community. On May 31, 2001, the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community held its first meeting in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, declaring the official founding of the Community.

资源型经济是以矿产资源开发为动力,以能源、矿产等资源部门为主导的经济体系。在资源丰裕区域,由于制造业部门人力资本投资门槛的存在,容易导致对资源部门的投资偏好。一旦资源部门成为主导部门,便会形成资源部门对经济要素特殊的吸纳效应、资源部门的扩张与延伸使产业家族形成粘滞效应、工业化演进过程中的沉淀成本与路径依赖形成对资源功能的锁定效应,产生发展的路径依赖,陷入资源优势陷阱,从而导致资源型经济的自强机制。突破资源优势陷阱的关键在于打破原有的资源自循环机制和路径依赖,引入学习与创新活动,调整资源收益分配机制,实现产业协调和经济转型发展。

To achieve the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and maintain high-quality economic growth,China is currently striving to improve the quality of development of its power *** this regard,revealing the regional differences and evolutionary trends in the development quality of China’power sector has a high value to inspire the next improvement direction toward how to integrate regional power recourses to an overall optimization *** by this purpose,this paper uses the entropy method to evaluate the com‐prehensive and subsystem indices of the development quality of the power industry,and reveals their re‐gional differences and evolutionary trends with the help of the Dagum Gini coefficient and Kernel density es‐timation *** findings show that:There are obvious regional differences in the development quality of China’s power industry,and the differences are steadily declining in all regions except the *** differences are mainly derived from inter-regional differences,with the largest inter-regional differences in the East-Northeast ***-regional differences show a distribution pattern of East>West>North‐east>center.

Gold Nanoclusters Templated by Poly-cytosine DNA as Fluorescent Probes for Selective and Sensitive Detection of Thiocyanate

Gold nanoclusters(AuNCs) were prepared in the presence of the nucleobases of poly-cytosine DNAs in this paper. We have demonstrated tliat the fluorescence of the AuNCs is quenched by thiocyanate(SCN^-) through the interaction between SCN^- and gold atoms. AuNCs can receive energy from nucleobases to boost their emission intensity, while in the presence of SCN^-, they coordinate with Au atoms and influence the energy transfer between the nucleobases and AuNCs, leading to the fluorescence quenching. The decreased fluorescence intensity was in proportion to the concentration of SCN^- in the range of 8.0×10^-7-1.5×10^-5 mol/L with a limit of detection of 4.2×10^-7 mol/L(3σ). We further validated the practice of this probe througli the detection of SCbT in natural water samples.

High-quality development of China’s power industry: Measurement, spatial pattern, and improvement paths

As the largest manufacturing country,China is striving to improve the development quality of its power industry with the goal of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality,in order to sustain its high-quality economic *** this regard,it is of importance to reveal both the regional development level of China’s power sector and its characteristics in terms of inspiring the next improvement *** by this purpose,this paper constructs an evaluation indicator system from three dimensions at the province level based on the connotation of high-quality development of the power industry(HDPI).Next,it calculates the HDPI indexes of 30 provinces and explore their development trend and spatial *** results indicate that the total comprehensive performance of all regions was improved in general in the recent decade,but the spatial distribution characteristics of clean,low-carbon,safe and efficient are *** the aspects of improvement space in future,not only do actively ameliorate the related management regimes or technical fields so as to improve the corresponding indicators’value,but also passively rely on the macro-development such as China’s urbanization level improvement,technological level improvement,and industrial structure upgrading as usual.
