BACKgROUND The incidence of diabetes mellitus type 1(DM1)has been rising worldwide because of improvements in diagnostic techniques and improved access to care in countries with lower socioeconomic status.A new anti-CD4 antibody,Teplizumab,has been shown to delay the progression of DM1 and is the only medication approved for this ***,more information is needed about the safety profile of this *** To identify the odds ratios(OR)of systems-based adverse effects for Teplizumab when compared to *** An extensive systematic review was conducted from the inception of the medication until December 31,*** clinical trials and studies that evaluated Teplizumab vs placebo were included in the initial *** study protocol was designed using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO(ID:CRD42024496169).Crude OR were generated using RevMan Software version *** After screening and review,5 studies were selected to determine the risk of adverse effects of teplizumab compared to placebo.A total of 561 patients were included in the study *** adverse effects and system-based adverse effects were studied and *** determined that patients receiving Teplizumab had a higher risk of developing gastrointestinal(gI)(OR=1.60,95%CI:1.01-2.52,P=0.04),dermatological(OR=6.33,95%CI:4.05-9.88,Pgical adverse effects(OR=19.03,95%CI:11.09-32.66,Pgnificantly likely to have active Epstein-Barr Virus infection(OR=3.16,95%CI:1.51-6.64,Pg Teplizumab did have a higher incidence of total adverse effects vs placebo,this finding did not reach statistical significance(OR=2.25,95%CI:0.80-6.29,P=0.12).CONCLUSION Our systematic review suggests that Teplizumab patients are at risk for significant adverse effects,primarily related to gI,dermatological,and hematolog

Relevance of Medical Imaging in the Pre-Therapeutic Evaluation of Acute Intestinal Obstruction at CIMED

Objective: We initiated this work with the aim of studying the contribution of imaging in the diagnosis of acute intestinal obstruction at CIMED. Patients and methods: This was a prospective, descriptive and analytical study involving 96 patients collected at the radiology and medical imaging department of CIMED, from January 2022 to January 2023. Result: The age of our patients varied between 11 and 86 years with an average age of 36 years. There was a male predominance of 64.6% compared to 35.4% for women, i.e. a sex ratio of 1.82. The notion of previous surgery was found in 61.5% of our patients. Pain was present in all patients. Radiography of the ASP was performed in 89.6% of patients. It showed hydro-aerial levels in 96.5% of patients. Abdominopelvic CT was performed in 12 patients and made it possible to make the diagnosis of occlusion in all patients. The results of the positive diagnosis were concordant with those intraoperatively in 92% of cases. 8% of our patients, compared to the treatment, spontaneously resumed their transit, 91% benefited from surgical treatment and 1% died before surgery. The outcome was favorable in 80 patients or 83.3%, poor with death in 16 patients or 16.7% of cases. Conclusion: Acute intestinal obstruction remains a serious pathology for which ASP radiography often remains the only radiological examination performed urgently. However, abdominopelvic CT seems widely indicated thanks to its contribution both for the positive diagnosis and for the serious and etiological diagnoses. However, this imaging technique is largely underused in our practice due to its high cost and lack of availability.

3-Dimensional Kinematic Comparison of Arm Movements between an Individual with NgLY1 Deficiency and a Neurotypical Individual

NgLY1 Deficiency is an ultra-rare autosomal recessively inherited disorder. Characteristic symptoms include among others, developmental delays, movement disorders, liver function abnormalities, seizures, and problems with tear formation. Movements are hyperkinetic and may include dysmetric, choreo-athetoid, myoclonic and dystonic movement elements. To date, there have been no quantitative reports describing arm movements of individuals with NgLY1 Deficiency. This report provides quantitative information about a series of arm movements performed by an individual with NgLY1 Deficiency and an aged-matched neurotypical participant. Three categories of arm movements were tested: 1) open ended reaches without specific end point targets;2) goal-directed reaches that included grasping an object;3) picking up small objects from a table placed in front of the participants. Arm movement kinematics were obtained with a camera-based motion analysis system and “initiation” and “maintenance” phases were identified for each movement. The combination of the two phases was labeled as a “complete” movement. Three-dimensional analysis techniques were used to quantify the movements and included hand trajectory pathlength, joint motion area, as well as hand trajectory and joint jerk cost. These techniques were required to fully characterize the movements because the NgLY1 individual was unable to perform movements only in the primary plane of progression instead producing motion across all three planes of movement. The individual with NgLY1 Deficiency was unable to pick up objects from a table or effectively complete movements requiring crossing the midline. The successfully completed movements were analyzed using the above techniques and the results of the two participants were compared statistically.
