Sleep disturbances are among the most prevalent neuropsychiatric symptoms in individuals who have recovered from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 *** studies have demonstrated abnormal brain structures in patients with sleep disturbances who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,neuroimaging studies on sleep disturbances caused by COVID-19 are scarce,and existing studies have primarily focused on the long-term effects of the virus,with minimal acute phase *** a result,little is known about the pathophysiology of sleep disturbances in the acute phase of *** address this issue,we designed a longitudinal study to investigate whether alterations in brain structure occur during the acute phase of infection,and verified the results using 3-month follow-up data.A total of 26 COVID-19 patients with sleep disturbances(aged 51.5±13.57 years,8 women and 18 men),27 COVID-19 patients without sleep disturbances(aged 47.33±15.98 years,9 women and 18 men),and 31 age-and gender-matched healthy controls(aged 49.19±17.51 years,9 women and 22 men)were included in this *** COVID-19 patients with sleep disturbances were included in a longitudinal *** found that COVID-19 patients with sleep disturbances exhibited brain structural changes in almost all brain *** cortical thicknesses of the left pars opercularis and left precuneus were significantly negatively correlated with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index ***,we observed changes in the volume of the hippocampus and its subfield regions in COVID-19 patients compared with the healthy *** 3-month follow-up data revealed indices of altered cerebral structure(cortical thickness,cortical grey matter volume,and cortical surface area)in the frontal-parietal cortex compared with the baseline in COVID-19 patients with sleep *** findings indicate that the sleep disturbances patients had altered morphology in the cortical an

Spatial memory is crucial for survival within external surroundings and wild *** hippocampus,a critical hub for spatial learning and memory formation,has received extensive investigations on how neuromodulators shape its functions(Teixeira et al.,2018;Zhang et al.,2024).However,the landscape of neuromodulations in the hippocampal system remains poorly understood because most studies focus on classical monoamine neuromodulators,such as acetylcholine,serotonin,dopamine,and *** neuropeptides,comprising the most abundant neuromodulators in the central nervous system,play a pivotal role in neural information processing in the hippocampal ***(CCK),one of the most abundant neuropeptides,has been implicated in regulating various physiological and neurobiological statuses(Chen et al.,2019).CCK-A receptor(CCK-AR)and CCK-B receptors(CCK-BR)are two key receptors mediating the biological functions of CCK,both of which belong to class-A sevenfold transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors(Nishimura et al.,2015).CCK-AR preferentially reacts to sulfated CCK,whereas CCK-BR binds both CCK and gastrin with similar affinities(Ding et al.,2022).The expression patterns of CCK-AR and CCK-BR are distinct,implying that CCK has various functions in target *** instance,CCK-AR is widely expressed in the GI and brain subregions and is hence implicated in the control of digestive function and satiety ***,CCK-BR is abundantly and widely distributed in the central nervous system,which majorly regulates anxiety,learning,and memory(Ding et al.,2022).However,the roles of endogenous CCK and CCK receptors in regulating hippocampal function at electrophysiological and behavioral levels have received less attention.

Association of stent thrombectomy and conventional treatment with neuroprotection, complications, anxiety, and depression in acute ischemic stroke patients

Increase in the variability of terrestrial carbon uptake in response to enhanced future ENSO modulation

El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)is a major driver of climate change in middle and low latitudes and thus strongly influences the terrestrial carbon cycle through land-air *** the ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability are projected to increase in the future,but their connection still needs further *** investigate the impact of future ENSO modulation on carbon flux variability,this study used 10 CMIP6 earth system models to analyze ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability in middle and low latitudes,and their relationship,under different scenarios simulated by CMIP6 *** results show a high consistency in the simulations,with both ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability showing an increasing trend in the *** higher the emissions scenario,especially SSP5-8.5 compared to SSP2-4.5,the greater the increase in *** flux variability in the middle and low latitudes under SSP2-4.5 increases by 30.9%compared to historical levels during 1951-2000,while under SSP5-8.5 it increases by 58.2%.Further analysis suggests that ENSO influences mid-and low-latitude carbon flux variability primarily through *** occurrence may potentially be attributed to the increased responsiveness of gross primary productivity towards regional temperature fluctuations,combined with the intensified influence of ENSO on land surface temperatures.

Statistical analysis on energy field of seismicity in Ningxia and its neighborhood region

The random function theory is used in the paper. Taking the regional seismicity energy as the random function of space and time, the features of small seismicity field in Ningxia and its neighborhood region are studied by the analytical method of natural orthogonal function expansion. The chief part of the field, i.e., the temporal changes of time weight coefficients of first several typical fields is analyzed. We have found that their values had upward and downward changes of a large amplitude before moderate-strong earthquakes and showed variation features correlating to moderate-strong earthquakes occurred in the region and its surrounding areas. From the earthquake examples in Ningxia region, we can make the conclusion that the method of natural orthogonal function expansion of earthquake energy stochastic field is an earthquake analysis and prediction method that is worth further exploration.

Characterization and modeling of long-term stress-strain behavior of water confined pre-saturated gypsum rock in Kurdistan region,Iraq

In order to understand the effects of soaking time and confined water pressure on the strength of rock due to dissolution of gypsum,rock samples with 96% of gypsum content collected from Kurdistan region in northern Iraq were *** tests were then performed on the normal gypsum rock samples under pre-saturated condition to obtain their uniaxial compressive strength(UCS) *** pre-saturated samples were submerged in distilled water for 35 d,70 d and 105 d,respectively,under confined water pressures of 0-0.5 *** gypsum content decreased by 11% after 105 d of soaking under confined water pressure of 0.5 *** UCS of the normal gypsum rock was 19.6 MPa and it decreased to 6.3 MPa and 2 MPa after 105 d of soaking under confined water pressures of 0 and 0.5 MPa,respectively.A nonlinear constitutive model was used to simulate the experimental stress-strain relationships of rock samples under various *** constitutive model parameters were sensitive to the gypsum content.
