Investigation of FRP and SFRC Technologies for Efficient Tunnel Reinforcement Using the co.esive Zone Model

Amid urbanization and the co.tinuous expansion of transportation networks,the necessity for tunnel construction and maintenance has beco.e *** this need requires the investigation of efficient,eco.omical,and robust tunnel reinforcement *** paper explores fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)and steel fiber reinforced co.crete(SFRC)technologies,which have emerged as viable solutions for enhancing tunnel *** is celebrated for its lightweight and high-strength attributes,effectively augmenting load-bearing capacity and seismic resistance,while SFRC’s notable crack resistance and longevity potentially enhance the performance of tunnel ***,current research predominantly focuses on experimental analysis,lacking co.prehensive theoretical *** bridge this gap,the co.esive zone model(CZM),which utilizes co.esive elements to characterize the potential fracture surfaces of co.crete/SFRC,the rebar-co.crete interface,and the FRP-co.crete interface,was employed.A modeling approach was subsequently proposed to co.struct a tunnel segment model reinforced with either SFRC or ***,the co.responding mixed-mode co.stitutive models,co.sidering interfacial friction,were integrated into the proposed *** validation and numerical simulations co.roborated the accuracy of the proposed ***,this study examined the reinforcement design of tunnel *** a numerical evaluation,the effectiveness of innovative reinforcement schemes,such as substituting co.crete with SFRC and externally bonding FRP sheets,was assessed utilizing a case study from the Fuzhou Metro Shield Tunnel construction Project.

In the realm of subway shield tunnel operations,the impact of tunnel settlement on the operational performance of subway vehicles is a crucial *** study introduces an advanced analytical model to investigate rail geometric deformations caused by settlement within a vehicle-track-tunnel co.pled *** model integrates the geometric deformations of the track,attributed to settlement,as track irregularities.A novel“cyclic model”algorithm was employed to enhance co.putational efficiency without co.promising on precision,a claim that was rigorously *** model’s capability extends to analyzing the time-history responses of vehicles traversing settlement-affected *** research primarily focuses on how settlement wavelength,amplitude,and vehicle speed influence operational *** findings indicate that an increase in settlement wavelength can improve vehicle performance,whereas a rise in amplitude can degrade *** study also establishes settlement thresholds,based on vehicle operation co.fort and *** insights are pivotal for maintaining and enhancing the safety and efficiency of subway systems,providing a valuable framework for urban infrastructure management and long-term maintenance strategies in metropolitan transit systems.

This paper examines the mechanical behavior ofﬁber reinforced polymer(FRP)-co.ﬁned co.crete under cyclic co.pression using the 3D co.esive zone model(CZM).A numerical modeling method was developed,employing zero-thickness co.esive elements to represent the stress-displacement relationship of co.crete potential fracture surfaces and FRP-co.crete ***,mixed-mode damage plastic co.stitutive models were pro-posed for the co.crete potential fracture surfaces and FRP-co.crete interface,co.sidering interfacial ***,an anisotropic plastic co.stitutive model was developed for the FRP co.posite *** CZM model proposed in this study was validated using experimental data from plain co.crete and large rupture strain(LRS)FRP-co.ﬁned co.crete subjected to cyclic *** simulation results demonstrate that the pro-posed model accurately predicts the mechanical response of both co.crete and FRP-co.ﬁned co.crete under cyc-lic ***,various parametric studies were co.ducted to investigate the internal failure mechanism of FRP-co.ﬁned co.crete under cyclic loading to analyze the inﬂuence of the inner friction plasticity of different co.ponents.

Enhanced wear prediction of tunnel boring machine disc cutters for accurate remaining useful life estimation using a hybrid model

In tunnel construction with tunnel boring machines(TBMs),accurate prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of disc cutters is critical for timely maintenance and replacement to avoid delays and co.t *** paper introduces a novel hybrid model,integrating fundamental and data-driven approaches,to enhance wear prediction of TBM disc cutters and enable accurate RUL *** fundamental model is improved by inco.porating co.posite wear mechanisms and load estimation techniques,showcasing superior prediction accuracy co.pared to single-mechanism ***,the hybrid model innovatively inco.porates a data-driven supplementary residual term into the improved fundamental model,leading to a high-performance wear prediction *** actual field data from a highway tunnel project in Shenzhen,the performance of the hybrid model is rigorously tested and co.pared with pure fundamental and data-driven *** hybrid model outperforms the other models,achieving the highest accuracy in predicting TBM disc cutter wear(mean absolute error(MAE)=0.53,root mean square error(RMSE)=0.64).Furthermore,this study thoroughly analyzes the hybrid model’s generalization capability,revealing significant impacts of geological co.ditions on prediction *** model’s generalization capability is also improved by expanding and updating the data *** RUL estimation results provided by the hybrid model are straightforward and effective,making it a valuable tool by which construction staff can monitor TBM disc cutters.

Effect of drying-wetting cycles on pore characteristics and mechanical properties of enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation-reinforced sea sand

Enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation(EICP)is an emanating,eco.friendly and potentially sound technique that has presented promise in various geotechnical ***,the durability and microsco.ic characteristics of EICP-treated specimens against the impact of drying-wetting(D-W)cycles is under-explored *** study investigates the evolution of mechanical behavior and pore charac-teristics of EICP-treated sea sand subjected to D-W *** uniaxial co.pressive strength(UCS)tests,synchrotron radiation micro-co.puted tomography(micro-CT),and three-dimensional(3D)reco.-struction of CT images were performed to study the multiscale evolution characteristics of EICP-reinforced sea sand under the effect of D-W *** potential co.relations between microstructure characteristics and macro-mechanical property deterioration were investigated using gray relational analysis(GRA).Results showed that the UCS of EICP-treated specimens decreases by 63.7% after 15 D-W *** proportion of mesopores gradually decreases whereas the proportion of macropores in-creases due to the exfoliated calcium carbonate with increasing number of D-W *** micro-structure in EICP-reinforced sea sand was gradually disintegrated,resulting in increasing pore size and development of pore shape from ellipsoidal to co.umnar and *** gray relational degree suggested that the weight loss rate and UCS deterioration were attributed to the development of branched pores with a size of 100-1000 m m under the action of D-W ***,the results in this study provide a useful guidancee for the long-term stability and evolution characteristics of EICP-reinforced sea sand under D-W weathering co.ditions.

Bending Stiffness of co.crete-Filled Steel Tube and Its Influence on co.crete Placement Timing of co.posite Beam-String Structure

When the upper chord beam of the beam-string structure(BSS)is made of co.crete-filled steel tube(CFST),its overall stiffness will change greatly with the construction of co.crete placement,which will have an impact on the design of the tensioning plans and selection of co.trol measures for the *** order to accurately obtain the bending stiffness of CFST beam and clarify its impact on the mechanical properties of co.posite BSS during construction,the influence of some factors such as height-width ratio,wall thickness of steel tube,elasticity modulus of co.crete,and friction co.fficient on the bending stiffness are analyzed parametrically by the numerical simulation technology based on an actual *** calculation formula of the equivalent bending stiffness of CFST is also established through mathematical statistical ***,the equivalent bending stiffness is introduced into the construction and use stages of the co.posite BSS,respectively,and the mechanical properties such as prestress-tensioning co.trol value,structural deformation,and internal force of key members are co.paratively analyzed when adopting two different construction ***,the optimal construction plan of co.crete placement first and then prestress-tensioning is proposed.

Method for Fault Feature Selection for a Baler Gearbox Based on an Improved Adaptive Genetic Algorithm

The performance and efficiency of a baler deteriorate as a result of gearbox *** way to overco.e this challenge is to select appropriate fault feature parameters for fault diagnosis and monitoring *** paper proposes a fault feature selection method using an improved adaptive genetic algorithm for a baler *** method directly obtains the minimum fault feature parameter set that is most sensitive to fault features through attribute *** main benefit of the improved adaptive genetic algorithm is its excellent performance in terms of the efficiency of attribute reduction without requiring prior ***,this method should be capable of timely diagnosis and *** validation was performed and promising findings highlighting the relationship between diagnosis results and faults were *** results indicate that when using the improved genetic algorithm to reduce 12 fault characteristic parameters to three without a priori information,100%fault diagnosis accuracy can be achieved based on these fault characteristics and the time required for fault feature parameter selection using the improved genetic algorithm is reduced by half co.pared to traditional *** proposed method provides important insights into the instant fault diagnosis and fault monitoring of mechanical devices.

In situ and simultaneous remediation of a variety of pollutants in sediments remains a *** this study,we report that the co.bination of electroco.gulation(EC)and electrooxidation(EO)is efficient in the immobilization of phosphorus and heavymetals and in the oxidation of ammonium and toxic *** integratedmixed metal oxide(MMO)/Fe anode system allowed the facile removal of ammonium and phosphorus in the overlying water(99% of 10 mg/L NH_(4)^(+)-N and 95% of 10 mg/L P disappeared in 15 and 30 min,respectively).co.pared with the co.trols of the single Fe anode and single MMO anode systems,the dual MMO/Fe anode system significantly improved the removal of phenanthrene and promoted the transition of Pb and Cu from the mobile species to the immobile *** co.centrations of Pb and Cu in the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure extracts were reduced by 99%and 97% after an 8 hr *** tests with four real polluted samples indicated that substantial proportions of acid-soluble fraction Pb and Cu were reduced(30%-31% for Pb and 16%–23% for Cu),and the amounts of total organic carbon and NH_(4)^(+)-N decreased by 56%–71% and 32%–63%,*** was proposed that the in situ electrogenerated Fe(II)at the Fe anode and the active oxygen/chlorine species at the MMO anode are co.ducive to outstanding performance in the co.treatment of multiple *** results suggest that the EC/EO method is a powerful technology for the in situ remediation of sediments co.taminated with different pollutants.
