Dormancy represents a fascinating adaptive strategy for organisms to survive in unforgiving *** a period of dormancy,organisms often exhibit exceptional *** period is typically divided into hibernation and aestivation based on seasonal ***,the mechanisms by which organisms adapt to their environments during dormancy,as well as the potential relationships between different states of dormancy,deserve further ***,we selected Perccottus glenii and Protopterus annectens as the primary subjects to study hibernation and aestivation,*** on histological and transcriptomic analysis of multiple organs,we discovered that dormancy involved a coordinated functional response across *** analyses revealed noteworthy disparities between the two dormant species in their responses to extreme ***,similarities in gene expression patterns pertaining to energy metabolism,neural activity,and biosynthesis were noted during hibernation,suggesting a potential correlation between hibernation and *** further explore the relationship between these two phenomena,we analyzed other dormancy-capable species using data from publicly available *** comparative analysis revealed that most orthologous genes involved in metabolism,cell proliferation,and neural function exhibited consistent expression patterns during dormancy,indicating that the observed similarity between hibernation and aestivation may be attributable to convergent *** conclusion,this study enhances our comprehension of the dormancy phenomenon and offers new insights into the molecular mechanisms underpinning vertebrate dormancy.

Hot Deformation Behavior and Microstructures Evolution of GNP-Reinforced Fine-Grained Mg Composites

Graphene nanoplates(GNPs)-reinforced magnesium matrix composites have been attracted great ***,knowledge is lack for the hot deformation behavior of GNP-reinforced magnesium(GNPs/Mg)*** this study,the fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite was fabricated by powder metallurgy process followed by *** hot deformation behavior,microstructure evolution and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)mechanism of fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite were investigated by hot compression test and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD).The hot compression tests of the composite were conducted at temperatures between 423 and 573 K with the strain rates from 0.001 to 1 s^(-1).The strain compensated power law equation was established to describe the hot deformation behavior of the *** stress exponent and activation energy of the composite are 7.76 and 83.23 kJ/mol,respectively,suggesting that the deformation mechanism is grain boundary slip controlled dislocation climb *** abnormally high stress exponent and activation energy are unattainable in the composite due to the fine grain size of the composites and the absence of Zener pinning and Orowan effects of GNPs *** grain size increases with the decrease in Zener-Hollomn(Z)parameter,which can be well fitted by power-law *** the increase in grain size and decrease in Z parameter,the geometrically necessary dislocation density decreases,which shows the approximately power-law relationship.A random and weak texture was formed after hot *** discontinuous dynamic recrystallization and continuous dynamic recrystallization mechanism dominated the DRX behavior at 473 K/0.001 s^(-1) and 573 K/0.001 s^(-1),respectively.

High-Temperature Stability of Mg-1Al-12Y Alloy Containing LPSO Phase and Mechanism of Its Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)Effect

In this study,the high-temperature stability and the generation mechanism of the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect in solid-solution Mg-1Al-12Y alloy with different heat treatment processes were investigated by adjusting the content of long-period stacking ordered(LPSO)*** was found that the content of LPSO phases in the alloys differed the most after heat treatment at 530℃for 16 h and 24 h,with values of 13.56%and 3.93%***,high-temperature tensile experiments were conducted on these two alloys at temperatures of 150℃,200℃,250℃,and 300℃.The results showed that both alloys exhibited the PLC effect at temperatures ranging from 150 to 250℃.However,at a temperature 300℃,only the alloy with a greater concentration of LPSO phases exhibited the PLC effect,whereas the alloy with a lower proportion of LPSO phases did not exhibit this ***,both alloys exhibited remarkable high-temperature stability,with the alloy containing a greater percentage of LPSO phases also demonstrating superior *** underlying mechanism for this phenomenon lies in the exceptional high-temperature stability exhibited by the second phase within the ***,the LPSO phase effectively obstructs the movement of dislocations,and it also undergoing kinking to facilitate plastic deformation of the *** results indicate that the PLC effect can be suppressed by reducing dislocation pile-up at grain boundaries,which leads to a decrease in alloy plasticity but an increase in *** presence of the PLC effect in the WA121 alloy is attributed to the abundant dispersed second phase within the alloy,which initially hinders the movement of dislocations,leading to an increase in stress,and subsequently releases the dislocations,allowing them to continue their movement and thereby reducing in stress.

Persistence of fertilization effects on soil organic carbon in degraded alpine wetlands in the Yellow River source region

In the restoration of degraded wetlands,fertilization can improve the vegetation-soil-microorganisms complex,thereby affecting the organic carbon ***,it is currently unclear whether these effects are *** study employed Biolog-Eco surveys to investigate the changes in vegetation characteristics,soil physicochemical properties,and soil microbial functional diversity in degraded alpine wetlands of the source region of the Yellow River at 3 and 15 months after the application of nitrogen,phosphorus,and organic mixed *** following results were obtained:The addition of nitrogen fertilizer and organic compost significantly affects the soil organic carbon content in degraded *** months after fertilization,nitrogen addition increases soil organic carbon in both lightly and severely degraded wetlands,whereas after 15 months,organic compost enhanced the soil organic carbon level in severely degraded *** equation modeling indicates that fertilization decreases the soil pH and directly or indirectly influences the soil organic carbon levels through variations in the soil water content and the aboveground biomass of *** months after fertilization,nitrogen fertilizer showed a direct positive effect on soil organic ***,organic mixed fertilizer indirectly reduced soil organic carbon by increasing biomass and decreasing soil *** 15 months,none of the fertilizers significantly affected the soil organic carbon *** summary,it can be inferred that the addition of nitrogen fertilizer lacks sustainability in positively influencing the organic carbon content.

A Fluctuation Test for Structural Change Detection in Heterogeneous Panel Data Models

Structural change in panel data is a widespread phenomena. This paper proposes a fluctuation test to detect a structural change at an unknown date in heterogeneous panel data models with or without common correlated effects. The asymptotic properties of the fluctuation statistics in two cases are developed under the null and local alternative hypothesis. Furthermore, the consistency of the change point estimator is proven. Monte Carlo simulation shows that the fluctuation test can control the probability of type I error in most cases, and the empirical power is high in case of small and moderate sample sizes. An application of the procedure to a real data is presented.

Analysis of strength characteristics of loess before and after freezing using a hollow cylinder torsional shear apparatus

This paper aims to comprehensively analyze the influence of the principal stress angle rotation and intermediate principal stress on loess's strength and deformation characteristics.A hollow cylinder torsional shear apparatus was utilized to conduct tests on remolded samples under both normal and frozen conditions to investigate the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of loess under complex stress *** results indicate significant differences in the internal changes of soil particles,unfrozen water,and relative positions in soil samples under normal and frozen conditions,leading to noticeable variations in strength and strain *** frozen state,loess experiences primarily compressive failure with a slow growth of cracks,while at normal temperature,it predominantly exhibits shear *** the increase in the principal stress angle,the deformation patterns of the soil samples under different conditions become essentially consistent,gradually transitioning from compression to extension,accompanied by a reduction in axial *** gradual increase in the principal stress axis angle(α)reduces the strength of the generalized shear stress and shear strain *** an increasingα,frozen soil exhibits strain-hardening characteristics,with the maximum shear strength occurring atα¼*** intermediate principal stress coefficient(b)also significantly impacts the strength of frozen soil,with an increasing b resulting in a gradual decrease in generalized shear stress *** study provides a reference for comprehensively exploring the mechanical properties of soil under traffic load and a reliable theoretical basis for the design and maintenance of roadbeds.

Quantification of the concrete freeze–thaw environment across the qinghai–Tibet Plateau based on machine learning algorithms

The reasonable quantification of the concrete freezing environment on the qinghai–Tibet Plateau(QTP) is the primary issue in frost resistant concrete design, which is one of the challenges that the QTP engineering managers should take into account. In this paper, we propose a more realistic method to calculate the number of concrete freeze–thaw cycles(NFTCs) on the QTP. The calculated results show that the NFTCs increase as the altitude of the meteorological station increases with the average NFTCs being 208.7. Four machine learning methods, i.e., the random forest(RF) model, generalized boosting method(GBM), generalized linear model(GLM), and generalized additive model(GAM), are used to fit the NFTCs. The root mean square error(RMSE) values of the RF, GBM, GLM, and GAM are 32.3, 4.3, 247.9, and 161.3, respectively. The R^(2) values of the RF, GBM, GLM, and GAM are 0.93, 0.99, 0.48, and 0.66, respectively. The GBM method performs the best compared to the other three methods, which was shown by the results of RMSE and R^(2) values. The quantitative results from the GBM method indicate that the lowest, medium, and highest NFTC values are distributed in the northern, central, and southern parts of the QTP, respectively. The annual NFTCs in the QTP region are mainly concentrated at 160 and above, and the average NFTCs is 200 across the QTP. Our results can provide scientific guidance and a theoretical basis for the freezing resistance design of concrete in various projects on the QTP.

A stable one-point quadrature rule for three-dimensional numerical manifold method

We present a numerically stable one-point quadrature rule for the stiffness matrix and mass matrix of the three-dimensional numerical manifold method(3D NMM).The rule simplifies the integration over irregularly shaped manifold elements and overcomes locking issues,and it does not cause spurious modes in modal *** essential idea is to transfer the integral over a manifold element to a few moments to the element center,thereby deriving a one-point integration rule by the moments and making modifications to avoid locking *** the stiffness matrix,after the virtual work is decomposed into moments,higher-order moments are modified to overcome locking issues in nearly incompressible and bending-dominated *** the mass matrix,the consistent and lumped types are derived by *** particular,the lumped type has the clear advantage of *** proposed method is naturally suitable for 3D NMM meshes automatically generated from a regular *** tests justify the accuracy improvements and the stability of the proposed procedure.

ShCTR1 Interacts with ShRBOH1 to Positively Regulate Aerenchyma Formation in Saussurea inversa through ROS Mediation

Removal of rubidium from brine by an integrated film of sulfonated polysulfone/graphene/potassium copper ferricyanide

A novel integrated film of sulfonated polysulfone/graphene/potassium copper ferricyanide(KCuFC/SPSG)was used for selectively extracting rubidium ion(Rb^(+))from *** form KCuFC/SPSG,the precursor film of sulfonated polysulfone/graphene(SPSG)was synthesized by phase conversion process,which was alternately immersed in 0.1 mol·L^(-1)CuSO_(4)/K_(4)[Fe(CN)_(6)]by in-situ adsorption coupled co-precipitation *** data such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer,Fourier transform infrared spectroscope,X-ray photoelectron spectroscope,X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,and energy dispersive spectroscopy all verified that abundant KCuFC were uniformly located on the *** resulting KCuFC/SPSG was used in film separation *** the solution was fed into the system,the Rb^(+)could be selectively adsorption by KCuFC/*** the saturation adsorption,0.5 mol·L^(-1)NH_(4)Cl/HCl was fed into the film cell,Rb^(+)could be quickly desorbed by ion-exchange between Rb^(+)and NH_(4)^(+)in the lattice of *** purpose of separating and recovering Rb^(+)from the brine can be achieved after the repeated *** effects of pH,adsorption time,and interferential ions on the adsorption capacity of Rb^(+)were investigated by batch *** adsorption behavior fits the pseudo-second order kinetic process,while KCuFC has a higher adsorption capacity(Langmuir maximum sorption 165.4 mg·g^(-1)).In addition,KCuFC/SPSG shows excellent selectivity for Rb^(+)even in complex brine ***/SPSG could maintain 93.5%extraction efficiency after five adsorption/desorption cycles.
