Many lakes in Southeastern Wisconsin(the metropolitan-Milwaukee area) are gradually becoming increasingly "salty".While these waterbodies would not be considered presently to be saline lakes,there has been a rapid increase in the chloride concentrations in most of these lakes over the last 30 years,with the lakes increasing from a mean chloride concentration of about 19 mg/L to over 100 mg/L in some *** ecological impacts can be expected when chloride values exceed 250 mg/L,the rate of increase presents a basis for concern,especially since the underlying geology of the region is based on limestone/dolomite which is deficient in ***,the origin of the chlorides is anthropogenic:human and industrial wastewaters(treatment of which has effected improvements in trophic status but has not affected other water-borne contaminants) and winter de-icing practices based upon large quantities of sodium chloride are major contributors to the increasing concentrations of chloride in the region's *** taking remedial measures,the rate of salinization is expected to continue to increase,resulting,ultimately,in the alteration of the freshwater systems in the region.

Microorganisms are key actors in soil ***,their activity is influenced by various factors including agricultural *** study aimed to assess the effects of 4 agroecological practices on soil microbiological activity in the Sudano-Sahelian area of Burkina *** practices involved(a)the use of organic matter(OM)spread over a plot,with and without micro-dose mineral fertilization and(b)the localized application of organic manure in planting pits dug into hard pan land(zaï),with and without cereal-legume *** biomass(MB)by fumigation-extraction and soil respiration by incubation-extraction were measured on 40 soil samples,taken at 0-10 cm *** results indicated higher cumulative values of carbon from respiration on plots with generalized application of OM,with and without mineral fertilizers(113 and 111 mg C-CO_(2)/kg soil respectively),than on plots with localized application,with and without cereal-legume rotation(72.9 and 98 mg C-CO_(2)/kg soil respectively).MB follows the same trend as soil respiration with lower values(21.9 to 50.9 mg C/kg soil respectively).Generalized application of OM with or without mineral fertilizers was more favorable to soil microbial activity.

The experiments were conducted at the Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna, Bangladesh during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 crop seasons to determine the economic viability of planting legumes for both vegetable and forage purposes in the fallow period between monsoon-rice and spring-rice. The objectives were to ensure better land utilization, break up the mono cropping, improve soil health, and generate extra-income for small and resource-poor farmers of Bangladesh. Crop compositions used in the experiments were monsoon-rice （cv. BRRIdhan-32, BRRldhan-39 and BINAdhan-4） followed by pulses （grasspea, chickpea and field pea） followed by spring-rice （cv. BRRldhan-28, BRRldhan-29 and BINAdhan-6）. Based on the data from two years in a pooled analyses, it was observed that monsoon-rice variety BINAdhan-4, followed by field pea （as vegetable ＆ forage） and spring-rice variety BINAdhan-6 produced the highest yields of 5.0 t ha-1 rice grain, 3.25 t ha1 （green vegetable）＋ 18.1 t hal （forage） legumes and 7.8 t ha~ rice grain, respectively. The cropping pattern of monsoon-rice （BINAdhan-4）-field pea （as vegetable ＋ forage）-spring-rice （BINAdhan-6） gave the highest net return of USD$1,705 hal year-~ compared to other patterns with different rice varieties and chickpea and grasspea. This is a new finding, and is being practiced by farmers of Bangladesh who have enhanced their farm income substantially. This has also generated job opportunities for rural women to pick the green vegetable of field pea.

MRI （Magnetic Resonance Imaging） usage tends to be rapidly increasing over the last decades in clinical applications. Although MRI service is a powerful and very useful diagnostic tool for the doctors, it is very expensive. This research paper concerns the economic cost of the NGH （Nicosia General Hospital） MRI Department for the calendar year 2015. Data were collected and analysed through triangulate data collection methods. Research methods include empirical observation, interviews and secondary data analysis. Calculations were made by the bottom-up method. The total cost for the MRI department for the year 2015 was 434,987.52. The external services bought from private sector in order to eliminate waiting list cost 1,071,803. In case NHIS （National Health Insurance System） was implemented in 2015 possible incomes should be 1,412,152. Nicosia General Hospital MRI department balance in case NHIS was implemented in 2015 was 94,638.52 loss. The negative result strongly supports that there is space for improvement in the MRI department. Our research suggests that changes must be done in the management of the MRI Department. Implementation of TQM （Total Quality Management） method could reduce the cost of the aforementioned diagnostic department. This work is the first cost study for the NGH MRI Department and could be used as a reference and give basic costing data for MRI service to healthcare policy makers.

Production of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is often limited by the low availability of soil phosphorus (P). Identification of common bean genotypes adapted to low phosphorus (P) availability may be a feasible strategy to overcome the poor plant growth and production in P-deficient soils. Genetic variation for P response of thirteen common bean genotypes was studied under screen house controlled conditions using triple super phosphate as P source. The common bean genotypes varied in leaf area, shoot mass, root mass, total root length, basal and lateral roots production, shoot P concentration and P uptake under phosphorous deficiency and high phosphorous. All the measured variables were significantly correlated with each other, which in turn were correlated to P uptake. Generally the large-seeded genotypes RWR 1946 and RWR 2075 appeared to have the best growth, hence superior P efficiency under low P availability, while at the same time they were more responsive to added P. These results complement the earlier field based observed tolerance to low soil phosphorous of the selected genotypes under the BILFA strategy.

A detailed discussion of existing three kinds of mathematical models of heavy metal pollutant transport-transformation in fluvial rivers is presented, with an emphasis on the mathematical model of heavy metal pollutant transport-transformation dynamics. The imperfection of two kinds of mathematical models, that is, mathematical model of chemical thermodynamic equilibrium and that of chemical reaction kinetics, and the shortcoming of existing mathematical models of heavy metal pollutant transport-transformation dynamics are pointed out. Furthermore, the structure of mathematical model of heavy metal pollutant transport-transformation dynamics in fluvial rivers is suggested. Equations in the mathematical model of heavy metal pollutant transport-transformation dynamics in fluvial rivers will be discussed in the following paper.
