this article explores the Chinese literature on Chinese higher educational leadership in order to contribute to the international literature generally and facilitate Chinese higher education leadership research in *** seven themes identified in this literature are:the president accountability system led by the Communist Party of China(CPC)party committee;leadership team construction in universities and colleges;the common characteristics of university presidents in China;the accomplishments of university presidents;the relationship between university development and presidents’accomplishments the selection mechanism for university presidents;and the professionalization of governance and the professionalism of university *** research directions are also discussed in order to contribute the research in this area.

nanozyme catalysis has been mainly focused on a few chromogenic and fluorogenic substrates, while environmentally and biologically important compounds need to be tested to advance the field. In this work, we studied oxidation of estradiol(E2) in the presence of various nanomaterials including gold nanoparticles(AunPs), nanoceria(CeO2), Fe3O4, Fe2O3, MnO2 and Mn2O3, and found that AunPs had a dehydrogenase-mimicking activity to convert E2 to estrone(E1). this conversion was monitored using HPLC. the reaction was faster at higher pH and reached saturation at pH 8. Smaller AunPs had a higher catalytic efficiency and 5 nm AunPs were 4.8-fold faster than 13 nm at the same total surface area. Finally,we tried 17α-ethinylestradiol(EE2) as a substrate and found that 5 nm AunPs can catalyze EE2 oxidation in the presence of H2O2. this work indicated that some nanomaterials can affect environmentally important hormones via oxidation reactions, and this study has expanded the scope of substrate of nanozymes.

Continual reduction in sequencing cost is expanding the accessibility of genome sequencing data for routine clinical ***,the lack of methods to construct machine learning-based predictive models using these datasets has become a crucial bottleneck for the application of sequencing technology in ***,we develop a new algorithm,etumorMetastasis,which transforms tumor functional mutations into network-based profiles and identifies network operational gene(nOG)*** signatures model the tipping point at which a tumor cell shifts from a state that doesn’t favor recurrence to one that *** show that nOG signatures derived from genomic mutations of tumor founding clones(i.e.,the‘most recent common ancestor’of the cells within a tumor)significantly distinguish the recurred and non-recurred breast tumors as well as outperform the most popular genomic test(i.e.,Oncotype DX).these results imply that mutations of the tumor founding clones are associated with tumor recurrence and can be used to predict clinical *** such,predictive tools could be used in clinics to guide treatment ***,the concepts underlying the etumorMetastasis pave the way for the application of genome sequencing in predictions for other complex genetic *** pseudocode and related data used in this study are available at https://***/WangEdwinLab/etumorMetastasis.

the modified normal form approach presented by ZHAnG Wei-yi, K Huseyin and CHEn Yu-shu is further extended and a different procedure is introduced which lends itself readily to symbolic calculations, like MAPLE. this provides a number of significant advantages over the previous approach, and facilitates the associated calculations. to illustrate the new approach, three examples are presented.

For more than a century, important civil engineering structures such as bridges, high-rise buildings, dams and marine platforms have contained iron or steel as the reinforcement for concrete or wood (ISIS Canada Strategic Plan, 2000). the useful lives of such structures have often been severely limited by the corrosion of this ferrous component. Much thought has been given in recent years to constructing structures that are lighter, stronger and non-corrosive. these innovative structures are new and for these to be accepted by the engineering community monitoring is mandatory. ISIS Canada has been developing such structures and monitoring them. In this paper, innovative bridge decks that have been implemented is described.

to study the shear behavior of the ultrafine magnetite tailings subjected to freeze-thaw cycles,unconsolidated-undrained shear tests were conducted on ultrafine-grained tailings that were subjected to 1-11 cycles of freeze-thaw and defined as a type of clayey silt under confining pressures of 100,200,and 300 *** the number of freeze-thaw cycles,cooling temperature,initial dry density,and moisture content as the four main influencing factors of shear behavior of the tailings samples,the shear stress-strain curve,compression modulus,failure strength,cohesion,and internal friction angle were *** results show that the freeze-thaw cycle has an obvious weakening effect on the shear behavior of the tailings material,and the shear mechanical parameters are affected by a combination of confining pressure,freeze-thaw cycle condition,and initial physical-mechanical properties of the tailings *** the microstructural analysis of the tailings samples subjected to freeze-thaw cycles,it shows that the freeze-thaw cycle mainly affects the porosity,bound water,and arrangement of the tailings ***,the macroscopic changes in shear strength indexes emerge,and then the stability of the tailings dam will decrease.

the cystine/glutamate exchanger(xCt,SLC7 A11)is a component of the system X_c amino-acid antiporter that is able to export glutamate and import cysteine into *** xCt amino acid exchanger has received a lot of attention,due to the fact that cysteine is an essential substrate for the synthesis of glutathione(GSH),an endogenous antioxidant in *** objective of this research was to clone the full-length cDnA of chicken xCt,and to investigate the gene expression of xCt in different tissues,including intestinal segments of broiler chickens during *** full-length cDnA of chicken xCt(2,703 bp)was obtained from the jejunum by reverse transcription-PCr and *** tests showed that chicken xCt had 80.4%,80.2%,and 71.2%homology at the nucleotide level with humans,cattle,and rats,***,amino acid sequence analysis showed that chicken xCt protein is 86.4%,79.3%,and 75.6%homologous with humans,cattle,and rats,***,phylogenetic analysis indicated that chicken xCt genes share a closer genetic relationship with humans and cattle,than with *** chicken xCt protein has 12 transmembrane helixes,6 extracellular loops,and 5 intracellular *** mrnA of xCt was detected in all tissues,including intestinal segments,in which the mrnA expression of xCt was significantly higher(Pthin the colon,compared to the jejunum and *** development,a linear pattern of changes regarding the levels of the xCt mrnA was found,indicating that there was an abundance of xCt within the duodenum(Prthermore,there were changes of the xCt mrnA abundance in the colon during development,which displayed linear and cubic patterns(Pthese results indicated that xCt is widely expressed both in intestinal segments,as well as other organs that are not associated with nutrient *** investigation is needed to characterize the functional relevance of xCt activity in oxidative stress and inflammation in th

the trIUMF Injector CryoModule （ICM） adapted two superconducting single cavities as the capture section for the low injecting energy of 100 keV electrons. Coupler kick induced beam deflection and projected emittance growth are one of the prime concerns of the beam stability, especially at low energies. In low energy applications, the electron velocity changes rapidly inside the cavity, which makes the numerical analysis much more complicated. the commonly used theoretical formulas of the direct integral or the Panofsky- Wenzel theorem is not suitable for the kick calculation of β 1 electrons. Despite that, the above mentioned kick calculation method doesn’t consider injecting electron energy, the beam offset due to the coupler kick may not be negligible because of the low injection energy even if the kick is optimized. thus the beam dynamics code trACK is used here for the simulation of the power coupler kick perturbation. the coupler kick can be compensated for by a judicious choice of the coupler position in successive cavities from upstream to downstream. the simulation shows that because of the adiabatic damping by the following superconducting 9-cell cavity, even for the worst orbit distortion case after two capture cavities, the kick is still acceptable at the exit of the ICM after reaching 10 MeV. this paper presents the analysis of the transverse kick and the projected emittance growth induced by the coupler for β 1 electrons. the simulated results of the trIUMF ICM capture cavities are described and presented.
