Microbiota in colorectal cancer related to liver metastasis

The prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) is increasing annually and metastasis is the principal cause of death in patients with CRC, with the liver being the most frequently affected site. Many studies have shown a strong interplay between the gut flora, particularly Fusobacterium nucleatum(F. nucleatum), Escherichia coli, and Bacteroides fragilis, and the development of gut tumors. Some strains can induce gut inflammation and produce toxins that directly harm gut epithelial cells, ultimately accelerating the onset and progression of CRC. However,little clinical evidence exists on the specific interplay between the gut microflora and colorectal cancer liver metastasis(CRLM). Some research showed the existence of viable F. nucleatum in distant metastasis of ***, gut microbiota products, such as lipopolysaccharides, sodium butyrate, and protein cathepsin K, were also found to affect the development of CRC. This article summarizes the mechanism and research status of the interplay between gut microflora and CRLM, discusses the importance of gut microflora in the treatment of CRLM, and proposes a new approach to understanding the mechanism of CRLM and potential treatments for the microbiome. It is anticipated that the gut microbiota will be a formidable therapeutic and prophylactic tool for treating and preventing CRLM.

Cuproptosis is a newly discovered type of programmed cell death that involves the depletion of intracellular copper and is not influenced by other inhibitors of programmed cell *** modality was first identified and named by Tsvetkov et al in the previous year.1 To further explore the relationship between cuproptosis,the tumor microenvironment,immunotherapy,and prognosis for breast cancer(BC),the expression patterns of 19 cuproptosis-related long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)were determined using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA).

Single isocenter multiple target stereotactic radiosurgery (SIMT-SRS) has potentially emerged as a new pillar in radio-immune combination therapy for the management of brain metastasis. Accuracy and efficiency are pushed to a higher level in the era of the linear accelerator-based SIMT-SRS. This short review focuses on patient selection, image preparation, patient simulation, electronic portal imaging device (EPID) QA, and the patient treatment process in the SIMT-SRS treatment only. Image-relevant recommendations and guidelines are presented and contrast application, acquisition efficiency, and alignment accuracy of CT and MRI images are explored. With guidance, the SIMT-SRS can be implemented with high precision and efficiency. 1 mm or 0.5 mm and non-uniform PTV margin expansion for all targets would become possible. It will enhance cancer killing effect in radio-immune combination therapy. General routine daily, monthly, and annual linear accelerator image quality assurances are excluded.

Objective Cardiovascular diseases(CVD)are one of the most prevalent diseases in India amounting for nearly 30%of total deaths.A dearth of research on CVD risk scores in Indian population,limited performance of conventional risk scores and inability to reproduce the initial accuracies in randomised clinical trials has led to this study on large-scale patient *** objective is to develop an Artificial Intelligence-based Risk Score(AICVD)to predict CVD event(eg,acute myocardial infarction/acute coronary syndrome)in the next 10 years and compare the model with the Framingham Heart Risk Score(FHRS)and *** Our study included 31599 participants aged 18–91 years from 2009 to 2018 in six Apollo Hospitals in India.A multistep risk factors selection process using Spearman correlation coefficient and propensity score matching yielded 21 risk factors.A deep learning hazards model was built on risk factors to predict event occurrence(classification)and time to event(hazards model)using multilayered neural ***,the model was validated with independent retrospective cohorts of participants from India and the Netherlands and compared with FHRS and *** The deep learning hazards model had a good performance(area under the curve(AUC)0.853).Validation and comparative results showed AUCs between 0.84 and 0.92 with better positive likelihood ratio(AICVD−6.16 to FHRS−2.24 and QRisk3−1.16)and accuracy(AICVD−80.15%to FHRS 59.71%and QRisk351.57%).In the Netherlands cohort,AICVD also outperformed the Framingham Heart Risk Model(AUC−0.737 vs 0.707).Conclusions This study concludes that the novel AI-based CVD Risk Score has a higher predictive performance for cardiac events than conventional risk scores in Indian population.
